I see Reid Transport back up and going again trading under the name TST tomorrow service today
There old logo
Their wagons could move just abit
no doubt the subbies will be queuing up to get their old runs back, mabey the will be trying to sell back the trailers and plant they kept in liew of earnings when he went ■■■■ up and left them stranded with no ferry bookings etc to get home again…
+1
They will definitely help the haulage job in the north !!
No doubt lining up another business for a fall
i dont know how they get away with constantly shutting shopowing millions on a monday and starting up on a tuesday as another.
anyone subbing for them this time definitely deserves all they will eventually get ,at least all the drivers will lose is a weeks wages.itl be interesting to see whos desperate enough to deal with them
pilots not drivers ,wonder if they will be quite as fast this time round.
Is the roadside memorial still at the side o the road east o Dumfries at the cottages at the Racks junction /boghead farm.
I used to see their motors stopped at times putting flowers at it.

never noticed that before.might be a tad harder with digicars instead of flying by wire etc,but where theres a will? its not as if vosa wont know whos pulling the strings,so time will tell to see if they get the ton of bricks treatment similar to sawyers, hannon, and the mushroom mobs, digicars,or licences revoked.hence theres a sence of legal running with them now. once they get a few tangs running again, then it might be back to normal for a while till they come under scrutiny again. itl depend on whether its trip money or not.i don’t know anyone working for them yet,so time will tell.no doubt itl just be a case of busy poor men scrabbling for subbie scraps with another finger scraping it off the top, when the rates quoted wouldn’t pay before the subbies get the scrapings anyway.
the lecy pole used tae have a wreath on it ,but the flowers etc were over the fence at the old farm steading.
mmm yes I remember they were on trip money.
I can remember reading the report the accident in the local rag iirc the ave speed from the ferry until it happened was in the high 60s. I never ever saw and want to see anything like what happened that night ever again jimmy
things run a tad slower now even when your running with the boat traffic around you. from the cairn to passing Carlisle vosa would be a frowned upon by some, 1 hour 50 mins or thereabouts if your mostly lit the whole road now on a quiet night with no cars holding you back.( assuming its the right boat traffic) as usual, its best to be on the cb for the updates and the help with overtaking etc. ( not forgetting the craic) its never a pretty sight no matter who you see wrecked though.its not so bad when someone just ploughs a field, but I never like to look when its a head on etc,and I despise those that do.i think the poor sods deserve whatever privacy they can salvage with rescue guys around them.
aye the weird thing was it was a field ploughing by one o the Dundalk drifters in the afternoon ,and they set up traffic lights at the cottages because o the verge and that was it…we heard the explosions, got up and looked down the hill : .
The CB was good in the day coming down into Creetown by the old concrete works over the narrow brig …next stop the Moss café.

*wrong company
Are you thinking of the same outfit. There was a tipper firm called Reid based in minishant. Not the blue and white irish aeroplanes.
Awe happysack that is who am thinking of! Not got a clue who you are talking about then

What a class establishment that was. Large teapot with 10 stewed T bags in, Hell of a strong brew that. Only good thing was the mince and tatties, stodge food for friday night beer session.
As for the carpark( if thats what u could call it ) they large potholes had aborigines climbin out them. ■■■■■■ huge.

I got snowed in there once and with only a daycab,no heater/guy j4 180 gardner,(you know the story),then I had to kip I the old hut round the back they used as driver accommodation…i woke due to the cold in the middle of the night, and spend a interesting 5 mins watching a rat eat food from the table next to me…ooohhhh the good old days…
aye hygene ,spoons on chains lol used to stop there when I was learning tae drive a real shock tae the system so yrs later when I had to take folk out to learn I took them there to see what the reaction was …jimmy
as far as I remember,it never changed…that included the menu, and the tiles in the bog.the only bad thing about it was if you were meant to be taking a quick break and it was busy with trunkers at night etc, your break was up before you saw your chips, and had to wolf them down in 2 mins to catch up again…i took a seatcover with me once and stopped at a little chef …afterwards she started gobbing off about the poxy hole I took her to for some grub…next time we stopped,i took her into the moss…end of complaining…
