RDC's name and shame (or praise)

LIDL`S Newton Aycliffe

I was there this morning no attempt whatsoever to grit the “Ice Rink” (sorry Yard), You could hardly walk there never mind drive … but I still had to wear my Hi-Vis and Safety boots … An absolute farce :imp: :imp: :imp:

i went to coop scudamore rd leics on wed, normally in and out in an hour, but queuing on the road to get in on this visit. but once i got in the gates the goods in woman was going up and down the q with a tray of tea and coffee for the drivers apologising for the delay, never seen this in 21 yrs of delivering to rdcs, made the wait to be tipped a bit more bearable.

She is a good egg, always pleasant, whatever the time of day it is, the lads dont ■■■■ about on the FLTs either, always a "thank you drive" when theyve tipped you…

depends on chill, or Ambient. however the worst rdc for chill stuff is asda skelmersdale, you want to know why? ask them cause i don’nt know why…we don’nt have drop and drive, standard wait is 3 hours if your lucky…ive bin there for much longer. asda washington 40 mins cause we have drop and drive there. The bottom line is evey rdc has a diffrent protocal. if you turn up at an rdc with a curtain sider you will have a long wait , frozen you will have a long wait, chill, well it has to be on the shelf quicker, but that don’t mean squat.
so the worst rdc and frankley i’ve done them all… the worst rdc on the planet…is asda skemasdale and the best is…asda washington…chill stuff…thankyou…oh and by the way if you go to cash un carry then your really in a world of [zb]…jonny

i went to the B&Q rdc in swindon over christmas and while i can’t fault anyone i came in contact with i did get warned by the boss, early or late deliveries of over 30 mins are subject to a £1000 penalty to the supplier which gets passed onto us, security don’t refuse access to the site if you’re early for your slot but log the time and report it. given the problems on our roads i find this hyper rigid system totally unfair

:imp: m&s Barnsley

S/G was less than courteous and even less interested, at least he was english.

On a bay and in to goods in - bloody woman behind the glass hardly looked up and seemed unable to speak - maybe she wouldn’t lower herself :imp: she didn’t say one word - waved a hand at the bottom of the window so I slid the paperwork under it, she didn’t even look at it - just kind of waved a hand back the way I’d came  off I went, to the rest room I’d passed - after a while I worked out I was the only driver in there and eventually I found out I was meant to be at the inside of the bay door.

All sorted and tipped, back to the window - not a word again, just an off hand wave. I’d had enough by now.

off the bay and heading for the gatehouse I decided “■■■■ the pleasentries, I’m off!” which is what I did, went and did my second drop and headed for home - 30 mins from home I remembered the gate pass in my pocket - chuckled all the way back to the yard  work were alright about it when I fessed up, they found it funny! handed me the card and said “keep it as a momento!”

If only the customer saw the other side of the nicey nicey low price attitude, welcome to our store with a greeter and would you like help packing your bag approach when you are in their store. What would they think about their supermarkets then ? I stay away from them now, don’t go to any of them. Went to farmers boy in Bradford a few months ago. The only RDC i’ve been to in over 5 years and got straight in, straight onto a bay. A guy came out and told i had to walk a distance to the security, he didn’t say why, when I got there he gave me the gate pass and said you shouldn’t have gone in without this, i said well don’t lift your barrier up and tell me which bay to go on and let me go through, arse-ole. When I got back to the wagon the shunter guy wanted me to hurry up off the bay as I he was waiting to get on it, “you shouldn’t leave your truck unattended on the bay” he yells, the sensor would get a good run if I was to post my reply. He was a little red faced though to say the least.

I’d echo almost everything Krankee has said with a few additions.

The food at Tesco Southampton is consistently gross and since they introduced the drivers surcharge (double it) I no longer bother, not paying £4.50 for a grizzly pasta bake that looks like it was cooked lastyear.

Tesco Peterborough was always a love/hate one of mine as a one of the foreign girls in the office was exceptionally rude sometimes and would leave you at the gate for 20mins sometimes aswell but the canteen was very good and they’d even let you stay after you were to tipped to go and have some dinner if you’d finished before it was open. They’ve stopped drivers using it now though.

Morrisons Yate deserves special mention for the friendly office staff and fantastic canteen, apparently the lady in charge has proper restaurant experience so that explains the restaurant quality food…huge jacket potato there today, tuna and cheese, the plate was loaded…90p! Morrisons Willand is also a consistently good tip, fast and really friendly staff. All the other Morrisons completely ■■■■.

Tesco Harlow is probably my least favourite, horrendously long tip times (2.5hours minimum usually for a split load), insufficient seating, one filthy dirty toilet, no access to the canteen and vending machines are frequently broken or empty. Had a warning from there a while ago for sitting in the cab, the waiting room seats were all taken and it was peeing with rain outside, no way was I standing up for 2.5hours so I sat in my cab, one place I wouldn’t mind getting banned from.

gotta say A G Barrs in coatbridge is pretty good. 1 hour in and out which included a half hour wait for a bay and 15 mins of me messing about with the curtain tir cables :@

gatehouse staff are friendly even when i couldnt find the weighbridge cause of the snow lol.
forkies just get on with the job and load you 2 pallets at a time with 2 forkies to each truck (when its quiet. it was 2am i was there lol)

isn’t morrisons willand the small place with tight/awkward bays? Only been there once, pretty quick as you say but not somewhere I’ll look forward to going once I’m in artic’s (at least until i’ve got the hang of it  ).

Interesting reading, im tipping Morrisons Wakefield in the morning with ambient, fingers crossed i will get out before my 15hrs are up!

In 7.40 for an 8am tip, got waved onto bay before i had time to park, (next to the canteen) left 8.45, 26 pallets of the same goods so it took a while to check :unamused: but i cant complain, only downside was standing outside under a bit of old plastic waiting for my notes  and filled up with diesel at Morrisons bunkering site over the road, so that was handy.

where would you have put the diesel in if you not across the road

down A17 on way back to Norfolk.

very lucky kindle 2 hrs is a quick tip normaly

I find the Morrissons RCD at Yate to be very good, the staff are all helpful and the canteen is the best i’ve been in, good food and no excess cost for Drivers, and you can stay in your cab.

After hearing horror stories for several years i was worried about delivering to RDC’s when i started driving for J.Baarda of E.yorkshire but tell you what i was pleasantly suprised how well the tips went and how little hassle i got,we delivered fresh produce to Sainsburys & Morrisons and i thought all sites i went to were excellent and the workers there very friendly and i were very thankful and friendly in return.
We back loaded a lot from F.Welch coolchain at Teynham (Teynham wouldnt let us park there overnite but thats cos drivers were takin a dump inbetween the traiulers instead of usin toilets provided which u can understand F.W were not happy)to morrisons bradford/wakefield…asda/wakefield…tesco/donny and i enjoyed goin to them sometimes we had to go in the back to help breakdown but that wasnt a problem i enjoyed the exercise and it helped them do theyre job quicker.I never experienced any problems whatso eva.I enjoyed the job and was there for 2yrs or so and was never rushed but never really held up,if i were slightly held up id just read my book and thats sumet i never get time to do now working on Powder Tankers always rushing about and having snappy batchers telling me how to do my job and talkin to me like dirt, scowling at me if i ask to use theyre kettle and if using the sites toilet most are covered in ■■■■,Bardon sites are all been brought up to scratch slowly…
RDC’s anyday over where i go guys.

Here is my 2p’s worth of the ones i visit.

Sainsburys.

Hams Hall → Metal seats in waiting rooms slow tipping no use of canteen but chocolate and crisps are available in vending machines.

Waltham Point → Everything is great tips can sometimes be bad but the canteen is great showers etc

Emerald Park aka emmerson green. No drivers waiting room so your standing about but tips are quick and you can use the canteen.

Allington → No showers tips vary but canteen facilitys and pager system to let you know when tipped is great.

Feltham → No canteen, no waiting room, dangerous yard when busy but you can leave site and go do what you want

St albans → Canteen no waiting room but ok to sit in cab normally quick tip depeding on shift

Northampton → Canteen, decent waiting room, fairly quick

Sherburn → Quick tip, canteen, waiting room could do with a decent seating area and not a wooden bench.

Haydock → waiting room consists of 3 random old office chairs between 6 drivers, you can use the 23hr canteen to. Tipping times vary must mostly slow.

East Kilbride-> Waiting room poor with 3 seats. You can use the canteen and staff are friendly. Normally 1hr to tip which aint to bad.

Tescos.

snodland and southampton the best full facilitys and good tipping times. Harlow is the worst with no access to canteen and vending machines are empty on a 4hr tip its crap. Staff are misserable bar a couple. Peterborough has 5 seats between 20 drivers. drivers can no longer use the canteen as it has gone onto a cashless sytem. No vending machines bar coffee. Tipping time horrible. Tesco accross the bord are crap and now they have introduced the cashless system there is no more canteen unless you can get hold of a card to buy some food. Managerare required to have a attitude problem on application. What can i say Tesco’s need to get a grip.

Morrisons they vary no canteen use at most slow at times staff can have attitude problems not shoutiing stockton here useless gits.

waitrose again no use of canteen but they are fast and you can pretty much do what you wanna do.
