I wonder if the surviving family of Derek Bentley want the death penalty re-introduced. they are probably better qualified than most on it’s pros and cons.
Ditto the family of Stefan Kiskzo.
Lesley Susan Molseed (14 August 1964 — 5 October 1975) was an eleven-year old girl from Turf Hill, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, who was found dead on Rishworth Moor in West Yorkshire after being murdered.
Stefan Ivan Kiszko (24 March 1952 — 23 December 1993), a 23-year-old local tax clerk of Ukrainian/Slovenian parentage, served 16 years in prison after he was wrongly convicted of her ■■■■■■ assault and murder. His ordeal was described by one MP as “the worst miscarriage of justice of all time.”[1] Kiszko was released in 1992 after forensic evidence showed that he could not have committed the murder. He died in December 1993. Ronald Castree was eventually found guilty of the crime on 12 November 2007.[2]

The piece of excrement arrested obviously knew where little April was, and more importantly whether she was alive or dead. Would it really have been morally wrong in these circumstances to start removing pieces of him one joint at a time until he told the police her whereabouts?
No doubt you would have said the same about the landlord arrested in the Joanna Yates case
i have to confess that as soon as joanna yates’ landlord was arrested i thought they had their man-didnt we all?
i wont be jumping to conclusions again
I think the amount of television and other media people that have been in the Machynlleth area the last five days is ridiculous. The hotels and restaurants etc are making a load of money out of a families tragedy.

Blame television-watching Joe and Josephine Public for making it profitable for them to be there.

Morbid curiosity is what I call it Harry.A terrible situation without having that media circus there.
I believe the parents should be made to take some responsibility for allowing a 5 year old with cerebal palsy out of theyre sight and for not keeping the child safe imo

several posters on other forums are making the same point.
I wonder if they will face the same public abuse as the Mc Canns.
I think that I will reserve judgement until more is known.

So yeah, i stand totally behind my original post, and I’m shocked that someone as outspoken as yourself in relation to an entire segment of society (travellers) suddenly becomes such a bleedin hearted liberal when the life of a young, vulnerable, and by all accounts very ill little girl is hanging in the balance!
I know that passions run high at times like this, I have children myself, but I don’t think I could be described as a bleeding heart liberal simply for saying that arrest is not proof of guilt, that anyone arrested for any crime, no matter how heinous, is entitled to a fair trial before his or her guilt can be assumed or that torture is not an acceptable (or reliable) way to obtain a confession.
This is what raises us above a 1930s Mississippi lynch mob, the USSR in the 1950s or a modern-day banana republic.
Nothing wrong with any of that Harry but there seems to be sufficient circumstancial evidence in this case to justify the use of drugs to (try to) get an answer as to where the victim is/ended up and if where the victim is then found matches that answer that would obviously provide sufficient proof of guilt to at least make a reasonable case for the prosecution.
At that point after a proper trial and assuming a guilty verdict then maybe a bit of the old fashioned Mississippi way out and idea of a ‘humane exit’ on the electric chair would show that everyone has had enough of this type of crime going on.As they used to say then everyone turn their elecricity off to make sure that there’s plenty of current in the system.
