Often wondered lately how it is you can be sat hours waiting to tip at an asda depot and one of boroughbridges “finest” rocks up and gets tipped almost immediately. Turns out every truck they send in they pay £50 to have prioritised no wonder the rates they pay to subbies are peanuts we’re all subsidising there quick turnarounds.

A mate of mine used to be a warehouse manager at Asda Portbury and he reckons it’s depends on whether they need it or not, if it’s not needed urgently they’ll make you wait, we deliver dips from Zorba Delicacies and Asda will always make us wait till booking time because it’s a Bugger to sort out and the pallets need breaking down.

Assuming they do that which I doubt they do because it sounds like the typical drivers waiting room bollox you hear, its probably because when I used to drive for them most of their fleet at any time was sat on loading bays at RDCs waiting to get tipped and it got to ridiculous levels. At Crick it was so bad they employed someone to sit at the Truckstop and ferry trailers to Tesco rather than have drivers sat there 4 or 5 hours.
If their rates are peanuts why are you doing work for them? Fowler Welch must be paying silly money to subbies if the work I’m doing over the next week is anything to go by.
Having first hand experience of driving for reed boardall I can safely say that’s probably just another waiting room rumour. All depends on what your bringing in an how urgent they need it. Lost count of the times that happened to me with other hauliers. But hourly pay quickly made me not give a toss.
Well if it’s waiting room ■■■■■■■■ the memo pinned on the board inside the window at Bedford that I and the chap next to me read and questioned must be ■■■■■■■■ too.
I was driving for them when this came in. Was due to Asda complaining about late deliveries and RB complaining about having lorries waiting in there 3/4 hrs so a drop and drive compromise was made.

About right for the gold old RDC’S whinge and moan when a load is half hour late but couldn’t give 2 ■■■■■ about keeping us on a bay for half a shift and think it’s ok
There is a notice on most of the walls at Asda that they get priority . Drop and drive . In an out in 30 mins . While we are sat about for a few hours gettin paid by the hour . So let them carry on I say . I’m sleeping while earning
I wouldnt worry about them having priority. You aren’t the silly sod being run ragged by the numpties in the office that couldnt organize a ■■■■ up in a brewery. One reason i left was down to how the drivers got treated, just unfair imo. If i ever went there as a driver id be working nights atleast the night shift have an idea of how to do the job!
Cheers
Jonny
Well half a clue lol. I moved from days to nights, much less stress and no multidrops or nasty collections!

Why do you have to keep changing motors if you are a tramper there? Can’t see the logic in it myself and I wouldn’t want to work for a company where you don’t get a unit if you are tramping.
I drive for RB and had a new FH the other day, must have only been on the road a week or so with 7850km on the clock. The thing was a mess, stank of BO & ■■■■, not been washed since new and the centre mat was covered in muck and mud. Every time my hands came of the steering wheel they stank of ■■■■ and had to wash my bedding when I got home to get rid of the smell.
Some people really do live like tramps and obviously don’t give a monkeys about being professional or looking professional.

Because they are along the lines of wanting to keep thw lorries running 24/7. They tried putting drivers on set motors but didnt even last a week. Drivers who had been put on set jobs when it first started hadnt even been told about it! I said when they started it should be trampers with set motors as that would imo be easier to plan but was met with snide remarks. Theres a lot of reasons why i left rb, funny really when i took holidays to go driving for a few weeks they took on someone to replace me as they thought i wernt coming back! Which further drove me to put my notice in for 2 weeks as opposed to the 4 i should have given and refused to do o/t. I do miss a couple things but im on better money, less stressed and as someone told me was like a big weight lifted off my shoulders. But alas i have experience in the office so if i get my license taken off me or i get tired of the road ive a safety net.
Oh as for logic, one traffic operator tried to tell a driver if he timesd 56 by x amount of hours that he would be able to do said collection. So apparently we can go 56 everywhere according to that logic
Cheers

Doesn’t surprise me that they get priority,so they can keep pushing the drivers.
Iv known quite a few lads go there over the last ten years and not one lasted more than 3 months.
Do they still pay £6.■■/hour…?
Pimpdaddy:
