Driveroneuk:
I wonder if he has done as the OP suggested and done some damage by trying to drive it too far, too fast, is frantically trying to get it repaired and he and it will surface again once its running again.
I’d like to think so, Driverone, but have my doubts having found out about his other activities and if so why the silence?
A minute ago I rang yet again-------------no joy, I’m afraid, I just don’t know why he has done such a thing, it just doesn’t make sense.
Thanks anyway Driverone keep looking mate, you never know.
I use Shiply alot can you post his user name.
I pick many cars up from farms and the like and it’s surprising how many don’t ask for ID. On top of that it’s easy to work out where someone is, so if you follow the messages, it’s not hard to work out when a swap over is taking place, not always, but sometimes.
How about get someone else (maybe even a woman so it throws him off guard), to call him on a different number stating you have something to move and you want him to look. Get him over and get the police to arrest him. I feel they could as you said on BLB that the police are after him personally. Either that or follow him home… lol
artistjeffries:
Yes thanks again Harry, regarding Rob’s opinion of the police we both only speak as we find I suppose so I don’t disrespect his view just in my experience I have not seen this side of them to date and at the moment the Police are being very good.
So Mike, a full week has now gone by since our respected boys in blue have been informed of this theft. Can you give us a brief rundown on how well they’ve been doing their job to demonstrate how “good” they’ve been? I’d really love to hear about it as my confidence in their abilities has been very low of late so it would be some positive news about your truck would really help to restore my faith in them.

On Wednesday 13th July 2011 a firm called Northern Connections picked up my 1956 Albion lorry just outside Bodmin, Cornwall to deliver to me at Cambridge. Since then my lorry has vanished into thin air and despite repeated e-mails and phone calls I am met with a resounding silence.
The director of Northern Connections, a Mr Tony Garland, personally collected the vehicle to load it onto one of his lorries but I suspect he drove it himself some considerable distance and has most likely damaged the engine and/or the gearbox in his ignorance of the limitations of such an old vehicle.
If any of you truckers out there saw a chassis/cab four wheeler on the A30, A38 or M5 on the 13th, 14th or knows of the whereabouts of my Albion could they give me a bell on 07884462140 or e-mail me at mike@transportartist.co.uk as I want my pride and joy back!
The lorry has a green cab, red chassis and wheels is about 20ft long and is very distinctive, please can anyone help?
If your information leads me to recovering my Albion I am offering a reward, not money I’m afraid because I don’t have much of that but an original painting of your favourite truck is all I can offer.
LOKKING AT THAT ID TATHER HAVE THE INSURANCE MONEY,HOPEFULLY ITS IN BITS IN A SCRAPYARD BY NOW,WHERE IT SHOULD BE,TIMES HAVE MOVED ON,HAVE A HOLIDAY WITH INSURANCE MONEY OR GET YOURSELF A DECENT TRUCK,ITS THE YEAR 2011,NOT 1911,WELL SHOT OF THAT,that bloke wants locking up for nicking that thing,he must be nuts
You have obviously no appreciation of the finer things in life for which I pity you, if you have no information please refrain from wasting my time by making moronic comments about things you know nothing about my friend.
I dont post on hear much anymore because of comments like this
I really hope you find your lorry Mike and when you do drive it straight up this little twits backside!!
I am also offering a £10 reward…
To the first person who punches the little twit!!!
Slightly off topic but to show that I for one understand most posters sentiment.
Today I went to Manchester & back at 70 (ish )mph in my 1975 Triumph Dolomite Sprint.
Yesterday I had an out of the blue phone call from a friend I haven’t seen for some time. Due to closure of his local HGV testing station he has had to start traveling to Kirkham.
In his rush to get away on time he had forgotten to load his tool box.
His elderly high mileage Volvo 6x2 FM failed on a velcro tacho disc pouch within the swept area of the windscreen & headlamp aim. He needed torx bits & drive to remove the access panels and adjust the head lights.
As luck had it I was at home & available, I went in my 1963 series 2A Land Rover.

Just an idea.
I’ve tried that ploy, New Blood, but still no joy, he has now been banned from Shiply at least.
Just recieved an e-mail from Mr Garland who promises to deliver on Monday 1st Aug, Ilive in hope that this time he means it. Will let you all know what explanation he comes up with if indeed he arrives but in the meantime thank you everyone for your help and suggestions and your willingness to help an old lorry driver.

Rob I am sorry that you have had bad experiences with the Police but they could easily have said that this is a civil matter and not get involved but they made it a crime and sent an officer around to take a statement from me.
As I’ve said in my post it seems Mr Garland has seen sense and I suspect a visit from his local bobby has jogged his memory because all other avenues to try to contact him have had no sucess.
Yes there are good and bad policemen but it’s all we have to fight crime and terrorists in a ever more dangerous world so I for one will always co-operate in any way I can.
I think the fact that we are all motorists nowadays colours our perception because of the minefield that driving on our overcrowded roads presents, perhaps there’s a case for a completely separate force to police the roads as the railways have had for many years.

Totally agree with that idea.
There kind of used to be, but due to financial cut backs the roads policing division has all but gone.
Financial cut backs?
Why? They should have more money than ever as they should be funded from the millions generated by scameras.
Rob, you should go live in Thailand for a few months then come back and see if you still wish to find nothing but wrong with the UK police. At least you don’t have to tip them to get anything done.
Good news —sort of—Mike. Mr. Garland appears to be a bit of a “character”. In which case, I suggest that when you are due to meet him. wherever that is. That you do so with some company. Have you informed the police about the latest development? I suggest also, that you do that. They might give some advice about the meeting , and how to safeguard your personal interests. People like our Mr.Garland usually operate with a couple of less than savoury sidekicks in attendance.Good Luck.

mayhap some of our more rugged members would be taking a 45 in the area and would like to have a shufti at this vehicle we’ve all been looking for …

If he does turn up can you get a photo of him stood near the lorry. I will put it on Crimestoppers Most Wanted
I do expect he will turn up with a couple of cousins who have a tarmac job in the area, if by any chance he does turn up.
mark h:
so, did the truck turn up ? if it did in wa condition ?
Of course it did! The “very good” police will have done a sterling job of apprehending the thief and recovering the truck for Mike. He will be out in his local celebrating the occasion right as I speak.

The lorry or Mr Garland didn’t show up but of course I suspected that he wouldn’t.
Shortly after Mr Garland’s e-mail last week the Bodmin police rang me to tell me they had found my Albion, it was in a garage in Exeter and was safe and inpounded by them as stolen property until such time that I can pick it up. The charming Mr Garland had only sold it to someone for £1300 which illustrates what a con man he is. I was hoping that perhaps, just perhaps, that he might turn up here with some ■■■■ and bull story to demand money and could be apprehended so that is why I have only just posted this.
I am happy that my lorry is safe and hadn’t been sold for scrap but sorry for the poor person who parted with £1300 for it. Garland has added another crime to his record and no doubt will be caught eventually but I have nothing but praise for the police’s work in recovering my property.
Thanks again everyone for your help and support and if you see the Albion on the road it will be myself behind the wheel!
