I suppose the other 33 drivers will also be recieving a similar punishment, though I wont be holding my breath!
Pete.
Considering theirs another HGV driver at the moment who is going to escape any kind of punishment despite killing 6 people through lying on his job application and his license medical,Id say its extremelly harsh for what happened.
His driving was both dangerous and stupid, the sort of driving that gets all lorry drivers a bad name, but that does seem a bit harsh.

Yep, viewed against that lying piece of excrement in Glasgow exceptionally harsh.
Bloody good job, perhaps a wake up call for 90% of London’s tipper drivers.
tachograph:
- Banned from driving for 2½ years.
- Must take an extended driving test before driving again.
- Eight month prison sentence suspended for two years.
- 300 hours of unpaid work.
- Court costs of £600.

Yes, agreed. If it was early morning, no other vehicles on the road at that time it would almost acceptable However, cos of ‘social meeja’ it went viral and to set an example, they threw the book at him

Who loads of people jumped on the sympathy bandwagon for. Anyhow, I wonder what will happen to the Grittenham Haulage driver, Bath tipper crash? That’s all gone quiet.
I remember seeing this clip on here some time again, well before any legal action was pursued and thinking that idiot needs his license pulled. As to severity, I think a three month driving ban would have been sufficient and sent out a clear message.
I frequently drive these type of tippers through agencies and often it is the employer giving an unrealistic number of loads they expect that causes drivers to do stupid things. For me, if I get stuck in traffic or encounter other delays, then I drop a load rather than drive like a nutter putting other road users at risk.
It’s never acceptable at anytime
Got what he deserved what did it save him 5 seconds, just shows the standard of driving in this industry.
Once went for a job on tippers but was turned down cos I didn`t have enough points on mi licence
I would say that the sentence is fair and commensurate to the offence. The only reason we think it is harsh IMO is that we’re used to hearing about ludicrously lenient sentences for far more serious offences. Time to toughen them up maybe?

That standard of driving couldn’t really have been anything less than a dangerous driving charge. While many drivers seem to under estimate just how seriously the law views that offence. With prison being a very real possible result. On that note the fact that there were no injuries is actually why the sentence was a lot more lenient than it would have been if he’d have hit someone on the roundabout or while on the wrong side of the road.Or for that mattter if the vehicle ahead had made an emergency stop.
He was naïve to think he would get away with it imo. You never know who has a dashcam and they will only become more prevalent. You can’t expect to get away with driving like that anymore.
you want to road a jcb 3cx about , then you will see some wild overtaking maneuvers
Same old tipper drivers chasing their arses all day.
What are Matthews (Suffolk) like to work for? Just wondering if they pressure drivers then hang them out to dry when things go wrong.
Some people are so reckless that harsh punishment is the only thing that is going to curb their irresponsible and dangerous behaviour. We are all better off now that idiot is off the road.
Its not even a roundabout its a blob in the road
Talk about ott. What a stupid road layout. There’s a mini roundabout near me like this (on a quieter road) and if you picture the one in the photo it’s similar but has parked cars on the left after the roundabout. I seen people regularly take it on the right and imo it’s safer to do this than go round it on the left. I’m talking cars here as said obstacle is on a 7.5t restricted road, however the road does allow access and if an artic was to do it there’d be no option but to take it on the right.
Back to the case in point if 33 drivers have done it in 24 hours it’s patently obvious that the fault primarily is with the road design. A bit like the ridiculous chicanes put in by council office workers needing to justify their pointless jobs.
