the RHA have started a love a lorry campaign, aimed at endearing trucks and truckers to the general public, all I can say to that is good luck with that, they don’t have a chance as we hgv drivers know what the public think of us
Would be more educational to launch a campaign highlighting the general public’s abysmal standard of car driving.
I’d rather they launch a campaign for wage parity! I couldn’t care less who love my truck, I’d love a larger wage myself!!
Perhaps if alot of drivers started smartening up a bit instead of their arse hanging out of a pair of jogging bottoms and rigger boots,oh and get rid of the greasy hi viz. This would be a start!

Maybe if more employers supplied uniforms, decent PPE as well as a decent wage that wouldn’t be so much of an issue.
As to ‘love a lorry’ are they serious? Maybe pointing out AGAIN that everything anyone buys has been transported by lorry and without them they be naked, cold and hungry.
How about a billboard campaign with something like, oooh lets see, ‘If you bought it, a lorry brought it’, I’m sure there are others that could be recycled
Although that wouldn’t cost enough and require loads of meetings in expensive venues for overpaid marketing executives to milk their ‘expenses’ so a bit of a non-starter really

very much doubt that in my opinion as the general public do not like hgv drivers or lorries period, irrelevant of how we dress, they would be lost without us but we will never do anything about that because even if we managed a half decent strike they would still hate us,i am afraid the RHA are on a loser with this one

agree 100%
Watching a truck tailgate a car on the A1 in the most torrential rain shower today, where visibility was about 20 feet. I don’t think he was loved by anyone. What a pillock
Instead of the RHA wasting their (or rather members money) on pointless soundbites wouldn’t their time be spent more constructively on attempting to improve drivers conditions? Oh I don’t know, maybe something along the lines of petitioning the Government to force landowners of industrial estates to provide HGV only parking, after all we don’t drive there for fun and giggles.
Or how about petitioning the RDC’s to provide proper facilities for when we are held captive there for hours on end?
Or my personal favourite; petition the Government to restrict our daily working period to a maximum of 12 hours, with a minimum of 12 hours off ( you know, something like “normal” people do)
Or how about (as we’re swamped with laws from Brussels) a weekend lorry ban?
Feel free to add.

I quite agree with your ideas, but the RHA wouldn’t take them on, as they are a trade association for operators, not drivers.

So my wage campaign won’t be acceptable either then as Operators won’t like it much[emoji57]

No no no your idea is just what they would like. The problem is they would like parity at the bottom end which is not, just guessing here, what your aiming for. You gotta be careful what you wish for as you just might get it.

Wage parity with who ?
Wasn’t there a TV programme not so long ago about people who loved their cars? Or am I thinking of something different?

And we All rip the ■■■■ out of stobart for doing exactly this.
Apart from the wage

Fair enough
because they are an organisation that represents hauliers…and not truckers, maybe they are trying to give a better image to the industry in order to protect their own jobs due to the driver shortage, and the fact youngsters are not being helped, nor wants to join this industry…just a thought.
