.
A while ago I was unfortunate to be in the Wembley area and needed something quick, the McDonalds there was undergoing a refurb and only the drive through window was open. Although it wasn’t open to vehicles Everyone was crowding around the collection window trying to order stuff, pay for it and collect and there were no ‘menu’ boards either!
My Mrs used to be a copper in Tilbury, the McDonalds in Grays liked the uniforms in and out and would provide freebies and would take the officers name.
She went in one day with a colleague called PC Love, our name is McDonald so when asked for their names they replied “Love” and “McDonald”
I once had to walk thru the drive thru, there was no problem at all, it was near closing time and they had just mopped the floors etc, funny thing was, there was 2 GDs in the queue in their patrol car, nobody batted an eyelid! This was in Orleans in France.
I’ve read about this happening before. I’m a bit puzzled by it because the object of being in business is to sell as much of your product as possible, and there seems no logical reason to refuse to trade with somebody who turns up on foot.
Possibly the answer is to ask a friendly passing drive-through customer to purchase your food for you and meet them on the other side.
well they let horses through, never tried it myself though
Although it sounds ridiculous, I can quite understand it, if you get run over my a chav’s car while stood on the road, the supervisor will have to clean up the mess and then fill an accident report out for the coroner.
Health And Safety works both for and against you!

I’ll have to try that with mine!
He’s called “Danny” and he’s a Gypsy Vanner, he’s a sweetie!
When I stopped for a 45 a little while ago at Brampton Hut, the McD’s was being refurbished and ONLY the drive thru was open. Another driver told me that even though it was the only part open, you could not buy on foot! So the only choices left for the lorry drivers were the fuel station or the hotel restaurant. You’d have thought that they could have made exceptions during that time.
Dave the Renegade:
Why didn’t you go inside and orfer your food,or wasn’t it open ?
Was thinking the very same, being a 24hr Golden arches … thought it would have been open
I got served at night in the Kings Lynn one on foot, complain about the ■■■■

I don’t own him but I do care for him and sweep up his ■■■■ etc!
I spend a lot of time with horses, I’ll start a new thread in Bully’s bar to see who else does.
this is the email i got back from HQ in mcdonalds
Thank you for contacting us about your recent visit to the Newark restaurant.
I understand that our staff refused to serve you at the drive-thru facility as you were hoping to personally place an order at the window, as your particular vehicle would be impossible to access the ‘drive-thru’ lane. Clearly, a situation of this nature would cause upset and frustration.
I would like to clarify that our McDonald’s Drive Thru facility is designed to serve customers using road-going motor vehicles, as defined by the Road Traffic Act 1988. In other respects, use of the drive thru lane by pedestrians and cyclists, in the main will not be served, as balance we are concerned that given the lane is designed for road vehicles, pedestrians especially could compromise their safety. Certainly, depending on the situation discretion could be used but this would be entirely up to the management team for any restaurant. Nevertheless, I am sorry that you felt let down on this occasion.
As part of our on-going developments for restaurants around the country, who have extended their hours of business, we are looking at introducing specific new ‘walk up’ access areas within the premises, which will be safer for pedestrians to use. These will, of course, help to ensure customers such as yourself, will be able to use the restaurant, despite the in-store dining area being closed.
Again, thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact us.

Unbelievable.
Wonder if they’d serve you on a pushbike?
If it had been me and they’d refused to serve me I’d have done my best to get my truck round, I’ve got a crane so could lift any barriers out of the way.
Yeah, I wonder if you went and started visibly unhitching the unit in their car park if they’d suddenly change their mind.
I wondered if it was some planning issue but, from their response, it looks like some twerp’s just got a few gold stars on a name badge and gone mad with power.
I got an artic into one at paisley last Monday. Coffee and a ■■■■ no questions asked about blocking the car park up… It was only 11.30am though.
I suggest a 45 over the entrance.
Just drive up to the 7’ barrier in the artic, get out and scratch your head and point out that you are driving a road-going motor vehicle, as defined by the Road Traffic Act 1988, and that you are hungry.

discretion
Not a word that is understood by ‘those who like to say no’!!! You know the type, VOSA, police, various store managers & most security guards.
Some people just like to show you how they are simply more powerfull than you & don’t they just love to SAY ‘NO’!!!
Ross.
