there a 4x 10 hours works graph

businesslink.gov.uk/Transpor … hicles.pdf

the above link is the most up to date copy from Vosa

Yeah, that is indeed over a six day period - but it spans two weeks.

in the regs its say week see below

However, the daily driving time may be extended to at most
10 hours not more than twice during the week.

(i) ‘a week’ means the period of time between 00.00 on
Monday and 24.00 on Sunday;

and that’s why you can do 4 x10 hour over the two weeks

The week referred to in the quote is the fixed week
The ‘working week’ can often span two fixed weeks so therefore possible to do 4 X 10s in a working week by using 2 X 10s in each of the fixed weeks

Is that what you were getting at ?

6 What’s the minimum amount of daily rest you can have in a week working Monday to Friday

I still say 38 from the terminology used in the question and the way in which the question is worded but do acknowledge that the other 11 for friday is complied with for daily rest under the regs - just that that period is called weekly rest.

I also acknowledge that it is compliant for both daily & weekly if that is the last working shift of the week which the question implies it is IMO

Probably best to leave it there or we go over the same ground again…

Sorry ROG but in my opinion you’re wrong to say 38, you should have stuck with your original answer of 49 hours :wink:

The question was “What’s the minimum amount of daily rest you can have in a week working Monday to Friday” which seems to be quite clear and precise, the answer is clearly 49 hours, two 11 hour daily rest periods and three 9 hour daily rest periods.

This daily rest period will be a part of the weekly rest period but remains a daily rest period in it’s own right, terminology doesn’t really come into it, the question was clear enough to be able to be answered from the articles and definitions given in the regulations and was clearly intended to be answered in that way :wink:
