Lots of rumours about Rugby, Carlisle and Penrith being owned now by a new company formed on November 26th of this year, We know the company has been formed and who owns it what we dont have PROOF of is the ownership of these two truckstops, has transfered to this other company, can any one provide proof (apparently the till reciepts have the new owners name on top and a scan of one on here would be great  )

Rikki, would this be Stobarts as the rumour mill is spinning out at the moment?
Stands to reason with Penrith being owned by A W Jenkinson and there both being part owners of Stobart Bio-mass.

companiesintheuk.co.uk/ltd/s … truckstops

but we dont have conclusive proof as yet they have bought/obtained any assets

Talking to staff, they are now both under the Stobbart cloud. However been told that things are the same as regards to account cards etc. Have a feeling Stobbarts have to pull out of Crick in the near future.

penrith reciepts still had jenkinsons name on them a couple of weeks ago

Thats right, transport yard has been sold to a developer for Sainsbury’s to build a new rail served rdc on it.
Rumour keeps flying around about them buying the land next to the Rugby truckstop for the new depot due to planning problems on Magna Park.

Cheers oldsid I phoned and there not open until 7am tomorrow

Your welcome lad. Its a bugger getting parked these few nights

So are we expecting to lose these 2 truckstops then?

A new company called Stobart Truckstops set up in November 2012 ? Doesn’t bode well for Rugby truck stop then does it. If Stobarts do steam roll the truck stop just for another depot then something has to be done as regards safe, secure parking for trucks, maybe this would help highlight the problem. No wonder truck crime is so high. £20+ to park a night and if you do find somewhere secure, there isn’t usually enough space for everyone.

If the rumours are true does that mean we get cheaper food there than any other truckstop? Will there be a new dress code? Will us mere mortals have to pretend to be nice to spotters too? Will the beans be ready in time, or will the whole kitchen come crashing to a halt if Ashley doesn’t get the clean plates delivered in time?

So many questions, so little time.

Rumour has it Stobart Truckstop took over the Night Owl sites at Rugby & Carlisle on Monday 24/12/2012.

Who cares about ‘truck crime’ , the authorities clearly don’t so why should the driver stress, take care of #1 drive…!

I thought the writing was on the wall for Rugby, but they have built the new lorry park! I never thought for one minute they would shut Alconbury,Gateshead or Wolverhampton, all of them were rammo every night. Food is not good at Rugby and the showers are shabby. When they started out as BP Truckstops I thought it was the start of things to come.

If they were packed every night…why did they close?

Perhaps the so called managers in their flash company cars and their sharp suits thought that the gravy train would never end so therefore took an unsustainable wage and dividend out of the business.
