Refused at 24hr McDonald’s

.one sunday evening i off loaded my load in hilton meats in huntington and my plan was to go to the 24hr tesco to buy a loaf of bread and a pack of ham to see me through the night. so when i phoned back to my office for a back load details i was told that i was loading in eddie strobarts in newark. at this point i said to myself that i wouldnt go to tesco because i knew there was a 24hr mcdonalds beside stobarts in newark. i carried on to newark were i arrived at mcdonalds drive thru at about 1am. now common sence told me that i wouldnt get my lorry around the drive thru so i double parked my lorry and walked up to the window. i knocked the window and asked if i could place an order.the young fella told me he couldnt serve me because i was on foot. i told him that i was a lorry driver and pointed to my lorry across the way, and i wouldnt be fit to do a drive thru. he said he was sorry and he had to refuse to serve me.he also told me that he was the store supervisor and had the right to refuse me. as a lorry driver i feel that truckers are not welcome to call at McDonald’s 24hr at night. i dont think its fair. i was out doing a nights work and i was refused a meal because i’m a lorry driver. i’m asking all to boycot all mcdonalds restaurants including motorway services…i can’t help feel but angered and disgusted that i was refused a meal simply because i am a lorry driver,NOW,wouldn’t the tabloids and truckers magazines love to hear this…is it the same in ireland

Why not make a complaint to MaccyDs HQ? I had no problem at Becton last night! Then the doors were open to the public all night! Maybe they are scared to open in Newark? A bit rough around there!

The geezer done you a favour, McDonald’s is total ■■■■ food

its not because you are a lorry driver its because you were on foot.

I know its a stupid rule and I’ve heard of it before but the rule has nothing to do with your profession.

You’re aff your heid. Its called a drive thru not a walk thru there is a clearance board on the drive thru and you dont meet this clearance hence you cannot use the drive thru. What is your issue with that? Mcdonalds don’t cater for lorry drivers because they do not have the space to cater for lorries.

I’d put there windys in!

I don’t have a problem with this. If your not in a vehicle that fits in the drive through, you shouldn’t get served. Imagine if there was a mix of cars and people on foot. First hint of an accident and McD’s would get sued for millions.

I can’t work out why people don’t ‘get’ this.

The drive thru is an Americanism for fat ■■■■■ that are too lazy to get out of their car to buy another fat ■■■■ meal…

I hate drive thrus…

I boycott Mcd’s anyway on the basis that:

a) the food is utterly appalling
b) see a)
c) the staff there are about as thick as it’s possible to get - and I can’t stand the ‘have a nice day’ mentality…

Stick with the bread and ham matey!

I pulled in a wagon and drag at the macadee’s on the A50 - BIG mistake btw, had to drive out the entrance onto the A50 the wrong way :open_mouth:
I’d noticed a fuel station in there, so though, they must have fuel delivered… yeah, in a dinky toy apparantly

Anyway, put my truck in the car park and ordered no probs, we had a good laugh about trying to get the truck through the drive through if they’d refused to serve me on foot, but there was no issue.

Maybe you failed the attitude test? And if I was in that position, I’d have given it a go at getting the truck through, got it so nobody else could get in, then walked around and explained the situation that you need food, have about 5 mins before you’re due a 45 mins break and would be happy to take it where you are, bet they’d serve you

5;

I rang 1 place & asked before I turned up, they said they’d serve me, turned up an hour later, called them up again & they held up the traffic for me @ the mic order point to approach the window & pay so I did, few minutes later got my food(wich was crap btw but I was starving) & off I went…

I suppose you could always just e mail/write a complaint to Mcds but they will probably just spout back H&S at you .
maybe next time take your 45 over there front door

I replied to this on the irish site but in london they serve every one on foot through the drive through window never had any probs so prob just that particular place

You lucky bugger, I had a Mcdonalds at 01:15 this morning, I feel violated, I can still taste it now. :imp:
They want to be the only supplier of CHIPS for the Olympics, thought they only did fries, bloody things tasted like they were boiled then dipped in dirty old fat.

Bloody horrible.

you could have tried explaining to cars coming in that you need a ride to get fed…“I’m a lorry driver, can I get in your car”, good luck with that one!

I’ve heard of them refuse the fire service at night too.

Once went through a macdonalds drive through after a night out, and I was sat on the roof of the car, legs through sunroof, shouting my order, 5 seat car, 7 of us ‘in’ it, got served no probs, pulled up in car park to eat food and saw some people on foot refused on ‘health and safety’ grounds, laugh?? I nearly fell off the roof

LR18-8:
its not because you are a lorry driver its because you were on foot.

+1

Typical moaning wagon driver. It’s only McDonalds, get over it!

Why didn’t you go inside and orfer your food,or wasn’t it open ?

I hate drive thrus

I hate them too, especially when the the counter inside is totally empty yet there’s still a stack of lazy ■■■■■ in cars waiting at the drive thru for half an hour…most of them just sit in the car park and eat anyway, its not as if they’re busy, busy must eat on the move!!!
■■■■■,the lot of them!!!

the staff always seem to give them priority over people waiting inside too??they should be made to wait even longer if they are too ■■■■■■■ lazy to get out their cars.
