I too hope it turns up… it seems a bizarre vehicle to target as it must be instantly identifiable and although it is a thing of beauty I cannot imagine it having a great monetary value.

Thanks Harry, yes you’re right it’s only worth about £5000 but a gem to me.
Regards
Mike
No disrespect meant at all but the only realistic way a thief could make any money out of this vehicle would be by cutting it up for scrap, and maybe getting a few hundred quid selling the running gear, it hardly seems worth travelling down from Yorkshire to Cornwall and back for, especially as he is a readily identifiable person, supposedly with a bona fide business… Whatever Rob says, and in fairness I do know he he has suffered poor treatment from them in the past, it is a given that the Police will take out an arrest warrant against him…
Do keep us informed on this, I am sure there will be dozens of TruckNet members keeping an eye out for her.

Hope you find your truck… Let us know the outcome!
What is the guy who it and handed over the truck saying about it? As already asked, do you know how Mr Garland got to the lay by?

That cab looks an odd shape.Have you seen the V5 (log book?) is this vehicle described as a lorry or a bus?
strangely, when I googled the reg number I got

UHW343-01
Heaver bodied Albion Victor UHW 343 dating from 1955 is pictured in Lancaster in 1981 whilst in preservation in the livery of (I think) Guernsey Motors. By the early 1990s it had been acquired by travellers and converted into a mobile home and I’m not sure whether this vehicle still survives.
…and that’s exactly why I asked the question I did Denis. I was holding on to that unitil I got an answer.
but I guess you weren’t to know that.
Anyway, at least it didn’t come as a suprise to the OP.
This has been an interesting thread , from the start. As it has progressed, I have been greatly impressed with the info that a number of posters—Driveroneuk–DennisF–Wheelnut–Harry Monk --and many others, have added. Together with some great links to sites that I had previously never heard of. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Hopefully ending with the return of the missing ex-bus/truck to it,s rightful owner “artistjefferies”.
In one of his Grade1 posts, Harry Monk stated --"I too hope it turns up… it seems a bizarre vehicle to target as it must be instantly identifiable and although it is a thing of beauty". Which was verging on the lyrical.
Which puts it into sharp contrast with the deservedly much hammered half-witted post by Ady1.
. As a driver employed by that company for 15 years, in Edward Stobart,s day, until my retirement 11 and a half years ago, I take great exception to some nugget ,currently employed by them, making comments which opens the door for comebacks like --“you are a ■■■■ , well suited to stobarts”–. The “■■■■” bit , I agree with. The rest, not.

Yes thanks again Harry, regarding Rob’s opinion of the police we both only speak as we find I suppose so I don’t disrespect his view just in my experience I have not seen this side of them to date and at the moment the Police are being very good.

Looking at the picture, you’d be lucky to make £250 / 300 in scrap value and certainly not worth the journey as you say.
That said, it must have gone missing for some reason or someones gain…
good luck in finding your rig man … it sure looks like a fine machine

Perhaps, the next time ady1 wants some information and is relying on the goodwill of the members on here to freely give it, we should all post some inane and downright rude ■■■■■■■■ for replies so he knows exactly how it feels.
I think the thread in the link below shows Karma, as well as being a ■■■■■, does have a sense of humour.

Thank you Mike but I can’t really agree that Shiply is a bad website, I have used them in the past and found them very useful when buying things on E-bay for instance. The fact that they didn’t pick up on this Tony Garland character is hardly their fault, in fact the whole episode doesn’t make sense. As scrap it is worth very little and a genuine scrap merchant wouldn’t touch it without the V5, if it’s broken the spares are valuable but the preservation movement is a small world where everyone knows everyone else.
I live in hope that someone decent out there will spot it before some pond life does and breaks it to sell as scrap for a £100 or so.

I wonder if he has done as the OP suggested and done some damage by trying to drive it too far, too fast, is frantically trying to get it repaired and he and it will surface again once its running again.
