Roadie/Logistics for Concerts

Anyone heard of any dedicated concert logistics companies in the UK? Freight and roadie crews etc?

Trans am trucking

EST (Edwin Shirley trucking)

Looking to book a truck for a tour or looking for work?

Work… My Elvis impression is mildly dire. Left the last audience all shook up. :open_mouth:

Ha!

Class 1 or 2? Only company there doing class 2 only is the mob I work for (ESS). Fairly sure the rest do both.

I have seen a Fly By Nite rigid im sure. I also thought thats who you (Hammy747) worked for?.

FBN do rigids yes.

No, I work for ESS. Pa company who own 2 rigids. Unmarked/livered to keep cargo undercover. Probably passed me somewhere in the wee hours if you do night work!

My bad, a quick search on here shows ‘gb1’ and ‘shade’ work for FBN.

Yeah your hours seem all over the place a bit but atleast your still traveling Europe i suppose. gb1 reckoned last year he managed Morocco, Russia, Finland etc.

Also kb events, brian yeardsley.

Plenty of firms about that do this kinda stuff.

Everybody has missed off Stardes :open_mouth:

Stardes / FBN / TruckingBY[coming soon]/ KBevent all run rigids…

Many thanks all.

There is a fbn rigid that sometimes parks up near my house (derby). Nice looking truck.

A mate got a 5 week break last year doing the euro leg of the 1 Direction tour, Germany, Denmark, Norway etc.
But as soon as 1D went to the USA to do that leg of the tour, the drivers got layed off, it seemed they where many false promises of continuity of work by the haulier which failed to materialise.

Has anyone ever noticed how some groups/people sound bloody awful live!

Do you just transport the sound equipment/cabling etc etc or all the instruments as well? Do you set the instruments up (plug all them in and set up too?)

Any VIP stories?

It seems to me that the nature of this kind of work means that it isn’t continuous and not one tour lined up to work on directly after another ends. So bit surprised if they were under that impression & the haulier promised that.

There are a couple of freelance owner drivers on here too. I worked for one. Kinda wished I still did!

My brother does a lot of casual roadie work in the SW - he’s seen a lot of pretty awesome up and coming bands when he worked at the bier keller in Bristol, and the old vic. He does Glasto every year as one of those volunteer types. He has lots of stories. Git.

I quite fancy getting into that side of work. I don’t mind being away in continuous blocks. Had a neighbour who used to work for a rich geezer who collected classic Ferrari’s - he used to spend all summer hauling a few around europe for his boss to race a couple of times. Then all winter polishing them and servicing them tough life…!

I know its not concert work but showplace up in stratford were looking for drivers to do exhibistion trailer work. And one time were looking for drivers to transport expensive cars bentlys etc. Not sure of pay etc but thought I would mention it if you would like something different

I got the impression that he was both nieve and with rose tinted specs keen to get behind the wheel. Despite not having much C+E experience (he’s a 360 back hoe driver), & deffo no euro experience, as the furthest he’s been is Benidorm. He got friendly with another guy in the pub who does euro work & was given the chance to go, with promises of extra tour legs to Russia & beyond

El Presidente … My advice would be to start ringing round the companies listed above , and keep doing so . You may drop lucky but more than likely you may be asked to do a bit as a double driver . It’s how I started and is a good way to see how the job suits you . It’s not for everyone . Good luck

Double manned stuff aint a bad gig with some of these firms, fly out, drive, arrive, go to hotel, have 2 days of in european city(paid of course) then drive to the next city and repeat.

No loading/unloading.

You still can be treated like a scumbag truckdriver though. Its not all red carpet stuff.
