Renewing my licence

Evening folks, ive just recieved my renewal form from the dvla as im coming upto 45.wots the precedure as im baffled doh lol. Do i fill in and send it back and what do i do with the medical form? Cheers

the medical form you need to give to a doctor who will do your medical, you have to pass the medical and send the lot back together

no medical form, no licence

take the medical form to a doctor and he will give you a medical, there is a charge for this, then send it off to dvla and your licence will be valid for another 5 years until your next medical

don’t go to your doctor though…will cost you double…

driversmedicals.com/
this is the place the drivers in work use when they don’t want to go to see company doctors

I read on the form that i have to go to a doctor of their choice. Is that right or can i use my own gp?

your alright if company etc paying …if not go elsewhere own doctors charge double ish…

Can i go elsewhere?,why does ur own gp charge dbl?,sorry to go on lol

PM ROG on here before you do anything he was on about a way to save you money on medical a or something

I wonder if changing your photo now will extend that D4 medical date by 5 years ? - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=106565

your gonna frighten him now ROG…

your doctor will want about £90
you can get it done from a doctor that will do lots of them in a day and want about £40 to £50
the driversmedicals.com/ one is what the agency staff use when I they need them
as the company don’t pay for them

you can use your own GP, but, it will be a lot more money than going to one on the link above

advice in eye sight section go to spec savers or similar
get them to fill in that part not the doc had bother
few years doc nearly put me off the road

Going to your own doctor can be expensive,£100 or more.Why?.Ask the doctor!
Go to a doc that specialises in HGV medicals, mine has been charging £30 for the last few years.
Go to an optitians first to get page 1 of the D4 completed.
Your optician is a better bet than your doctor as if like mine, they can specify new specs if you need them and will complete their page of the D4,whereas if your doc does your eyesight test and there’s a problem,he can put you down as a fail!
See the previous post.

doc did fail me had to take it up with dvla
what a stressful time till finaly spoke to a great guy
at dvla.fully agree with last post

Number 1…Go and have your blood pressure taken before your medical.
Gives you the chance to get pressure down before actual test.
Number 2…As stated Specsavers for the eye test they seem to be spot on,know what is required.
Unless you consider eyesight in BOTH eyes is perfect.

When you have the medical do NOT develop ‘White Coat Syndrome’ fear of the quack ,it sets your blood pressure off.
I don’t know what your relationship with your quack is, mine is happy with the few quid I have in wallet which I usually
ensure is about 40 quid.
And RELAX.

new doc is brill but they arnt geared up right for eyes test
spec savers were good docs just have wall chart
u want the right optician suroundingshelps a lot

No problem did mine in March of this year, was advised to get my eyes tested which I did , this will prevent you from failing the eye test and also can pick up other health issues.

Just read the notes that a accompany the forms and take your time filling them out all you need to do is provide a urine sample this can be done on the day of your medical which takes about 15 minutes mine cost £80.00 nothing to worry about.

I always find it best to have an opticians report before the medical…Best to get any eye issues sorted before the medical…I have used y own GP on both occasions ,1st one was free …I went to reception to pay ,and before I could say a thing, receptionist snapped at me and said I have to book my self in on the computer ,so I did as told …So I never paid    …This year reception where more accommodating and polite so I think I paid £60 ,though work reimbursed me …Keep off the beer before medical ,helps blood pressure   …And there is no longer an urine sample test …Personally I think the medical is a bit of a farce ,mainly answering questions
