Radio 2 music

Its all gone homogenous and safe, common purpose ethos stamped through it like a stick of blackpool rock.I feared, knew it would go this way, when they brought the ginger prat to breakfast time which sets the dynamic for the entire network. It had to happen as the left brain oxbridge radical-robots could never coutenance a network that,Wogan era fans considered a safe haven for lets say a more discerning clientele.Oh no!; the Blair era automotons,Cohen chappie i think was the then ‘director’ have almost destroyed the identity and feel good factor the station exemplified for so long, and here we are enduring the necrotic barrel scrapings of mostly musical effluence alongside weapons- grade, egomaniac dj’s Apart from Mayo and Bruce i reckon its a busted flush unless the talent scouts nets are thrown further afield,Stu Maconie would be my choice with a serious financial package to lure him from the rather patchy wastelands at six music,he’s everything a jock needs to be and then some.

Bit worried about Bruce though,l distinctly heard him recently refer to a one Rick Astley as the…‘GREAT,’…Rick Astley. Bloody hell.

I’d second that. Maconie is definitely a prime time talent.

Mark Goodier makes me laugh. I’ll do this show for a fortnight or whatever it is, but I’ll put my own spin on it. And ruin it. Ten word confession? Six decades of excrement? He even managed to make Tony Blackburn look professional after he filled in post dismissal.

Craig Charles was on this morning standing in for Janice Long, what a difference decent music witty banter, probably to risky to be given a full time slot but a world of difference.

Just my opinion of R2 presenters…

Vanessa Feltz - some good, most bad!
Chris Evans - too shouty, always on about his bloody kids!!
Ken Bruce - the best of the day, good banter, one or two interesting tracks.
Jeremy Vine - two hours listening to everything else! Too much rant baiting…
Steve Wright - London is the best place in the world, nowhere else exists lots, of (un) subtle book/film/song/tour plugging…
Simon Mayo - Magnolia paint for the ears!
By far the best is Alex Lester, technically a Black Country Lad (Dad worked as a G.P. in Walsall, he worked at Dudley Zoo!)

Martin Kemp the guitarist from Spandau Ballet is doing a stand in spot for Radio Two, I think it is on Graham Nortons Saturday morning show .
I bet he will be good .

I cannot stand Kermit O’Dreary.
Or Brian “dig me up once a week” Matthew.

Welcome avids. This pile of crap I’m about to play was the b-side to their most unsuccessful release on the fell on it arse the day after “flaps” label

You don’t sound interested, so I’m ■■■■ well sure I’m not!

And after this bit of Radio 2 promotion, I’ll ask someone to poke me in the ribs to wake me up.

And don’t get me started on Desmond Carrington.

“Tonight’s show is all about trees, or possibly things that might live in trees, or if I’m getting desperate, songs sung by folk that might have seen trees, but then again may not have”

Let’s kick off with “Waterloo by Abba” as there used to be a tree by Waterloo station

I have noticed Vanny Feltz talking much faster, how does she breathe, she sounds like a chipmunk on speed .
Chris Evans too shouty and promotes his Car Fests and say what car he drove to work
In .
Ok Chris, we know about the vintage Ferrari collection .
At least Lincoln farm truckstop got a mention on the Feltz show for that birthday thing she does .

Evans will vanish up his own arse before long

I would loved to be a fly on the wall then he had his ex in the other week and one of the other guests did know they’ed been married
my radio don’t go on till 9 30 now if I’m out of range of my local comercail station or in oxfordshire then it’s 106.8 Jack fm

I’m longing for the day i can get a decent dab signal in sw Scotland. 6 music would be my station of choice.

Last week i listened to the entire half man half biscuit back catalogue on shuffle. Grand stuff.

Most of the regular folk seem to be on hols at the moment, and to be honest, with the exception of Feltz, who is standing in for the guy that looks and sounds like a bewildered supply teacher, they’re all bloody better.

Penny Smith or Nicki Chapman are way better than Feltz

Evans, give me Sara Cox anyday

Ken Bruce, like the bloke, but prefer Zoe ball.

Paddy O’Connell always does the Vine show better

Steve Wright, they should make him bring back Mr Angry, Mr Mad, Dr Fish Filleter and Mr Spoons, or sack him.

Mayo, probably the best show of the day. I even listen to the cookery and book club bits.

And don’t get me started again about weekends.

Thank the Lord I can play my ITunes library straight through this new stereo.

You missed out Anna Matronic standing in for Jo Whiley great music which she plays with minmal talking in between songs, and then back to reality on Tuesday evening Whiley returned and it was back to me, me, me play a record then a bit more about me followed by some more about her family so it’s the I pod until her next break

Is it only me that likes Wrighty’s Serious Jockin?. It’s a bit silly but good for a sing and a jig about on a Friday afternoon when I’m (hopefully) on my way back to the yard. It’s a good job I haven’t got one of them driver-facing cameras  . And what happens at 7 after Simon Mayo?,it goes all Mary Hopkin :unamused:

Turned radio on at about 10 15 yesterday listened to about 5 mins of martin kemp and his co host then turned back off ,what a load of ■■■
Turned back on at 1pm for pick of the pops 1973 /1989 ( 3 of the top 5 songs were Saw hits )

Don’t mind the music in serious jocking it’s the bits in between when he starts to talk that stops me listening.

Most of it’s ■■■ but the afternoon’s aren’t bad in the week. When I’m working Saturday it doesn’t get a look in. Due to the lack of DAB it’s LBC in the morning then Absolute or Radio 2 in the afternoon

Steve Wright would be put down if he was a dog
