Ramage Transport

Any Ramage Transport drivers on here?

I have a interview on saturday, whats your thoughts on the place?

Anyone have any tips for getting the job?

Got the job, case closed

Well done on getting the job is it Cat C or C+E

Take it you will be driving a DAF then  which yard you working out of

How did you find the interview

Sorry didnt replie as I have never worked for him but he does have a box at St James’s & does invite people there yes drivers as well

C + E mate, really chuffed.

Yeah I will be sharing a XF 105 with another fella, 4 on 4 off, couple of nights/days out as its night shift, running toilet roll out of SCA Prudhoe down to Asda at Dartford, then getting a back load. Any ideas on journey time down to Dartford starting at the Silverlink then over to prudhoe for the trailer the first night at either 5/6/7 pm?

Interview was straight forward to be honest, not even an assessment, I will be going out for a couple hours with there driving assessor on my induction, just to be shown around the unit and made familiar with it.

A trip to the footy would be a canny bonus

Personally I would go from Silverlink towards Annitsford and then to Wide Open, and then down the A1 past Gosforth Park at that time. Come off for the Scotswood bridge, and then through Blaydon. Avoid the town in rush hour. I reckon 30/45 minutes to Prudhoe.

Multimap says around 295 miles to Dartford taking around 5 hours, (At 60mph?) but at 56 mph, then you could probably add another 1/2 an hour, and that’s not factoring in traffic or a break.

Ken.

and then another 3 hours tipping at asda unless its changed a lot since i was last there, just ,look over the edge of the bridge as you start to come down and you can see how many trucks are in there tipping

Yeah that was my thinking aswel, if its a 7 pm start I will go down the coast road.

So the whole trip should take 6.5/7 hours with a 45 in there, depending on traffic, etc. Is there a list anywhere of services on the route I will take A1, M11, M25?

So they arnt really that bothered about booking in times then? Well aslong as I can get a signal on my digital tv I will be quite happy getting paid to sit and wait.

Stibbington diner near Wittering on the A1 is open 24 hours if you want some food.

At the time you go down, you’ll be very pushed to find somewhere else.

Remember also that drivers will be asleep probably at that time, so do yourself a favour, and park on the road alongside the diner out of courtesy. (You probably won’t get in anyhow.)

I wouldn’t bother, as you’ll still have to thread your way across town.

Ken.

Thanks for the tip, I would imagine there will be plenty laybys on the way, I will have all my supplies.

Its not going to be that challenging, I will try both ways and see which works out the best at 7pm, it will only be the unit the first night leaving the silverlink depot.

You will find most of the laybys FULL on the A1 :unamused:

I will probably get as far as leicestershire before I need a 45, I hope I can find somewhere to pull in for a break.

IIRC Peterbough is approx. 4.5 hr form Prudhoe

So to dartford im looking at 6.5/7 hours?

Would say so sound right to me

Im just trying to work out my hours, am I right in thinking you can only work a 15 if you have a 3 hour break in that time?

That would depend if you have a collective workforce agreement for employees to opt out of the working time directive for night workers.
