anyone work for royal mail on here■■?
we been doin backloads for royal mail this week and i am well shocked at the lack of security, i finished my 1st job monday and got a phone call cancelling my 2nd job and to go to a royal mail out house centre and collect a load to bring back with me, was given an address and a reference number. get to the place, drive straight through the open gate, into reception and explain why i am there, asked for no id or anything, told to go on bay 2. on bay and sitting in cab, get a knock on door and get told the way into the warehouse is over there, head in after i put my boots back on, trolley loads of post everywhere, asked to help load trolleys, no prob, after about 30 of them put on, i ask for paper work, told i dont need any, ask is trailer being sealed, no i am told.
get to my destination, massive sorting office, again not asked for id, not asked for paperwork, given a royal mail hi-viz jacket and told bay number and how to get in warehouse, agiain doors are open, walk straight in, few lads help me unload and thats it.
i know a fella who drives for royal mail and he had a crb check to drive for them
so if you dont get your xmas cards, you know why (i aint nicked them )
its the way with RM tbh. i take it this was Bathgate your doing it from? if so its pretty lax there and at Glasgow. Edinburgh are very ■■■■ about security though lol

no not bathgate, its from down south up to yorkshire, dont really want to put exact locations, i know my boss is on here sometimes.
i have been in heathrow sorting office a few times, they are mad on security there, had to be escorted everywhere
Shade, Coffee please don’t tar us all with we’re not all bad but I do know what your getting at. I’ve been with them a few months now and there are alot of good drivers.Also seen some bloody silly things though out on the road.
Agree with Red Squirrel, if you have genuine concerns adress them with your boss not on a public forum.
There ‘are’ some thieving scumbags out there, just ask DHL at Newark …
Would you be the same guy that moan on here if security was Mi5 tight? Takes you 3 hours to get in, 5 hours to tip/load then 3 hours to get out due to forensic searching, sniffer dogs, welded seals on back doors? Personally the way there doing it would suit me fine, easy ozi, in and out, seems piece of cake.

I dont think thieving is the issue here more that somebody could put suspect parcels into the system. It would only need for a driver who visits regular to have sympathies to certain religions/ animal rights etc etc to pick up on what has been pointed out here.
Selby newcomer is correct security is a farce, I work for RM and it is a total joke all year round unless they get wind of a security check by an outside agency. It is well documented in the media, daily record or sunday mail did a expose a few years ago on Glasgow mail centre it has not changed any. The most worrying thing at this time of year is health and safety which always takes a back seat at certain sites.
I think the Royal Mail suffer huge pressures at this time of year because of the volume of mail. In fact, I’ve noticed that they have forgotten to cancel, or postmark, the stamps on over half of the packets and parcels I have received in the last month.
