Thing is when i took the job i had no class 1 experience, theres next to no artic jobs round here and the few that pop up are quickly taken by experienced drivers. So to get the experience i want an also drive the wagons i want i took the job there, left a decent tipper job to go there too. But now im there im probably one of the few who will come on here and say good things about RB, I really dont get why people have to come on forums and whinge an whine about how sh#t a company is. There are that many drivers at RB who could an probably would if given the chance, sit in the drivers room all day long an moan about the place, well to me if your at that stage you need to get out.
So its not the best place to work or the best paid, but you are made well aware of how things work before you accept any job offer. Yeah, in a few years when ive got more experience maybe i can be a bit more choosy and say actually, a company that charges for damage,no thanks. But at the minute im pretty happy at RB believe it or not. I get left alone, the work is a doddle and the kit is decent. Im paid on time every week, so what else matters. As i said the paying for damages is far from ideal but for me, as a new C+E driver, its given me that extra bit of caution to think, hang on maybe i should actually get out an check im not going to hit anything.
regards
Lee

Its not putting me off going there (hopefully) either!!!
In fact I have an interview with them next Friday, and money isnt the be all and end all, in fact when I was younger truck driving was all I wanted to do, got my licence 3 years ago now :open_mouth:

No coach companies in Thirsk?

There is, but I dont want to do that anymore…

I have seen them with pre-fab concrete sections, also they do return loads of bricks and tiles from Redland etc

Lightweight! lol

Best time of the year to be looking at coaches…firms just starting to recruit for their upcoming tours.

It would have to be a staggeringly good truck job to get me back on them. Coaching isn’t brilliant but at least the MSA’s are pleased to see us!

MSA’s are the worst things to encounter in your driving career, the food is crap whether you pay 0pence or £4

Not disputing that, but when they are giving you free money…most give vouchers or points that you can spend on things other than their food…i’ll happily take their money!

And the food isn’t too bad, Welcome Break probably the best…their breakfasts are always edible!

Most places you visit have some sort of incentive or reward for coach drivers…many are free food and drink, some include cash payments for bringing your pax in…plus the tips off the punters, not uncommon to clear £100+ for a weeks tour with day trips netting £30-£50. All on top of your wages…getting extra money for doing your job…gotta be a winner?

I know that but to be honest I like my own company…!!!
And I find it hard to be really nice and polite at 6 in the morning

Think you’ve got the wrong company, it’s foodstuffs mainly and maybe a little packaging.

The kind of advice that everyone should heed . . . no matter what type of vehicle you’re driving.

Are you sure it wasn’t the “test trl” that they ( and Scania ) use to take trls for MOT. That has concrete blocks on it :sunglasses: .
I used to work there in the " Wilson’s Transport" days … since it became R.B i’ve not seen them with owt … other than fridges and the odd curtain to do packaging/ GKN blues

I am wrong got them confused with someone else

what I was told at the interview…but of course conor the know it all speaks, but then again as he is so fond of telling everybody else “you are full of it” an head bigger than Birkenhead.

They probably told you it because it was obvious you’re one of those useless tw@ts who can’t even go 100 yards without running into something. I’ve not been in a wagon for 3 years and 3 months now and I bet I could still out reverse a useless halfwit like you.

But as you’re a brain dead halfwit, I’ll explain what they actually said. They said that if the damage was due to driver negligence you’d get billed. Reverse into something because you couldn’t be arsed to get out and see if there was anything behind you and you’ll get a bill. So if you don’t drive like a knob you’ll not get a bill. Whilst its not rocket science to work out what was meant, it is obviously beyond your limited IQ.

If you want to know if I am right ring and ask, Conor is a failed driver who cant even do a shunting job at ES because everybody but him is in the wrong.

Wow, how imaginative. The fact you have to regurgitate something someone else who wasn’t there and had absolutely no idea what happened said just about sums up how brain dead you are. When someone asks you something do you go “baa” like the sheep you are?

You should be called “Dumber Man”. Its knobs like you that give Joe Public the opinion that all lorry drivers are knuckle dragging retards. Care to have a go at posting to a standard that even a primary school pupil is capable of or are you truly thicker than a 10 year old?

As I said a big head of the first order, a very childish mail from someone who dishes it out freely, but cant take it when he gets it back, totally unemployable as a driver, I have a PM from someone who has met him that states I am bang on in my description of conor.

He’s talking ■■■■■■■■, probably regurgitating the same crap the dumbass drivers used to say the same when I worked there. Every parking ticket I put in I got paid for. Didn’t have a smash but saw a driver put a trailer in the ditch between the two yards cos he’d not coupled up and it went straight on. Wrecked the unit, the load and the trailer had to be craned out. He didn’t pay anything…

connors considered reply to my posting, notice the tone of the post, aggressive, rude, arrogant, I try to help where poss on here, and I tell the truth as I know it at the time, I like everybody else INCLUDING big head get it wrong sometimes, I also have posted some pretty good jobs on here from time to time. I will not respond to any more posts by this man as you cant tell someone who knows it all.

click on his username and add him as a foe.

“click on his username and add him as a foe.”

Did think of that JD but his rants are quite amusing really as it’s rare that you come across someone so supremely arrogant, I suspect that his aggressiveness and arrogance are to make up for the fact he has an extremely small willy and feels inadequate, and he has a lot to feel inadequate about I understand judging from the way he bit at my post, I also take great delight in baiting know it all fools like this.

I would be very careful putting this type of info on a public forum. the HMRC are very interested in this type of undeclared income.

Taking this back to the company in the OP, can anyone give any guidance on their driving assessments please? I’m sure it’s fairly standard stuff but if anyone knows any odd things they like/dislike I’d be grateful.

AS far as I am aware they dont have a driving assesment as such i,e an hour with an assesor, but you go with another driver to learn the job and if your a tithead like conor you fail if not you are ok.

Well if I fail I will at least I’ll know where I sit in the grand scheme of the job!! Lets hope I don’t make a complete mess of the reverse onto the bay
