Last month i signed on with the agency Manpower who promised loads of work with the Royal mail on the xmas run up, on registering you have to undergo a strict security check ( like a CRB ) because it’s the Royal Mail which they send off & takes about a week to come back
… Surprise surprise- still waiting 3 weeks now . Anyone else had this??
stop waiting for them to call you, get on the phone to them, unless its ur crb check isnt back, if so yes ive had it happen.

I called them on Monday, they said there still waiting for the CRB
I’m currently working anyway- but they said they are desperate for drivers now- well how desperate are they??
CRB can take up to 3 weeks to come back. And you won’t get a start without it.

yea just keep chasing them up and then your more likely to get the work, i was the same years ago. they are desperate but rm wont let anyone in without having this check.
Ok thanks incidentely- what is the work like?
It is very boring work, might be busier now its their peak time but I couldnt stand sitting in canteen for 5-8 hours of a 14 hour shift. Did about 6 hours driving max a day. This was at east mids airport, nice friendly place to work but not for folk who get bored sitting around waiting. As with any agency though, if they can use you on another job that pays you less and suits them better dont expect to be on royal mail every day They used to ask me which duty I wanted on a friday for the following week and I would be lucky to make 2 of the shifts as my services were usually required elsewhere and usually for a shorter shift and less pay which in the end ■■■■■■ me off enough to leave for a job on £7.50 an hour
I am going back on agency next week

ive found the work easy and never had any time sat in a canteen, it all depends on where you work out of tbh i think.
manpower will try keep you at rm for as long as they can they wont take you off it to go to somebody else because RM is a big contract for them.
It’s from the crick depot if that helps
i only know about the scottish depots and they are all good to work from though you may find sometimes nobody has a clue what is going on lol. but dont let it get to you or get annoyed about it, just laugh it off lol

The work was easy, so easy I used to watch a lot of day time tele crap!
I was taken off it regular though, they had “favourites” they used to try and look after. Once even trying to tell me my 10am start was now 3am somewhere else…at 10pm at night If I had of said yes I would of swapped about £130 of £64 as the 3am start was always finished by 11am. They would make out they could use me anywhere so would even though I ended up out of pocket for it, however for how much jobs on Nottingham are going for at the minute I think I will be happy back on agency I cant be arsed with 70 hour weeks anymore
i would only get taken off it if i wasnt up at parcelforth in perth, if icould go there they would remove me from anywhere else even another rm depot to put me up there, was always the first choice for up there for any shift, it was easier and closer to get to for me aswell as paying more per week.
There is work in Derby, well there should be, these wusses have refused to deliver any parcels or letters while snow is on the ground. Health and Safety!!!
How come most people cannot get to work when there is 3cm of snow on the road, but they never get stuck at work when there is 18 inches.
Another thing-do you have to go on a driving assessement with one of their bods before they let you loose? & is there mountains of H&S paperwork to fill in on site ( like Sainsburys
)
i got my security check (so my agency calls it)in 24 hours for a basic crb check they can do it online…I am working for parcelforce and went for interview on wendsday lastweek and was told thursday i start on monday…been there and was told if i am ok they will keep me here till end of january and then offer a full time job through parcelforce think its same with RM…
Before you get the job, you have to prove you can remove a childs birthday money from a card without damaging the envelope…
Generally u go for an assessment for the attics but I doubt I’ll drive it’s just to tell u bout load plans and how to use the different deckers etc
We have started to pull rm trailers this week and none of us have had the crb checks. Not sure if we are meant to, hopefully I’ll avoid getting the job!

one of our drivers are doing work for them we req security checks but we did ours in oct of this year it can take up to 6 weeks this for drivers sorters on xmas contract we only supply one driver due to work
i would ring up your agency see whats happend [if you been a bad boy in the past 10 yrs they wont accept you as you are dealing with mail]
or if you know what depot it is ring up transport office or hr at sheffield hr is only email service
If you do work for them (Manpower) do be careful of the mandatory deductions. Up to 8hrs of work they deduct 45min, after that they take 1hour from your time.
