RDC's name and shame (or praise)

tesco snodland is one of the best for tesco’s rarely there more than an hour to tip,you can use the canteen, sit in your wagon, polite and friendly staff too, very good IMO

Gonna have to be careful here or the “good” tips that make an effort will realise they don’t have to treat us like humans and will save a few bob by reducing the standards to the lowest, which for me is Sainsburys at Stoke, 3-4 hours stuck in the “rest room” with the whining food machine and poxy tele.

Praise to canteens:

I’ve managed to get cards for one or two of those places mentioned above as being ‘cashless’ and have not yet been denied. It’s worth asking around to get one - even though some may require a refundable deposit on the card. (I’ve an idea that few drivers seek them out, judging by the often surprised but willing responses that I’ve had).

So, apart from it being a minor ■■■■-ache to find out who sells the cards I’ve remained welcome to buy scoff/brews at those type of places - where the systems were probably installed to stop catering staff fiddling rather than to deny drivers from getting fed/watered.

Keith good to hear that… i was told at peterborough i couldnt get one but aparently if i can get one they work at ALL depo’s? With you saying you have a few was you told different?

All Tesco rdc’s are now making it impossible for supplier drivers, to use the canteen facillities, by way of introducing cards only.I noticed Harlow, didcot and doncastor have now all completed the changeover. What is amusing, is the vending machines and the very minimal comfort chairs supplied to apppease. Yes Tesco i can survive on a bag of crisps and a twix!!

If you want to use the vending machines just ask to use someones card and you give them the cash, most people would be happy to oblige i’m sure.

I seem to spend most of my time between Tescos Southampton and Tescos Chepstow.

southampton I find most of the people there are very friendly. Always up for a bit of a laugh. decent waiting area and normally good turnaround times.

The only problem is that they have gone to the cashless system so we cant use the canteen anymore.

Chepstow? they cant close it soon enough. (early march is the timescale I keep getting.) But They are Miserable, No proper waiting area unless you want to sit on manky wooden benches. The Toilet has been locked for the last 12 years that I can remember probably more. So you have to Walk to the other end of the site.

Gotta agree with alan …southampton beats most tescos…normally treated like a human being rather than something on the bottom of your shoe.
Worse?..peterborough…followed closely by hinckley…normally treated like you got swine flu rather than having brought something they ordered…slow tips…
if you want something nice to look at and a reasonable tip you want middleton…or i think donny…

Morrisons bradford, booked in at 9 15am with 6 pallets straight on a bay all taken off by 9 45am (they were all apples,so no breaking down anything) left at 11 30am :open_mouth: :open_mouth: tossers!!!

I spend my time on the agency split between working for Tesco at Harlow and a local supplier of theres, so I’m in there most days on one side of the fence or other. I’m lucky to have a cashless card as they didn’t plan to give them to agency drivers, but that soon changed when we all spent an hour at the snack wagon every morning when they wanted the trailers back. As for tipping there, you can poke it. I don’t envy some of Cartwrights or Rayments drivers. One backed on the bay when I was picking up a trailer last week, I went to Clacton, Braintree and Bishops Stortford and he was still on the bay when I got back. The firm I work for supplying there only tend to have 10 palletts max so it’s in and out. I’ve noticed a lot of Fowler drivers leave the motors unlocked and say they’re going for a ■■■ then get there heads down. The goods in staff don’t miss them because they never make eye contact and you are only refered to by a bay number anyway. You’re not even a reg number anymore!!! The shunters are all sound in there so they don’t give a monkeys if the driver is in his cab, they don’t agree with it either.

Here’s a tip for you!

Tesco West Thurrock go round the building to the goods out (dead opposite to the goods in) free tea and coffee, no one will say a word cos they have 100+ agency drivers per day in and out.

We all have cards for the canteen but most of us are willing to let outside drivers ‘use’ them, as long as you put the money on it first of cours  contractors/outside drivers get charged a bit more otherwise

Shunters are all top blokes and don’t care if you stay in your cab, most do, just keep an eye on the bay traffic light

Had the great misfortune to go to Morrisons produce RDC at Rushden on Friday.Absolutely no organisation whatsoever.Nearly 5 hrs to tip :imp: No waiting room or at least wasn’t pointed in the direction of one.Just stood in a huddle with their own drivers in the yard.Once on a bay ,just stood inside the building watching them.Even their own drivers didn’t have a good word to say for the place.Only bit of praise I could give is that the toilets were clean  If I never go there again, it will be too soon.
Another place I hate going to is Iceland/Bookers Livingston.Security usually grumpy. At chill goods in,hand notes to an equally grumpy clerk. When finally on a bay, hand keys in then hang about in a corridor with 4 cast-off chairs for about 8-10 drivers.A drinks machine is available. If you need the toilet, can’t go to the one just up the stairs. You have a 5min walk to the main entrance to use the ones there.Apparently,no allowance is made if you have a medical condition which may cause you to need a toilet quickly :open_mouth:

Worst
Sainsburys at Emmerson Green, Bristol. They are rude and arrogant to all supply drivers. The waiting room is small and dirty, you are not aloud to use the canteen to get a meal. One because they don’t want you in there and two because you are in the warehouse breaking down your load for them. Which at leased gives them time to do your paperwork. One god send I’m bared for live from there.

Best
Sainsburys at Allington, Friendly and helpfull from start to finish. On arrival at the gatehouse you get a swift book in, then to goods in you are give a pager directed to the canteen where you can get a hot meal(breakfast 2 sausage 2 bacon 2eggs beans and 2 toast £2.10) and watch T.V in the warm or weather permitting sit outside. When you are tipped you are buzzed back to goods in where your keys and paper work are ready and waiting. If I’m there longer than an hour then they apologise for the wait.

Both these site are ran on contract by DHL how can they be so different.

The “new” ASDA at Abingdon, first truck in at start of day shift, 2 pallets, 1 product. 5 hours to tip, check and return paperwork. security guards don’t understand english, the goods in told me one hour after I had been on site that I did not book in, I asked them if they had my paperwork, then they agreed that I Had booked in. They then “lost” my paperwork.
I never lost my rag, didn’t curse or swear, tried to be polite and friendly at all times.wish I had now!

Perhaps off thread(?) - but this is the ‘diversity’ that the ruling Labour Government covertly smuggled in whilst telling us:

How excellent it is for the benefit of the nation.

How bad, racist and non-British it is to raise the subject.

Conclusion? We bought it.

try b&q and then into asda at doncaster, opposite each other, i spent nearly 3 hours in b&q even tho i was 25 minutes early, came out of there, went into asda with 17 pallets of books, and hey presto over 6 hours later got me paperwork, then a collection at normanton on way back…leeds to doncaster to normanton, back to leeds turned out nto be a 14 hour day…distance work

Happy Keith:

never a truer word spoken in jest  WHO bought it though!? we’ve no say any more; Why?

Well, my attitude towards voting says it all; I refuse to vote because whoever gets in THEY’RE ALL THE SAME :imp:

Bloody do-gooders and red tape (and the idiot politicians) have ruined the country in the last 6 years.

‘… idiot politicians … have ruined the country in the last 6 years…’

Only six years?

Since ‘…idiots…’ also fooled us into the Common market in the 70’s - who has re-voted Euro-loving governments ever since?

Costco Lutterworth, in this morning at 06:40, tipped, checked, paperwork returned, large mug of coffee drank, sausage sandwich eaten, all by 07:10
