Rock under nearside front axle

So a guy parked up next to me, went and got some rocks then reversed over them so the near side wheel is resting on top of it.

Any explanation why? His wheel looks all deformed resting on it, can’t imagine it’s good in the long run

I didn’t want to go ask him myself in case he thought we where both insane.

To level the cab… so he can have his beauty sleep horizontal.

I know :unamused:

I must confess I’m equally fussy about a level nights kip. I just hate it when I wake up and my knees are by my ears. Ironically this is my favourite position for the wife to go to sleep.

Jesus it’s becoming like a epidemic, Lorry drivers worrying about what everyone else is doing :unamused:

Cheers guys, confirms my theory he was insane then [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]

I carry a block of wood with me for same reason, (well a few really as I keep leaving them behind in a morning :unamused: .)
Was once warned by a (decent) copper who could just as easily have nicked me, for putting my front wheel on the kerb, so carried one around since then.

We used to park trailer wheels over the sheets to save em being nicked, never gone to the bother of levelling the lorry though, just lay out with me feet at the lower end.

The guy didn’t even put the rocks back where he found them, just left them in the bay for the next poor sod to run over them

Maybe he was hoping to that it would bend the track rod as he reversed over them and then he could ring-in in the morning to report the problem, thus getting out of tomorrow’s job which did not particularly appeal to him. :smiling_imp: :unamused:

no it was all right i used them.

I had a little 4-way spirit level that i glued onto the dash, it was really useful for getting it level for over-nighting. I could usually manage to get it level by dropping a wheel into a pothole but failing that I usually carried some bits of wood.

I used to carry a couple of bits of wood too. My fridge sits behind the drivers seat and I’m too lazy to move it round, so I like to have the cab level or slightly higher on the near side. Sorry if that offends anyone.

I’m sure the non limping agency people will find a use for them.

It was a non-digital device, it wasn’t a ‘app’ for a phone - it was real
probably get them for a couple of quid on ebay,
google.co.uk/search?q=4+way … U5nWhVM%3A
fills in half an hour shuffling back and forward in and out of pot holes on and off bits of wood. before smart phones you had to try and fill you time in, could go insane having to spend 10 hrs in a layby.

I know a guy that carrys a lump of scaffolding wood to level the cab. He says its to do with good blood flow during sleep or summit.

I really need to get some wood myself.
Fridge behind me as well which I use as a table in the evening for watching a bit of one handed telly.

Can’t stand to be on the ■■■■ and it’s a ballache to change ends. Even with me extra fluffy pillows if I ain’t level I ain’t gonna sleep well.

Hate waking up with a stiff neck it buggers me up for the whole day. Although to be fair at my age waking up with a stiff anything should be a bonus.

Levelling up the cab ! Fer christ’s sake boys. In the good ol’ days, we slept on the dog house, wrapping all those blankets around us. The ergo Leylands were best, nice slope down to the screen so you woke up in a crunched up little ball, unable to straighten out for about half an hour.

Just joking for the humour challenged.
