That would depend if you have a collective workforce agreement for employees to opt out of the working time directive for night workers.
So it isnt the law not having a 3 hour break to do a 15 through the night? But only if we have an agreement? I think they will want me to have 9 hours daily rest when I do my nights/days out, but I can only do that 3 times in a fortnight, I will be doing more than that in a fortnight. Am I right in thinking if you arnt having a 9 then you must have atleast 11 hours? Need to make sure my hours work out ok.
Regarding your first point about a 3 hour break on a 15 at night I’ve never heard of that, the only time when a 3 hour break is advantageous is it gives you ‘split daily rest’. Also remember that you can only do 9/10 hours driving in a 24 hour period.

So if I start driving at 6pm monday, I do 9/10 hours driving then I take a break, no more driving until 6pm tuesday.
Prudhoe to blyth(A1 services) 2.45 hours on nights, used to run out of there for Elddis. You should make it to Alconbury before needing your 45 min.Should take you about another hour and a half from there. Good luck with the new job.
You can reduce your daily rest to 9 hrs, 3 times per week and not have to pay it back. If you have a single, uninterupted break of 3 hrs in the shift then you can reduce your daily rest to 9hrs and this doesn’t count as one of your 3 per week.
Quinny:
Stibbington diner near Wittering on the A1 is open 24 hours if you want some food.
At the time you go down, you’ll be very pushed to find somewhere else.
Remember also that drivers will be asleep probably at that time, so do yourself a favour, and park on the road alongside the diner out of courtesy. (You probably won’t get in anyhow.)
of it you go further up the road there is a Picnic site which is also used by LGV drivers to park up but bear in mind, you may get a knock on the door with a wink lol.
That picnic site is just a mile up the road from the diner. Go northbound on the A1 and turn off for the A47 Wansford. As you approach the round about turn left and go straight over to the next round about and do the same. You will then have to turn right at the next junction and bingo your there.
It’s a safe place to park up as there is way to many people knocking about for the gits to attempt to do anything to you truck or load.
chaversdad:
and then another 3 hours tipping at asda unless its changed a lot since i was last there, just ,look over the edge of the bridge as you start to come down and you can see how many trucks are in there tipping
Alcapone! From what i’ve seen at Asda Dartford the Ramage bogrolls have priorty tip on the far end bay along with Elddis I don’t think you’ll be in there for 3 hours unless you want to be
I dont know where my back load will be from so not sure on how far back up the A1 I will get, once im more familiar with the run I should beable to pick some decent stop off’s, I will be sleeping through the day.
I dont really want to hang around to long to be honest, I hope there is decent enough space to back onto the bay’s, only experience I have of hub’s is the pallex hub near coalville, the bays on the one side have very little room to get the wagon turned in but on the other side there is loads of room, really crap design.
