Reed Boardall

I am flabergasted an outfit like this expect the driver to pay for accident damage. It’s 2012 and Reed Boardall is Tesco’s provider of frozen storage. Shocking.

He’s talking bollox, probably regurgitating the same crap the dumbass drivers used to say the same when I worked there. Every parking ticket I put in I got paid for. Didn’t have a smash but saw a driver put a trailer in the ditch between the two yards cos he’d not coupled up and it went straight on. Wrecked the unit, the load and the trailer had to be craned out. He didn’t pay anything…

They don’t and they don’t expect them to pay for parking either. Its the usual knuckle scraper ■■■■■■■■ being spouted. Ask them to show you where it states it in their contract of employment and there’s lots of shuffling of feet and “Bob said you did so it must be true…” :unamused: :unamused:

i went for an interview there in november 2010 and they told me i would be expected to pay for any damage i caused, was told it would not be deducted from wages over time and not have to be paid all at once. i had only just passed my C+E, so wether its a thing they do with new drivers or not i dont know.

its all drivers not just new ones, and contrary to what conor thinks, it is in contract and you do have to sign your agreement to these deductions

i did think i was told it would be in the contract which i would have to sign, but wasnt 100% sure so i didnt post it

I was told that all accidental damage that was caused by the drivers neglect would have be paid for out of the drivers wage. This would be deducted on a weekly basis until it was paid off. I personally find this very hard to accept, and with the wages being so poor it certainly puts you off driving for them.

I am not talking ■■■■■■■■ that is what I was told at the interview…but of course conor the know it all speaks, but then again as he is so fond of telling everybody else “you are full of it” an head bigger than Birkenhead.

If you want to know if I am right ring and ask, Conor is a failed driver who cant even do a shunting job at ES because everybody but him is in the wrong.

Or anyone else who does this kind of thing. Went for an interview years ago, and I’d have been driving a 7.5t for rougly the same money I was on at the time for C+E, but it had an accident clause in the contract, similar to the 1 described, if you break a light, you pay for it, anything upto £500 I think it was. I said no thanks and left.

I go to work to earn money, that’s all, if I wanted to run a truck, then I would and I’d take the good with the bad, these ■■■■■■■ just want the good.

What next, buy your own fuel if you use over 7mpg, buy your own tyres if you get more than 2 punctures per year? It’s got to stop and I for 1 will NOT work for any firm that has that little confidence in my ability to drive safely. Why even bother recruiting HGV drivers■■? Doesn’t sound like it means anything to them.

Now, the job sounds like it should be easy, so probably no damage, but you may take a mud flap off on those stopping blocks in most rdc’s, or those wheel clamp things on the bays etc etc…

:unamused:

I say you chaps I only asked for the wage and conditions , I didnt expect the Spanish inquisition . . . .! and I would gladly pay for my own fuel and tyres. Jim

Well I have an interview on Friday 10th of Febuary :sunglasses:

Good luck DAF95XF, maybe you can put some of the rumours to bed or confirm them for other potential applicants.

Won’t be me obviously, far too far away

Sitting on one of their bays as I type slow as ■■■■!! Watching a driver trying to reverse on to a tight bay, better be careful or he’ll be getting a bill

Maybe getting out and watching them back might of been a better use of your time rather than type a post that was pretty much irrelevant to the thread. Just a thought.

Stevie

Here is another thought Stevie, go ■■■■ yourself. Not bad enough that I’m left sitting here for the last 4 hours but while I’m waiting I’ve to direct traffic in the yard? Not my fault he’s a crap driver. Maybe I’ll go ask for a brush and sweep the yard while I’m at it.

I take it from that well thought out response that you actually agree with me.

Who you work for and what you drive, just so I know never to bother to offer any help if it’s needed when you could do with an extra pair of eyes :unamused: :unamused:

Sammy, must say you sound like a bit of a bell end. Only saying like

if you could stop yourself thinking of me doing stuff to myself for long enough, then there might just be enough capacity left to think - maybe this fella has just passed his test, after all, all driving gods were not born a driving god. or maybe he’s usually better than you, but just having a bad day, even driving gods have bad days. or maybe somewhere in between the two? the fact you’ve been sat there 4 hours is more than likely nothing to do with struggling driver, so why take it out on him. is the yard that dirty?

that’s it, i’ve finished now
