Thanks in advance.

I take it that these are not popular then.
I’ve heard that they’re one of the best on the market. Thinking about getting one myself. I’ve not actually used one so cant comment on how good they are.

Road Hawk are extremely good but they cost a lot!!
Up until recently, It was my understanding that BlackVu were also very good but ive heard of issues with them over heating and subsequently shutting down or corrupting the play back! So what will they be like in the summer inside a windscreen FFS!
Just before I bought one I also heard from one truck driver who bought a top of the range Blackvu ‘400’ but had to send it back because of poor picture quality! He then gave up on BlackVu and sent it back and got an Ipixi.
Ive just bought an Ipixi X100FHD, its cheaper than both the HD Road Hawk and the HD Black Vu 400. It has a full PC interface like the RH and BV, GPS tracking with speed and google maps, 30 FPS and full 1080P. Great piece of kit, very happy with it! Even footage from a dark road with my crappy truck dipped beam is fairly good. Oh, and the GPS is optional which is good as it’ll save 30 quid on the price if you don’t want / need GPS!
These get a good write up, about £60;

I have one, but its only a video camera, is good wide lens but you wouldn’t see a numberplate on the footage. For me ‘good’ comes from length of service and at only 6 months I cannot comment, would want it to be going strong in 5 or 8 years time or may as well spend £35 on ebay, Harry Monk said his was £35 and is a good job, so what to do?
I have the Roadhawk HD. I’m very happy with it. Night time footage is very good also.
You get what you pay for at the end of the day. No way was I going to pay peanuts for a camera that wouldn’t record a registration number.
Have a look on Youtube- Roadhawk HD.
I have the standard def one I like it and think it’s pretty good so I would imagine the hd one would be even better
I got a cheap one off of Amazon couple of weeks ago for £26 & it’s been great, full HD & night time it records ok can see everything clearly. Halfrauds are doing a decent one to it’s called Nextbase, range from £69 -£170.

Any problems with GPS ?
I have a sd one so the hd is obviously much better according to your man above.
Personally, and I know you’re asking about the hd and mine is a sd but…personally,it’s great in the day,ok at night in towns where it’s lit up but absolute crap on b roads where it only just about manages as far as the beam of your headlights (obviously you say) and the quality is like it’s lit up with a torch with weak batteries.
If you can find one geared up for night that would be your better bet imho.
Have a look on techmoan.com at the last DOD named one he reviewed very good night time recording.

Kuda are now doing them for £69, HD, 1080p etc
Just bought one from Groupon (sp) HD for £26. An extra £14 for a big memory card and Roberts ya Mothers brother. Don’t have a link, sorry, but for £40 you can’t really complain.

Do you mean a Kuda cam 1080 P HD ? If so have you had chance to have a good look at it yet ? They do look good but really had my heart set on RoadHawk HD.

This is the fella BB. I’ve only watched playback on its own screen and not on a pc yet tbh, but it seems to do the job. No speed trace or gps, but at that price you can’t really expect it. I set it to record 15 min segments and it’ll totally record a 15 hr shift no bother.

Unless it breaks
I wanted a RoadHawk but can only import them from UK. As I’m in Qld I got a BlackVue 500 HD with gps locally, well Melbourne as it’s only 1200 mile away. It’s alright, but I’d hesitate to recommend it for the picture quality. It does get hot, but then again, even in the centre console it gets pretty hot too. No problems so far.
