The delights of the Moss. What about the upstairs “executive” washroom?? No shower, washbasin and bath with the oldest gas geyser I have ever seen. It was £1 deposit for the bath plug. Had a look at it once but never used it.
No wonder it was filthy it was open 24 hours 365 days a year, never closed for cleaning and in the winter there was a coal fire coughing and spluttering coal dust and sparks everywhere.
For all its faults its sadly missed, food was not haut cuisine but reasonably priced and no worse than a lot of places.
the choke and puke watering holes that have now closed may have not been exactly world class cuisine, but theres no new alternative in the uk.i do remember getting the hugest plate of chips ever in ecclefechan one night though…sausage egg and chips on a plate the size of a bin lid…even by truckie standards it was ott. I still managed to finish it though, but the drive down the M6 was torture till it wore off a bit.it was even more torturous as I was clean wrecked heading to Glasgow at the time, been up for days, and by the time I shovelled it in,and headed out again,i forgot I was heading home, and thought I was going out.i was passing fleece just before penrith before I tried to remember what was on the trailer and where it was going…what a ■■■■■ ![]()
back on topic again…it wont matter what it says on tst trucks…everyone is still just going to call them reids again… ![]()
look at the bright side …they are going to make the Donegal Mafia look like Tesco drivers…

It must be his lad(s) running it by now, he would be way past it by now surely.
And which subbie (if any still exist) is that brave ?
as far as Im aware, apart from the Volvos, there 6 merc actros delivered today…needless to say its trip money, but £220 as far as Birmingham, and £250 for further south… ALL LEGAL!!!..come off at larne, swap truck for van…go home, and meet van at larne once your trucks tipped/loaded etc…there looking for drivers, but if that’s the case, and I wont take offence if I stand corrected, then that’s an absolute gift,as well as a new truck to boot…so the subbies might be taking a risk, but dennisons, and merc, must be doing a bit of thumb chewing as well?..and before someone says,if there driving a van home, then its still other work and all that pish, then its Ireland, and nobody cares… ![]()

It’s a relatively long run from the Fleece down to Penrith, or even gate 41, did you get spun at The Fleece?
nope, sods law dictated when I was trying to workout where I was going and what I had on the back without looking at the notes,I was just past fleece…penrith here we come…clean wrecked, and theres an hour and a bit of my life il never see again…this was years ago when it was 1 logbook for days, another 1 for nights, and one for when you couldn’t get the other two to workout…still the biggest plate of chips ive ever seen though . ![]()
