Seen that pic before, but this time zoomed in on it. I see that each layer above the cab is individually roped to the back. Would that be on a ratchet or double hitched? Either way, a clever trick to keep the first one in place while that is done.

Just noticed too, is that the second driver vigorously cranking the handle all alone while his mate watches in his mirror and no doubt mumbles something about getting on with it ffs. :astonished:

Don’t think so David, notunless the driver is a cross dresser, check out the heels on “her” feet and the skirt,I reckon she is a pedestrian just walking across the road.

Trusting you are well and getting on with the festivities?

A question for the Men of Kent, or Kentish Men, depending on which side of the Medway you were born, what is the weight of a hop pocket?

A pedestrian who seems to be doubled over though. :unamused:

Reasonably well, thank you David, apart from a diagnosis of asthma 50 years after my last boyhood asthma attack, and an all clear on a hernia suspicion. Just got to lose some weight, that’s all.

Festivities, what festivities? Not in this pagan household, in any case I’ll be working on Christmas day, heading back from south of Lyon after delivering a Dobermann collected on Christmas Eve near Paris.

Got a nice present from the Commune today, in common with all the over 70s. A neighbour, a local counselor, called with 2 bags each containing a bottle of Bergerac, pate de campagne, confit de canard, a fruitcake and a little bag of chocolates.

Anyone would think it’s Christmas David!

All the best

Saturday night flyer with RR 777 engine .

First thought when I read what the load is… insurance. RHA or FTA terms of carriage G.I.T. insurance of £1,300 per tonne won’t be remotely near enough for that engine should it get damaged.

No fly sheet I’ll grant you but a fine job, would take most tipper men years of experience to reach this level of R n S. Lost art now due to auto sheeting,n of course the young uns today wouldn’t spend hrs on end, in all weathers and stood on hot tarmac. To be honest I’m not sure how I put up with the rigors of it :open_mouth: cheers Coomsey

And then trying to find a puddle to cool your feet in before they blister! :open_mouth: Oh, and lumps of asphalt coming off your boots onto the floor and pedals while you were driving, and the tack coat sticking to everything and having to clean the floor and pedals with diesel to get rid of it then the smell of diesel was with you for days! Easysheets took away all that, apart from the tack coat of course.

Pete.

Those “flat boys” never knew the hell we went through Pete ! There was the odd load when we had to double sheet ,n no shovelling off for them ! My shovel was like Triggers brush ! You watch they’ll be on here telling us their sob stories soon,it makes my heart bleed :unamused:

Another 4/5 mins of pure graft. Cheers Coomsey

Here we go again! Nothing wrong with the Albion axles, Denis, as long as they were in a 6-wheeler and not expected to do what some unscrupulous haulier demanded!

I know which axle I would prefer to have behind me when accessing a construction site ROF!
