I’ve often wondered what age one has to be to switch from radio 1 to radio 2. For me it was late 30’s.
Sure I heard Ken Bruce on about this the other day and some study says its 33. I’d had enough of that drivel on Radio 1 when I was about 25! Cannot even bare a few seconds of it these days. Still get shudders at the thought of Chris Moyles. Oh, and am I the only one who likes the Jeremy Vine show? Must be.
I started listening to Radio 2 at 29. I’d just moved to N. Wales and the choices were R2, R1 or Radio Cymru. I can’t stand Moyles and my Welsh isn’t very good.

Depended on the time of day and show - Moyles wore out for me by my late 20’s; so I’d listen to Wogan
But in the afternoon, I was definitely a Scott Mills fan - But pretty much jumped ship totally by my early 30’s.
I flick to radio one every now and again but it’s like listening to white noise…don’t get me wrong, very much into new music and current trends (other than Justin bloody Beeber) but Radio 1 is more about talking ■■■■■ loudly and rapidly. I get enough of that from my kids.
dani1972:
So “Stop talking over the end of songs you egotistical [zb]” wouldn’t work then.
No, you need to say “Hi Steve, love the show, please stop talking you egotistical [zb]”, the ‘over the end of songs’ bit could be left out, and you may even get a round of applause for it.

Aah you mean just say “stop talking” I think the round of applause would be from the other listeners.
Many years ago, Steve Wright had Mr Angry do a phone in, it had me in tears of laughter, whover it was, he was a comic genius and throw the phone down in pure rage .
Recently ask Elvis is very funny, guitar playing and singing, he is funny.
Sara Cox is fantastic, her Dad is a lorry driver.
Janice Long is brilliant, good tunes from the 80,s such as Strawberry Switchblades with Since Yesterday and my fave Morrisey or The Smiths .

Feltz…0
Vine 5,points deducted for constant references by him about his bloody age ffs.
Wright-7.Not really his fault that the modern culture he swims in is utterley putrid.I cant see anyone capable of replacing him.bloody Mark Goodier??..I think not.
Evans…0
Mayo…7,Good grasp of top draw music, highly evolved.shame about that sports (yawn) cretin.
Bruce…9.5…full 10 but for the tedious popmaster.
Oleery,Ball,Goodier,Long…burn em at the stake,Lisa Tarbuck is a delight as is Paul Ogrady they have charisma in spades.
It used to be that I’d listen to radio 2 when I was out of range of absolute or planet rock or when the adverts on commercial radio had ■■■■■■ me off enough. Now though there seems to be as many ‘adverts’ on the beeb as there are on commercial channels, just all for their own shows.
I don’t care though now I’ve got a decent unit with Bluetooth so I choose my own tunes
I complained to R2 as the Bbc can’t advertise but all their guests come on flogging a cooking book, world concert tour or the tour dates for a comedian.
Their reply was guests would not come on if they could not plug .
Steve Wright singing ,talking and whistling over tunes, they said it engages listeners attention and it is his own style, like or lump it basically .
Any radio presenter that bangs on about their kids is the off button for me, who cares.
Feltz is renowned for this and so are other female presenters .
Worst thing they done was get rid of Alex lester at 4am
I listen to radio 1 before 6:30, then Evans an Bruce, usually a cd till 2 then Steve Wright although him cutting tunes before they end does my nut in, the traffic reports keep me on radio mainly
The big thing with vine is when he clearly knows nothing about the subject hes talking about but trys and fails to sound like a expert or a equal to the person hes talking to !
Oh and at the end of every show " remember pointless at 6pm the BEST quiz shop on tv" ■■■■ off ya ■■■■
Vannesa Felts =6
Chris Evans= 8(was a 10 till he started mentioning TGIF/TOP GEAR and so many days off)
Ken Bruce 10+esp pop m ,and lyn putting him in his place ,
Jerramy Vine 6,(as covered and so many times off)
Steve Wright 7 , lots of time off in USA usually,
Simon Mayo 10 , class act
would give zoe ball vines slot and sara cox steve wrights in a minute.

Never really got it how and why people can be actually arsed to take the time to put pen to paper, or phone up a tv or radio station to complain, …lifes to bloody short to get concerned over trivial cack.
If you don’t like it don’t ■■■■ listen or watch ffs.
I reckon you must have far too much time on your hands tobes, next you will be starting a thread on here about ‘banning flashing in’…oh wait a minute!
I’m 25 and been listen to radio 2 for nearly 2 years, lately Chris Evans has been annoying with all the top gear and last with the constant talk about his “carfest” saying how great value it is at £65 a ticket per person! Then all the food and drinks on top and fuel to get there and back, looking at £200 for me and the wife let alone the kids.
Ken Bruce on the other hand needs to be on for longer can’t get enough of him.
Simon Mayo as well especially more of the “Dr mosh”
trapfour:
Does Jeremy Vine do anybody elses head in or am i getting old.His moaning voice and inane tone makes me drive in silence.Never in my life have i heard anybody so condescending…
out of ten i would rate the radio 2 daytime people like this.
Vannessa,8
evans…6
Bruce…10
vine…0
wright…1
mayo…4
Sara cox…10 when shes a sub
zoe ball…9…when shes a sub
surprised at you giving vannessa 8 and sara cox 10 they both do my head in,gab, gab, gab, thats all both do, talk too much, but your right about that kxxb vine but I like it when the debates get going, particularly when George Galloway comes on and he gets all gobby,my favourites are ken bruce [bit dull but ok] lady penny [penny smith when a sub,10 out of 10]■■■■ voice, and zoe ball,10 out of 10 ,very down to earth and great, most annoying steve wright particularly when he cuts in on songs you like and starts taking the mick, one thing that really bugs me is pause for thought,i have my own beliefs I don’t want some god squad coming on and going blah blah jesus this blah blah jesus that, not on

Steve Wright singing over songs or whistling, tunes cut short and that clapping
Feltz is thinks of lot of herself with her fancy long words.
JV switches sides, agrees with one caller then disagrees with another then swaps again, his subject matter is boring.
The gardner from Wales with sound effects of him something boring .
Bring back Alex Lester for the night workers.
Radio Berkshire is better with ex dj,s from the the past .
I wait for the hands up to come on and shout over what hes saying HANDS UP IF YOU THINK STEVE WRIGHTS A WXXXXR,and they all clap [silly I know, but gives me a laugh]
