poole or plymouth to santander, 17 hours-ish, and then a leisurely day’s drive to barca, 24 off on the beer then back the same way - not sure your gaffer would agree mind  you asked though alex

JD, this will start BritPete off again…he is a rep for the Lux tourist board.
He is the ONLY person on here that I have ever seen recommend going Calais to Barca via Lux. What does that tell you?? The ■■■■ are cheaper in Spain … fuel is cheaper. Why the hell does he want to go Lux?? Or is he being a johnny smartass?

And the fact he lives in Germany may answer that question :stuck_out_tongue:

well austin you are the man to know the best routes. when the driver was on about going lux i was looking at him in disbelief. he was rattling on about euro work and when i questioned his experiance apartentley he used to to go to paris twice a week. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

cheers jj good idea but you know why gaffers are like if they think you are enjoying themselves. :imp:

Calais, Rouen, Evreux, Dreux, Chartres, Clermont-Ferrand, over the Millau Viaduct (Here’s some footage I shot last year uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz5aadRFqNQ ), through the border at La Jonquera. (Don’t forget to stop for ■■■■ and booze, they virtually give it away)

Then a couple of hours later you’re there. Easy-peasy.

It’s about 17-18 hours from Calais, depending on your weight.

cheers harry.

ive just looked at your route harry and it looks blinding then i look at the lux and nearly split my drink laughing.

No probs, there is one variation on the route, some go via Paris. It’s more grief, slower, and more expensive on the peage so I personally don’t.

Anyone who would go to Barcelona via Luxembourg is a bit of a “Space Cadet”.

Portsmouth for me mate , every time . (unless you can swing the santander option) . Then either caen or le havre and pick up harry’s route . Or some prefer to route via nantes, bordeaux, toulouse . Probably because there are less hills .

I’d prefer to go via Santander, cos then I wouldn’t have to even see France. :grimacing:

And as for going via Lux, (err… sorry Pete, but) I agree 100% with Harry.

 BTW, is Pete paid by the mile?

Newhaven - Dieppe. (You miss Paris) There and back on 4 cards easy.

The ‘Cote D’Albataine’ (I think  ) is a decent ferry, just remember to ask nicely (in French if you can) for a cabin to yourself and the crossing is long enough to get some meaningfull sleep.

RT.

@ DIESILDAVE wish I was paid by the Kilometer,

ladies & gentlemen ; I am but a simple driver
who at that time had thought only for the
pocket of the boss and the fuel was then much cheaper
than spain and we had orders all ways to fill
up in LUX as the menge was for my boss
increaseing their profits, when you have the
firms lorries all filling up at thesame place
the VAT return,s and the lower cost of fuel
does make a difference,Yes even if it is a bloody
long way round some bosses are like that,

now if only there was a train going that way,eh pete :unamused:

@ glenman , you can send it unaccompannied
by train mate,

I have been over the Millau bridge when i did a job to Perpignan and what a bridge it is! The approach and decent are something special (well i thought it was good!)

It sure is…

Say what you like about the Kermits, they don’t mess around when it comes to building roads.

Yeah the French said what a great achievement it was, but what they failed to mention was that i designed by a Brit. So maybe they aint all that

try more like 28-34 hrs

Harry’s way is very good it’s the cheapest. I prefer to take the N20 split at Vierzon and down that way , via Tolouse ,There are more place’s to stop and at this time of year you have not got to worry about going over the Massif central.
