Radio 2 music

Beau Nydel:
DAB tuner from Halfords plus aeriel £60ish plays thru existing system. Planet Rock all day!

■■■■ right! Only station worth listening to, however I do need DAB in my wagon now.

Another vote for Atlantic 252 from me. I tend not to listen to commercial radio tbh unless Feltz is on Radio 2 as I can’t be done with the adverts (never watched an advert on tv since Sky plus came in), but if I’m around Oxford I will break my rule and listen to Jack FM, cracking music and no inane DJ’s waffling on.

I wondered when Jack FM was going to get a mention, I was starting to feel like an oddball! :open_mouth:

Is jack FM automated all the time? Don’t think I’ve heard a presenter on there? Anyone remember Life (think it started as Capital Life). None stop music apart from news and a sponsor on the hour and half hour…no presenters. Just had to stomach the out of date showbiz news for a few seconds once or twice a day!

Silk 1069 isn’t bad music variety and doesn’t have that awful chart show on Sundays. They have the usual stuff on half of the playlist like most local stations. The other half is good mix though!

No, you are definitely an odd ball my friend!

Firstly DJ’s interrupting the start or ending of records seems to be a form of deliberate sabotage which goes back to the days when we started recording records directly from the radio. With digital recording methods having now improved even more in that regard.IE it’s seen as a way of defending copyright. :bulb:

Then there’s the unarguable superiority of FM stereo broadcasting over the inconsistent coverage and broadcasting quality of DAB zb.The problem then being that some of the best radio wasn’t/isn’t available on FM only AM or more increasingly now DAB.Which leaves the new opportunities available with internet radio but which is then lumbered with the new problems of data charges when used mobile.

Which just realistically leaves the option of home recording of internet content then use the recordings when on the move.Which doesn’t seem so easy in the case of linking a computer’s output to mobile media like CD.At least unless newer types of home Hi fi stystems have been provided with HDMI input provision ?.

Carryfast has spoken so that’s another thread ended.

Jack FM Oxford is simply the best of a bad bunch that includes Heart (pretend we’re local) Thames Valley, BBC Radio Oxford (drivel for old people) and Jack2 which sounds like it’s run by sixth formers.
Jack FM do play the same music day in day out but on a no repeat basis. Annoying thing is you can predict what song’s coming next. They do have annoying DJs if you listen 6-9am. Google Caroline Jack FM, chunky lass but HUGE knockers.

Boring, Jo Whiley and Sara Cox who have to update the nation on what their children ate, wore, got for their birthday and so on and so on, do not get me going on Vanessa Feltz who speaks so fast and uses long posh words that must alienate some of her target audience .
Steve Wright used to be good years ago with the comic Mr Angry ringing in a very bad mood, in fact , he was so angry, he would throw the phone down .
Ask Elvis is quite funny .

I’ve given up with the radio completely, for music I use the tune in app or my ipod which has 32gb of tunes on it. Mostly I listen to audio books now, either through audible or Google play.

If I listen to the radio it’s mainly 6 music and radio 4 for the archers and the afternoon play.
BBC London have a good show between 10 am and 1 pm by Robert elms.
Great music and intresting stuff about London and what’s on.
Other than that I use spotify or podcasts

The trouble is if Wrighty goes we will end up with this stalking horse bland entity called Goodier.funny how he always seems available like a maggot filled bluebottle seeking out decaying carrion to lay its eggs on and in the process ushering in a whole new era of do it by numbers banality if this cretin inevitably gets the gig.
Wright is a fine, intelligent jock his show just needs a shake up as do most of the others, bit of a curates egg,cut out the necrotic Feltz,Evans, leery Whiley and the station could be revived.Any network that features Desmond Carrington and Hughie Morgan cant be too bad,

Mark Goodier must float about 24/7 in case someone goes off sick. Same as Richard Allinson used to.

Indeed so,he seems to think he’s some kind of gilded shoe in on the basis he was once a part of the smashy and nicey, circa 80’s stable on radio one and was garbage then as today.Sarah Kennedy came in for frequent maulings on the rad 2 early show years ago,yes she was a tad flakey at times, probably needed a decent sabbatical, but look what replaced her?..supercillious,prozaced,tnuk hate figure Feltz.Allinson i found too oily,a man of no fixed personality but light years ahead of overly mothered blandfest,Goodier.Dermot Oleery is just pure ego and yet gets 3 ■■■■ hours of prime saturday time,he seems to visualise himself as some kind of svengali, ‘breaking’ a tedious carousel of bearded bedwetter 'musicians’desparate to be recognised for their oh so sensitive weedy navel gazeings, with ludicrous middle class handles like,Benjamin nectarine or that tedious t…d Jamie ‘i wasn’t expecting that’ ilk. Then it’s all passed up to ageing groupie,Jo Whiley to be hosed down with more treacle, but comes across like she’s vamping energy because it’s…HEY!1 new.I thought the Stock, aitkin, waterman era was as low as it got,boy i was wrong.Modern pop is satanically bad I need to lie down.

Hate Jo Whiley. Nasal voiced middle aged woman who acts like a student. Your typical “trendy mum”.

I don’t know anyone who likes the boring cow! :imp:
Her finest moment was in 2008 covering the Reading festival with Biffy Clyro doing a live version of RATM’s (Rage Against the Machine’s) song Killing in the Name for Radio 1. The band agreed not to sing the swearing bit, but the crowd didn’t! :grimacing:
In fact I think that was the best thing Radio 1 have ever broadcast!!!

Jo Whiley can be tedious and annoying, weeks before Glastonbury has started, she will bang on and on about it , like a crescendo, as the festival approaches, she will mention it every 30 seconds .
Then the name dropping of who she met wearing wellies , guess who i bumped in to by the Dingly Dell Batley bottom save the world Humpa Lumpa cloud tent ?

I worked 6am for six hours yesterday and EVERYTHING on the radio was dire. It comes to something when the only thing that didn’t offend my brain was radio 4. So I’ve decided to do one of two things. Either A,work out how you plug ya fone into a 4-series Scania,or B,buy a DAB job.i won’t be faffing with CD’s. My day will be much more pleasant with some classic rock going all day.Absolute has it’s moments but on a Saturday morning I can’t stand that Skinner bloke. And yeah, bring back Mr Angry. Mind you the older I get I think he might be me

Too right, that Mr Angry had me in tears of laughter, so angry , he would throw the phone down .
