Question to Stobart trampers?

mrginge:
It does mean I spend more time flashing lorries on the motorway as I have been in the pub with guys from other outfits doing the same work enough times.

Question to Stobart trampers. Can anyone actually confirm how much the weekend trampers roughly get on average? I’ve asked around but it varied from 32k - 45k (highly doubt 45k is correct).
Reason is I’ve got a transfer from days onto weekend tramping starting in a couple of weeks and want to know what I’ll roughly be earning. I’ll be doing Friday - Tuesday.
Thanks

What do you mean by days ,mon- fri ,tues - sat ,Thursday- mon
W/ end tramping ,is that days / nights
what job are you on ,some get money for going into London ,dirty money , load bonuses etc
there’s too many if / buts and maybes to put a figure on it , you’ll just have to see( but make sure you want w/end tramping) because in my experience it’s nigh on impossible to get off it ( I do tues - sat) , there’s a que for mon - fri days , but not for w/ end tramping ( few months ago ran out of hours sat night , couldn’t get back ,there was me and one other in services ) .

I’m on Friday - Tuesday days. It’s the new MIB contract based at Newark which I believe is all flat bed and swan neck work.
It is definitely what I want as it’s working around the wife and the kid at nursery etc.
Just wanted a rough estimate if any weekend trampers currently on days might have an idea.

Stobart allow park to night out at lay by, industrial services or just at services?

Thanks very much mate, appreciate the info.

Got some training next week then starting. I’ll always try max my hours while I’m away from home. Don’t want to be sat doing nothing if I can be earning.

Thanks again

Just remember there’s i.m.o.h.o a lot more chance of running out of hours tramping than days , obviously it doesn’t matter fri - mon ,but if you run out tues , can’t get back , you’ll have to night out and run in wedif you’ve used your 15,s you’ll have to have 11 off and could be mid morn, dinner time ,early afternoon before you get back .
I assume you know that/ THEYVE forewarned you there’s a chance .
Just thinking of nursery ,kids , looking after them .
Best of luck

Are you doing 2 days training at Appleton?

Is that in compliance?
And if so, how many times has poor dozy done it?

Everyone who starts at Stobart’s has to do a 2 day induction mate. Load of ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  it is too!

Counts as 2 years CPC, but if you leave before 6 month’s service, they expect you to pay them Ā£200 for the privilege.

Even if you get sacked?
Think you might have had a result!

No mate, already done them when I started with Stobarts.

Got training on different equipment I’ll be using for new job.

Got to say, they won’t send anyone out to do a job unless they know what they’re doing, hence the training I’ll be receiving.

Best company I’ve worked for and I’ve worked for a lot of different companies doing various types of work.

Yes only heard positive things about stobarts and this new venture of there’s ,flat bed work .

There’s a lot of photographic evidence, and a few witnesses that can refute your first paragraph bud.

They seem to have sold you on the idea, good luck but I can’t help thinking along the lines of ā€˜Another lamb to the slaughter’
But hey! Don’t listen to me, I’m just a cynical seasoned old Trucker.

To be fair there are a lot of drivers that end up doing things their own way, mostly trying to find shortcuts, or drivers that just don’t understand how to do their job the way the company wants it doing. Usually these are the first to mess up.

Up to now like I said, best company I’ve worked for personally (one of the many I’ve worked for), however there will be different opinions on this.

Just to be clear, I’m not preaching in any way haha. There are even better places to work from what I’ve heard. Although they’re thin and far between and never recruit…

I know what you’re saying mate. I personally would never work for them, I’m a Carlisle lad and I remember their history especially the 80s, and how much ā– ā– ā– ā–  they caused around here with for eg. a couple of my mates who were owner drivers and small haulage firms.
How far up their own arses with their co. bs/propoganda gets on my ā– ā– ā– ā–  big style, I have a mate there who paints a very different picture to the ā€˜official line’
But mate , I hate the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  anyway…but it aint me it’s you, and if their way of doing things suits you …that is the main thing. Hope it all goes ok for you and that they live up to your expectations.
I’d be curious to know how your view is in say a years time.

Yes I’ve heard a couple of other guys who have told me similar stories, which is certainly unfortunately and I can understand where you’re coming from.

4 or 5 years ago I wouldn’t have gone with them, but when I actually looked into it more and started with them I realised it’s actually not a bad place.

The thing that gets me is when someone says ā€˜I’d never work for Stobarts, they’re a s*#t company to work for.’ But when I ask why, their response is ā€˜I just don’t like them…’

Fair enough to you who has had bad experiences from them, but the general guy who gives me that ā€˜I just don’t like them’ response is beyond me. Then you see they work for Stobarts 2 years later haha.

Thanks mate and I’ll definitely let you know how I get on. Hopefully all goes well so I don’t have to p*ss about changing companies etc…
