Royal mail subbies

I was on 2. But was stupid and naive to think that ia guarantee is a guarantee

na that’s agency’s fella once you get your foot in and keep you going you drop the rest …at the start when I gave up work to look after the kids when the Mrs as it was then went back to work at one point I was on 8 agency’s and don’t turn anything down to start with. I even did car driving in teams for euro hire …you went out about 4 of you dropping cars off and getting picked up to collect another car , give it a quick valet and off again, pays the bills in between work.
see if you have a local truck / van hire company that needs a ad-hoc driver

All well and good but what have they given you as a contract .

That’s it. It was rushed as they needed me yesterday but now nothing. Surely that’s a contract of sorts. The advert. Ah well I’ll see what happens when I invoice them for 40 hours

sorry to agree on this but ^is correct.

for me no matter who I have worked for if I go back to driving I would register with 3 (for me any more and its a ball ache to manage) but 3 gives you a couple of options should 1 let you down.

try to find out who has what in the local area too for example manpower and pertemps do the royal mail contract.

Thankyou guys. Two agencies have messed me about now tg recruitment and the driving team

it happens am afraid ( and I work in recruitment  ), for me I either look for only the big players as previously mentioned plus a couple on top of them or if I know a local bod supplies somewhere I want to work then I will go there.

if you want PM me and let me know where you are I will ask a few questions and see if we can do anything to help.

good luck on that fella keep us posted

if not go door knocking, most companies will give you a start that way quicker than sending in cv’s.

As mentioned earlier it turned out to be a company called secured freight

Is this through ‘the driving team’ agency? Seen loads of jobs advertised through them recently, anyone know what they are like?

Secured Mail are situated at the end of Calver Rd in Warrington just around the corner from Royal Mail. I have done a couple of night trunks for them through an agency (Interaction). They do move mail for the Post Office among others. I never had any problems there.

Did it via Archbold for the Xmas rush last year, load Rochdale down to Brum, tip and load for Warrington, Tip and load for Warrington ( 2 depots) finish. Wasn’t hard really.

I got offered temp to perm guaranteed 40 hours for secure mail once. I was asked over and over if I was happy coming off self employed after 13 weeks for a full time job. I said yes. Did a shift then nothing. Asked agency if I should invoice 8 hours a day as guaranteed 40 hours to be told I’m not on temp to perm yet. Can’t remember agency name but it was a woman by the name of sibion

Royal Mail are using sub contractors more and more, and it wont be long before 50% of their trunking is sub contracted
just like TNT, cheaper, more reliable & more efficient = less hassle

Always cheaper to run transport in-house in my experience. But it has to be done as professionally as possible to make it so, which the larger companies can struggle with.

I reckon all this subbing is about getting drivers to do the 12-15 hour shifts that the full time staff are not allowed to do anymore…
