A bit of broken chep pallet works just as well

I believe it’s generally not considered to be a good idea to tighten ratchet straps with a lever as it makes them prone to snapping.
Are you all weak
You dont wanna be putting too much tension on straps as they will break.
we always used to carry a small crow bar that did the job on loads that needed extra tension on the straps !

The handle on a ratchet is considered more than enough leverage, using an extra lever may weaken the device.

also a good chance of damageing the product.
well there are certain loads specificlly sheet materials that need extra tension and without it the load will move.

And for those you buy the proper tensioners for the job. They are designed to be used as they are manufactured.
To get extra purchase you can use the loose strap through the handle and pull harder.

The load security course our boss sent us on said you should never use any kind of bar or whatever when tightening ratchet straps,it puts excessive tension on the ratchet which could break.
We actually have some ratchets that wind up the other way round, you pull them down to tighten them, rather than having to struggle to push them up.
Here,s what I use effective and cheap
Just used the standard short ratchet on car transporters for years, more than enough pressure from the ratchet alone.
If it needs extensions etc for a load likely to move maybe it would be better to use chains instead and a 4 ft scaffold pipe for leverage.
Too much coffee and not enough porridge and shredded wheat in your bellies of a morning…
I think when you need extra help to tighten a ratchet strap its time for a change of career, unless of course you are a woman then it is acceptable.

These are the so called "Schwerlast Ratschen " (Heavy Duty Ratchets) that the German plod are keen to see these days as opposed to the smaller ratchets that are harder to tension to the same degree, due to having to push up to tension.
