The 420 is not a road that you can run on the limiter on, its very bendy and tight, so dont talk crap.
Id love for someone like you to try and “drag me out the cab” it would truly make my day.

There are signs as you come down the 34 saying for swindon use the 34 then M4, something which i always do, only takes an extra 10 minutes and its alot less hassle. That depends on which part of Swindon you want to be in, for me its about 1 mile from the A420/A419junction so it makes sense to go the 420.
It takes an extra ten minutes, and thats coming off just before the 420/419 junction.
Its a better ride, and no hassle, the 420 is riddles with cameras and your on and off the gas and brakes at every bend, is of course my opinion, but after running from swindon to rugby many times, i find it alot less hassle !!

The A420 is not bendy and tight at all. With the exception of the roundabouts it’s on the limiter all the way, just like every other wagon does that knows where the speed cameras are.
I wouldn’t need to drag you out of the cab because you’d already be in the ditch if you pulled the same trick.
Like i said, if you had tried to put me in the ditch, i would rip your head off, its as simple as that.
Having driven up and down the 420 time and time again, i can assure you, that unless you are empty, it is not limiter all the way.
Gurner:
if you had tried to put me in the ditch, i would rip your head off
How are you going to get out of the ditch first though
However, i also said, that i would move over if i was holding a wagon up.
ok, theres a few questions and points to be made about your statements rob.
Firstly, i gave you the instance of slowing down and sticky my ■■■■ in the middle of the road to see your reaction and just as i thought you’d do something stupid like stick me in the ditch… hmmmmmm fellow professional driver.
If in the real world i had another incident like last night, i would not react any differently, i was well within the limits of the road and i was maintaining a constant speed for the carriageway. Had he chose to pass me, i would have assessed the situation and decided myself what action to take, under no circumstances however would it have been to speed up; Point number 1 - don’t judge others by your standards. I’d be the first to slow down if i though his manuovre would endanger mine or anyone elses lives. I have a little boy at the end of the day and he is my life.
I’ll bet you any money you like that when Tiggz got to the dual-carriageway bits she floored it to the limiter rather than sticking to 50mph and this is most likely what the Mail was hacked off about.
Rob i’m sorry to say, but i chose to stick to the speed limits at all times, i don’t chose when i do and do not break them. Yet again this must be something you do frequently
There are two sides to every story and I believe Tiggz is only telling the bits that make her look like the angel. I would like to hear the Mail drivers side too.
I tell it like it is rob, whether you chose to believe it is a correct interpretation of events is totally down to you mate. Can’t see the point in telling lies!
Messing about like that on the roads at that time of night is asking for trouble. She’s lucky the Mail driver didn’t bring her to a halt and drag her out of the cab.
Rob, question for you, why would a female come into the transport industry and do what i do, ie night driving if she possible thought that she could not handle the rough with the smooth. In my two years of driving i have never had anything bad said by another driver, last night was the first incident. If he wanted to stop me and drag me out of my cab then good luck to the bloke. I’m not invincable but i know how to take care of myself.
This could go on for as long as we want it to and at the end of the day i know that how i drive on the roads is professional at all times, it’s not something you can mess about with, you have to respect it. I respect the size and weight and i do not impose it on other people. Yeah ok, you may all think i’m a doo gooder. I’ve wanted this job for 25 years now i’ve got it i’m going to make sure i keep it. You can all tell me i’m wrong until the cows come home, but what would be the point. HHHHHmmmmmmmmm hows the saying go. deaf ears and falling on.
Oh and for those that were talking about me in the chat room tonight, please share the topic of conversation next time.

Yes, you’re sticking to the limit obeying the law but are you being professional? Not IMO you’re not… you’re just being a (zb)
So does obeying the speedlimits makes you a pregnant goldfish? and unprofessional?.
This site seems to go from bad to even worse i just wonder what anyone not truck related might think when they read it, looking at posts of SOME members condoning speeding in something that can weigh 44 tonnes+.
From reading SOME of the posts on here it wouldnt surprise me if they lower the speed limits to 10 MPH for trucks just so those above the law can get past.
Would you step out the way of a murderer in order for him to kill someone so he can get past you to commit his crime? NO
If you are doing 40 on a 40 limit ■■■■ the tossers behind you let them wait like everyone else.
I really find it hard to believe some of the excretia that people post on this site about knowingly speeding and driving poorly, it makes me even more determined to phone the Police and report bad driving from those who consider themselves professionalk at it.
No need for a tin hat bring it on…
Professional my ■■■■■■■ rectal cavity.
I asked on a similar post of someone could give me ONE good reason to condonespeeding in a truck and noone answered it can any of you idiots that do speed give me an answer now?.

One reason to condone speeding
- Highly reduces the anger felt by other road users if you travel with the flow as best you can which in turn very much reduces extremely dangerous overtaking manoeuvres when you stick to 40mph, thus without doubt preventing many serious crashes and quite probably saving lives too.
Easy-peasy.

So, whats the point in trying to [zb] another drivers day up just because YOU want to drive fast, if you cant see how hypocritical you sound?? its amazing! Others should do this, others should do that…No Mal, it works both ways. Why should we be forced to do whatever speed the wagon in front wants to do. Like you say, it’s a free country so be fair and let us pass. The atittude is unmistakably, “this is the speed WE are going to do. I don’t care if you know where the speed cameras are and where the pigs hide, you’re NOT getting past me”. Don’t say that isn’t the attitude because it wasn’t so long ago that Allikat even admitted to deliberately driving slowly just to hack off other drivers
. Now here’s another one saying she would also deliberately slow down even more and block the road so you couldn’t pass at all just because you’ve given your intentions to want to get past
. Unless Tiggz deliberately stopped the Mail wagon from passing (very likely judging by her later post) then there was no need for the Mail wagon to flash and toot and I doubt that the driver would have done so unless Tiggz had done someone stupid like eased off to 20mph or blocked the road.

When you decide to be a trucker for a living you have to take the rough with the smooth. Wagon drivers in this country choose to drive on the limiter on roads that can safely take it (for example the A420). This is the norm in this country; if the GATSO sees you before you see it then you pay the price and get on with it but if you choose to go against the flow and stick to the ridiculous speed limits then you have to be prepared for other drivers to give you zebidee about it. The best thing you can do is get out of their way and let them get on with it
. It’s that simple
If you choose to ignore that advice and carry on as you are doing then expect a very stressful time on the roads and watch your opinion of every other driver on the roads rapidly change to “they’re ALL zebidee’s”.
Yepp, it does work both ways Rob, but think on, there aint a good excuse for trying to bully a driver because theyre sticking to the speed limit. I dont know what Tiggz done, I wernt there, Ive got enough of me own experiences of it to know what goes down, its plain me first, on both sides, so, ones got the law on their side, the other aint, whos right? And another thing, when I came on the road, it was to drive the motor as a job, not pander to what other blokes want to do with their day, and Ive been at it long enough to already think a long time past that 50% on the road are ■■■■■■■ anyway! Just a thought, what would you think if another driver put one of your relatives in a ditch because they decided like judge and jury they were “■■■■■■■ them about”? Its bollox all the way. The jobs bad enough as it is without other drivers on your case, the next one meets me cab bar up close, thats all ive got to say, and they’ll have bought it on thereselves.
Having done the 420 a few time a few years ago, I can’t rememer what the road is like!! but I do know if its a single track then no way is it a limiter road!
Only drivers with a death wish or a prison wish would be a limiter drivers on a single track road!!!
I have lost a family member because of speeding! it aint big or clever it kills and distroys! I know because I have picked up the pieces, because of people who want to get where their are going quicker than in possible in this day and age!!!
I for one am ■■■■■■ off with the saying that only inapropiate speed kills!!! All speed kills! and if you are going faster then the speed limit and kill/hurt you are now likely to be in prison! Quite right to in fact you should be charged with manslaughter, because you know the risks, and still argue that you can/should continue to drive your loaded gun in a maner that suits you and not the people you can kill!
slow down! that has never killed anyone!! and to boot I think you will be a better driver for doing so!
EndRant!!!

Couldnt agree more, the only valid reason we should be called proffessional is because we get paid to swing the wheel, anything else is a sick fantasy, proffessional? ive ■■■■ it, and i’ll see another hundreds of drivers over the next week that’ll prove every word.

So if they raise the speed limits on single carriageways to 50 you will still try to get past the guy in front when you are doing 56, so no point raising the limit then?.
I personally have NEVER seen anyone have an accident while overtaking me i have seen some close shaves but never seen it actually happen.
Rob K:

BECAUSE IT’S THE LAW! However wonderful you think you are, it doesn’t put you above the law. Just cos you think they law is unjust, it’s no excuse to ignore it. I can understand you getting irate at someone driving below the limit but you really can’t complain at someone driving at the speed limit IMO.

No Alex, because the 6mph difference is negligible. However, if I was the lead wagon doing 50mph in a 50mph single carriageway limit like you suggest and the wagon behind was clearly itching to get past then I would still pull over if it was possible and let them past.
I personally have NEVER seen anyone have an accident while overtaking me i have seen some close shaves but never seen it actually happen.
Need I say anymore …
I have never heard as much balls as this from a so called number 1 driver! If ever you need to take a stress test to hold an HGV, that will clear the roads of stupid drivers like this one. If a truck is driving down a twisty road with a high load in the trailer, why should he or she be forced to drive faster than is comfortable, on the other hand if i am driving at a suitable speed, why should I have to slow down for some ■■■■■■ to speed past so he can get his head down?
If you want to drive at 56mph go down the A34 and across the M4. If you want to drive at 70 plus get a white van
I used this particular road in question carrying Aston Martin from Bloxham and Honda from Swindon. Its a slow twisty road in many places.
I got done in Scotland in 1978 for doing 45 in a 40 and ended up with a fine and an invitation to Harehills House if it happened again… I keep my licence clean because I enjoy truck driving as a job, not some mercenary way to earn the best money.
I gave up a 35k year job to return to trucks and transport

No, certainly not Jammy. But when that obeying of the limit is done over a ONE HOUR STRETCH with no sign of pulling over and SPEEDING in a 50 zone on the limiter in between in what can only be, from my point of view, selfish driving with no regards for others (You would only do that to make sure as few people as possible could get past?), I do call it inconsiderate and yes, unprofessional.
If you were stuck in a long line of traffic behind a tractor doing a tenner for that amount of time it would be a reasonable assumption for you to think that the tractor driver might pull over at some point. In the same fashion I think it’s our obligation to pull over to allow other vehicles through whenever you can see a major build up behind you; that’s what I do anyway.
