Sad thing is that folk like Franglais are desperate to see Brexit trigger a recession in the hope of vindication of his views.
He will of course be along to deny this, whilst desperately clutching at every negative connotation that his febrile imagination can conjure.
Even his posts above show that any queues are the result of several factors, but he’ll still argue that it’s all Brexit.
Every time a new step in the Brexit road is enacted we are promised the Apocalypse but end up with a week or two of confusion as new systems bed in and are streamlined. He even sees the job creation as a negative (probably because the jobs are going to British citizens - or the many EU citizens that chose to stay and naturalise)

Its pretty hilarious isn’t it. People who cross the channel and use Dover/Calais day to day in their job are saying no issues and everything is normal and yet the usual suspects are popping up with their “facts and links” and pushing their usual agenda’s - you couldn’t make it up!

Gotta be true.
The Gov are instructing the police and Dover to make extra queues so things look bad.
Faultless logic.

So, we have a clear run once in the port. Good.
If the miles of traffic queueing on Dover approach were all released they would fill the port, spill onto the road, and jam up Dover town.
Is that so hard to see?
Whether the queue is an unregulated one in the town, or a civilised one outside is irrelevant. It is still a queue.

Once again, we have you gnashing your teeth about an apocalypse, but Ill bet that again you won

That silence to requests for detail, will probably be followed by arm waving about other non specific allegations, and demands for detail from other posters, detail which is absent from your posts.

“Job Creation”
Am I against the expenses of extra documents, checks, civil servants, and other employees to push around pieces of paper?
Am I against the need for extra Customs truck parks and other infrastructure? Am I against the time trucks lose in this previously unnecessary nonsense?
Well, yes, I am against all of that.
If you consider these extra layers of administration are a good thing, then maybe we could get more of the same?
Introduce borders between England with Wales and Scotland? Thatll create even more jobs for British citizens. But let
s be imaginative! Why stop there? Borders between counties will give us even more new jobs. Genius.
(Somehow I suspect that WS would want that for Kernow )

From my experience 2 or 3 hours were normal-ish in summer.
In January less, normally straight through, unless bad weather.
(and I don`t recall saying “vast experience”, but am not exactly a stranger there)

For the last 7 or 8 years queues have been pretty much the norm all year round after about 2 in the afternoon until around 10 in the evening except for weekends and nothing apart from knocking down the old car park and putting some lanes in there has been done to either increase capacity or efficiency, the removal of the banana dock has given some room. If it is all down to Brexit why no problems at Eurotunnel? Because they kept ahead of the game and made improvements to the way they operate something Dover didn’t do. P&O isn’t named P & Slow without good reason, the ports busy so lets only open 50% of our check in booths, car traffic is minimal so lets still keep a third of our check in booths dedicated to cars only, all of this was happening pre covid so no excuse on the staffing levels. There were plenty of problems at Dover pre Brexit which regular users were only to aware of.

Seems to me that there is an issue at Dover, and that issue is not the norm for January.
I do NOT say it is ALL due to Brexit.
I DO say that Brexit can only make things worse.
Apart from the extra documents, and all the behind the scenes admin and expense involved, there are now extra checks so delays will be increased.
The degree of Brexit responsibility for the current delays (I reckon they are more than is normal for January?) can be argued.
But just as I do not say it is all Brexit…I do not accept that none of it is Brexit.
Simply put: Brexit is causing extra delays.
Be it a massive or tiny effect, Brexit is causing delays.
(And that is of course apart from all the less visible delays to any load away from a port.)
Mazzer2:

I don’t know where this screenshot is from or when it was taken, but Google maps shows a few red patches on the approach to Dover and that’s it, nothing at the tunnel.

It is from Sixfold’s LIVE server which actually tracks the vehicles themselves, it is used by the industry to accurately calculate transit times across borders/ferries etc. Available here:
wakou:
Do you think that this is due to Brexit? Do you believe that the driver having to show one extra piece of paper since January has caused this huge increase in travel time?
OR could it be that the Stena Hollandice is off, one of the largest ferries in Europe and been replaced by a substantially smaller freighter , Hollandica 200 runners per sailing freighter 5. Massive ferry off smaller ferry used to replace it the loss of one crossing a day would be surprise if there wasn’t a delay.
Spoke to a friend (again MMTM not admissable in TNUK court of law to some) who came off the said freighter this morning in Harwich and said that when he drove out of the port at 06.45 it was busy around the entrance, hardly surprising given the time of day but there were no queues on the roads leading to the port.

You want specifics about the economic Apocalypse promised■■? Are you serious?
What’s the approach? Claim you never said such things or bog me down in specifics?
Ok let’s cut to the chase. If you’re disputing said Apocalypse I’m glad we can finally agree.

I am not going to indulge (Get a room, you two!)
But I used to use Harwich>Hoek v H regularly, and NEVER encountered a queue to get to the port. It was, indeed “Stena Hollandica” and I loved it, (apart from that waiter who whistled whilst tidying up) (even he was fine,) because I had free movement of goods, people and services within a controlled customs union and disembarking at HvH was “Good Morning!” And not:
“We need to see the declarations of every item on your vehicle with invoices, destinations, declarations, certificates and god knows what else!”
But Yay! Brexit is a triumph! We are all SO much better off, now that we have our precious “sovreignty” Aren’t we?
Aren’t we?
Could I do my old job now? Various items from antique dealers in London to various others in Den Haag, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris. Collections from Sotheby’s and Christies in Amsterdam destined to dealers in Paris. London, Zurich, New York?
Is it even possible?
Sorry Waku Brexit was not about old furniture getting moved about…had there been an eu armed forces we may have been heading for another world war .The eu is a mafia and we are better off out of it although eu is not all of Europe

Millions of the lowest paid workers, including lorry drivers, who do low/unskilled/undesirable jobs that saw a massive influx of Eastern Europeans are considerably better off. Many lorry drivers have seen 10,20,30,40,50% wage increases over the last 12 months with many now getting wages reserved for own contract FTSE 250 listed companies.
