Got to say, they won’t send anyone out to do a job unless they know what they’re doing, hence the training I’ll be receiving.

Best company I’ve worked for and I’ve worked for a lot of different companies doing various types of work.

There’s a lot of photographic evidence, and a few witnesses that can refute your first paragraph bud.

They seem to have sold you on the idea, good luck but I can’t help thinking along the lines of ‘Another lamb to the slaughter’
But hey! Don’t listen to me, I’m just a cynical seasoned old Trucker.

To be fair there are a lot of drivers that end up doing things their own way, mostly trying to find shortcuts, or drivers that just don’t understand how to do their job the way the company wants it doing. Usually these are the first to mess up.

Up to now like I said, best company I’ve worked for personally (one of the many I’ve worked for), however there will be different opinions on this.

Just to be clear, I’m not preaching in any way haha. There are even better places to work from what I’ve heard. Although they’re thin and far between and never recruit…

I know what you’re saying mate. I personally would never work for them, I’m a Carlisle lad and I remember their history especially the 80s, and how much [zb] they caused around here with for eg. a couple of my mates who were owner drivers and small haulage firms.
How far up their own arses with their co. bs/propoganda gets on my ■■■■ big style, I have a mate there who paints a very different picture to the ‘official line’
But mate , I hate the [zb] anyway…but it aint me it’s you, and if their way of doing things suits you …that is the main thing. Hope it all goes ok for you and that they live up to your expectations.
I’d be curious to know how your view is in say a years time.

I’d don’t no what to say or think rob, this flat bed work sounds like a great gig , when I finally get fit and back to work maybe its something I could look into doing :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

I’ve been at Stobarts/stobart group/whatever we are called this week, for quite a few years now. I find the general haulage men tend to be more company men. I am not a company man. I come to work. I am not a yes man. I get paid. I don’t socialise with my work mates.

I think theres many tiers of stobart drivers. You have the ones at the bottom, who come and go, the ones in the middle who have been there a while, know how things work and like it and then you have the guys at the top, the pride of the fleet. They mostly drive mercedes trucks, some are even just plain white, they drive all over europe and proceed to tell anyone that will listen how amazing they are. Mostly while ■■■■■■ up, hookers on both arms, and just before they all get thrown out and banned from said locations.

They dont show that on stobarts trucks and trailers. Would probably make the show more interesting though.

When I was there a few months ago Jim, I ended up being given one of the white F1 Merc Actros units for 3 or 4 days.

The amount of driver’s that asked me " How have you got that? ", was unreal.

Yet you drive a white Actros for Wincanton or whoever, and nobody gives a [zb]. It’s a strange world that we live in.

I said I would never work there, I’m starting to come round to the idea now, sounds like my kind of job.

Are you telling us you’re a miserable ■■■■ HS ? :open_mouth:

I’ve driven for plenty of companies e/b and other company drivers are no different to stobart drivers , you watch it go off if driver a, b, c doesn’t get the new truck and d does , drivers ,stobarts or joe blogs transport drivers hate the thought someone’s getting something there not .
And the bosses enjoy it , love giving the keys to the new truck to the new starter knowing how much it’s going to ■■■■ the 20/30 yr veterans off .
It’s all a game , but us thick drivers just haven’t got the hang of it yet

Not miserable. On the contrary. I’m a happy and joyous ray of sunshine.

I’ve never seen one of these. In fact I never knew they existed. I lead a sheltered life.

They aren’t any different Happysack, apart from a couple of small Williams F1 stickers and a CB radio.

I am sad enough to remember the reg no. If you type in ’ GN14 WMD flickr ’ into Google, you can fill your eyes with learning.

It does make me laugh seeing williams and pirelli f1 units on general haulage.
