No,you got it wrong there.God designed ■■■ and wants us to enjoy it.There are Bible verses about that too.Look at the book of solomon.
But we have to exercise self control, surely you agree we cant just go around ■■■■■■■ after every attractive woman we come across. What would happen when you go to a busy shopping centre in the middle of summer? If I didnt exercise self control,I would be ■■■■■■■ after every attractive woman that came near.It wouldnt be long before I either got arrested or my head punched.A woman isnt designed to be shared between many different men,so God has these rules for our benefit.
Same with food,if you eat too much chocolate, you get fat,so,again, its in your intrests not to overeat
Not read the whole thread but here is my view
I have no problem with anyone believing something as long as they know the difference between BELIEF and FACT
The issues seems to arise when those with a belief think their belief is fact
I know you hate me for bringing this subject up,Ive had it all before when we were street preaching. The hostility we got there,so I expected it but you know,we only get one crack at this.We are in the permitted time to turn to Christ.
Btw,yes,Im guilty but I rage war against sin, maybe ■■■■ is the most difficult sin to kill.

Read the ■■■■ post man…
Quote: ‘‘Which is controlled by different people on different levels which should suffice, but hey, let’s call it a sin’’. :unquote.
I don’t give a flying ■■■■ what Solomon said.
As for the diet thing it was purely an ANALOGY ,.again I control it on my OWN terms,.and not what Solomon,.Solomon King, or Solomon ■■■■ Grundy tells me to do.
Solomon doesnt tell you what to do.But God does have that right.Dont you realise you dont own your own body.
You dont have the right to lay down the rules and parameters of what is right and wrong. If we lived in such a world, your next door neighbour would have a different view and the next guy would have another view and so on.The result=chaos

Sorry mate, but are you a bit thick or what?
Nobody is talking about breaking the law, I am talking about everyday situations, as far as right and wrong goes concerning myself,.I can and will make those decisions and judgements myself,.and not be controlled by some ■■■■ religion or another.
And please stop bombarding me with b/s from the Bible, how many more times…I ain’t interested in it.

‘Street preaching’ ffs.
Don’t you get it?
There’s a definite message in there somewhere .
Read the room mate.
I didnt mean preaching,we were just handing out leaflets, but one thing surprised me.Everyone had some sort of opinion on Christianity, usually strong opinions.

So do you belive in God then…

I ain’t surprised mate, if I’m on a day out in town with wife and kids shopping or going for a coffee,.the last thing I want is a load of brainwashed morons trying to ‘invite me into the fold’
Just leave us alone !
You would get a ‘very strong opinion’ off of me also, in a ‘‘Go and ■■■■ off’’ type of style.
Nobody can be arsed with it., go and tell your mates.
Most people just walked around me when they seen me handing out leaflets,no problem. Some of them took the leaflet, then tossed it on the floor once they realised what it was about. And then there were the ones who wanted to start debating.
If it saves one soul then its worth it,thats the way I looked at it

Deluded.
Just listen to yourself man.
I’m both religious and a betting guy.
It is said that the latter - are “Eternal Optimists”…
If you go to an Irish Racecourse, you’ll find Nuns and Roman Catholic priests there, not preaching “Thou shalt not punt” but actually joining in with the festivities.
Next Week, we see the start of the famous Cheltenham National Hunt Festival in this country.
Go there, and every other person you see - will be solid Irish, and likely Catholic to boot…
“I know we’re sinners - but make us winners!” - might be their “Prayer”
Now step outside the world of “Belief”, and you’ll find a world of concrete-minded people, who are closed to anything new, closed to having their collective minds changed about anything.
“I don’t gamble, because it’s for Mugs.”
“I don’t gamble - because I can’t stand all the losing all the time”.
One could replace the word “Gamble” there with “Belief” or “Do God”…
IF there were an apparent “Instant Reward” for becoming a believer - then everyone and his dog would be doing it, because it makes prudent sense to do so. If all you can see are “instant penalties” however (Ridiculed by colleagues, definitely not better off financially, no healthier…) - then what sane person WOULD be a convert, and join the “God Squad” as we believers are so often labeled.
No, not every person of faith need be an Evangelist nor “Public Speaker”. I suggest that may be more the calling of individuals who had some “public presence” beforehand.
It is a hard sell indeed, otherwise - to have someone previously not liked and widely recognized get listened to at ALL, should they one day become “Of Faith” eh?
Wasn’t “Tony Blair - doesn’t do God” said of him prior to the 1997 election, in case him being outed ‘as a believer’ - then alienated the Godless rabble that form the bulk of Labour voters? He wanted his full majority in the 1997 election, not leaving it to chance that “Tory Unpopularity” alone - would see him safely into Number 10 for the decade he likely already had planned for himself at that point…
I didn’t vote for him, in any case. This poster - made absolute sense to me, despite it not being a winning poster for those who put it out there.
Changing the subject,
Who would you rather be offered a job by, and take seriously?
A colleague who bangs on about “How good it is, working at XYZ’s Yard” OR the Gaffer of that yard, who offers you a £30ph contract?
The meanings of everything - are in the people that speak, demonstrate, or show you thus.
Not everything that is told you is a “Con”, and life wouldn’t be much to anyone if that were the case - would it. We all need to keep our minds open, and “Permit ourselves to be sold-to” once in a while.
Your life, and dare I say - your soul depend on it, long-term!
Unbelievers tend to make God in their own image, don’t like what they see, and then abandon God as much as they would choose to abandon themselves, along with their own hopes and dreams. A horrible state of affairs, which I personally, just wouldn’t be able to countenance. I’m frankly amazed that there always seems to be a steady stream of people that suffer things like “Depression” or “Poverty”. Both states are entirely “in-the-mind” imo.
^^^^
Classic.
Actually took time to read all that …none the wiser.
Not a ■■■■ scooby.
Winseer,.the master of drivel,.tangents and general gobledeegook.
I could say the same about people interested in the 4 F’s…
Football, Family, F…ing, and Ferraris…
I’ll have a gloat at the way Liverpool thrashed Man United 7-0 over the weekend though. If it makes the news, even those like me who don’t follow football - get a chuckle out of it!
Each to their own.
Not everyone wants or can afford “Life Insurance”, let alone feels they need such a thing.
Not everyone wants to Gamble, get laid every friday night without fail, stuff themselves silly at least once a week, get rat-arsed every weekend, get a token tacho infringement at least once a year, refuses to work overtime ever, or even would rather go to a football match than have a quiet night in with the Mrs, “on a promise” at the end of the evening…
“Freedom” means 100 people could be doing 100 different things at any point.
Who is anyone to prevent someone else doing what they want at any point?
There’s enough Liberal still left in me to argue “Live and let Live”.
I’ll not criticize anyone else for their chosen lifestyles, but it would be nicer if we could all dodge the regular bullets of being criticized for ours too…

You know what mate?..
You should start a Trucknet side competition.
Maybe call it…
‘‘Try and work out wtf Winseer is rambling about’’.
So hey!..I’ve done just that.
It has not passed me by that you may be implying that the description you describe may be your perception of me?..or am I reading too much into it, and/or feeding my already overblown ego.
Anyhoo assuming you do mean me, let’s break it down.
Life insurance? …Not a ■■■■ clue what you mean.
The rest?..
Ok,.I’ll hold my hands up, but maybe only about 85% accurate, but I ain’t ashamed of that,.as I have a life, with a stunning wife,.and many friends all of which I spend a lot of time with…so what’s the problem.
Difference between me and you though mate is I don’t give a flying ■■■■ what anybody thinks about me…in REAL life,.never mind a bunch of strangers on a truck forum…if I rub people up the wrong way, so be it, again not a ■■■■ is given…again real life and forum.
And if I’m perfectly honest,.a lot of the time it is just stick,.because part of me loves confrontation, and I like to be disliked… it’s much more fun.
Maybe you should try it sometime instead of eternally playing the victim,.and moaning about how badly done to you are…because to be brutally honest mate, nobody cares.
News flash, you bring it all on YOURSELF.!!
So maybe you should concentrate on yourself rather than me…
If you don’t like, or can’t take criticism stop laying yourself wide open to it, thus attracting it.
Do what I do…don’t give it a second thought…and oh yeah, try and get out more.
It makes for a better quality of life.
That’s Dr Rob’s hard line no frills ti the point counselling session done for the day.
Anybody else?
Robroy. You say religion is repressive and restrictive and some religions are,for example,in the catholic system we werent allowed to eat meat on fridays and in the muslim religion,as you know, they have to fast for a month, but ,given that your comment was aimed at me and we are a sola scripture church, which means we only go by the Bible only, can you tell me where in the Bible this oppression and restrictions are.Or if you dont know, perhaps you can stand corrected.
Now it does tell you to fast sometimes, but again this has been proven to be healthy,to occasionally give the digestive system a break.
Also, you called me conceited, maybe you will take that back too.Pride is one of the deadly sins, the root of all sorts of evil

Rob might not have that kind of info to hand, but I’ve got some: Check these verses from your precious “good book”: You want to try this malarkey in the modern world? You’ll be strung up by your scrotum (and not in the fun way!
)
u A wife is a man’s property:[/u] You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. Exodus 20:17
u Daughters can be bought and sold:[/u] If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. Exodus 21:7
u A raped daughter can be sold to her ■■■■■■:[/u] 28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives. Deuteronomy 22:28-29
u Collecting wives and ■■■ slaves is a sign of status:[/u] He [Solomon] had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 1 Kings 11:3
u Used brides deserve death:[/u] If, however the charge is true and no proof of the girl’s virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. Deuteronomy 22:20-21.
u Women, but only virgins, are to be taken as spoils of war: Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man,[/u] 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. Numbers 31:17-18
u Menstruating women are spiritually unclean:[/u] 19 “‘When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening. 20 “‘Anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean. 21 Anyone who touches her bed will be unclean; they must wash their clothes and bathe with water, and they will be unclean till evening. 22 Anyone who touches anything she sits on will be unclean; they must wash their clothes and bathe with water, . . . 30 The priest is to sacrifice one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. In this way he will make atonement for her before the LORD for the uncleanness of her discharge. 31 “‘You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place,[a] which is among them.’” Leviticus 15: 19-31
u A woman is twice as unclean after giving birth to girl as to a boy:[/u] A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. ‘ 3 On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. 4 Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5 If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding. 6 ” ‘When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering. Leviticus 12: 1-8
u A woman’s promise is binding only if her father or husband agrees:[/u] 2 When a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said. 3 “When a young woman still living in her father’s household makes a vow to the LORD or obligates herself by a pledge 4 and her father hears about her vow or pledge but says nothing to her, then all her vows and every pledge by which she obligated herself will stand. 5 But if her father forbids her when he hears about it, none of her vows or the pledges by which she obligated herself will stand; the LORD will release her because her father has forbidden her. . . . . A woman’s vow is meaningless unless approved by her husband or father. But if her husband nullifies them when he hears about them, then none of the vows or pledges that came from her lips will stand. Her husband has nullified them, and the LORD will release her. 13 Her husband may confirm or nullify any vow she makes or any sworn pledge to deny herself. Numbers 30:1-16
u Women should be seen not heard:[/u] Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 1 Corinthians 14:34
u Wives should submit to their husband’s instructions and desires:[/u] Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Colossians 3:18
u In case you missed that submission thing first time around:[/u] Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Ephesians 5:22-24.
And what about a bit of Biblical exhortation to genocide?
1 Samuel 15:3
Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.
Exodus 17:14
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.”
Numbers 24:20
Balaam’s Fifth Message
Then Balaam saw Amalek and spoke his message:
“Amalek was first among the nations, but their end will be utter destruction.”
Remarkably similar to Hitler’s ideas of blotting out Judaism from the world, don’t you think?
Most of those verses are from the Old Testament befote Jesus came with the new covenant. They show the result of man’s rebellion against God.
They dont apply in todays world, but a woman should submit to her husband. It is one of the things I struggled with because I dont want my wife to a slave to me.I even took the matter up with the elders, who told me,yes,a man is the leader of the family, but here is the important part. The Bible instructs the husband to love his wife as he loves his own body ,so ,yes,he has authority over his wife, but he is duty bound not to misuse that authority,so its not a problem.
