Question for Stobbie drivers

Was talking to a driver of a firm that works alongside Stobarts, he was telling me about the stick some of the said co drivers give out to the Stobart drivers. Childish stuff like blocking them in, one guy who thought it funny to splash one who was walking through the yard, in a puddle :open_mouth: , and leaving them out when getting teas in etc, and general such childish bitchy stuff, Just the other day one of our lads while on the phone to me thought it funny to sit in front of one generally holding him up, until I suggested to him to stop being such a [zb] knob and let the guy overtake him. I personally think that Stobarts as a co deserve all the abuse they get, mostly because of the tv programme :unamused: making out they were the elite, and the fact that Bert & Ernie are so far up their own arses :unamused: , but the drivers can’t be held accountable for that (well most of them apart from the ā€œtv starsā€ :unamused:  ) and are only making a living like the rest of us. I know I’m guilty of giving Stobbies stick on here, and ok, I do enjoy it   , but the drivers are drivers at the end of the day. So has any Stobart drivers on here experienced stuff like this?
(Can’t mention Stobarts without having a pop otherwise I wouldnt feel right :smiling_imp:  So who is the bellend who drives a small cab Scania, pulling a shortarsed fridge trailer on the M62 regularly, who insists on sticking to the middle lane like ā– ā– ā– ā–  to a blanket :smiling_imp: , ignoring flashes from other drivers who have to resort to under-taking him, if you are on here you should not be let loose with anything bigger than a bike)

I used to work for them! Never had any ā– ā– ā– ā–  of a other drivers except when parked up daytime(night tramper) you used to get the odd bell-end on their horn driving past! Not man enough to stop and do it you see!

The only thing I ever noticed when driving for them was you tended to not get flashed in so much…no skin off my back, not that arsed about it tbh.

I used to lease to a furniture company in Carlisle and would regularly bump into Stobbies. It was no skin off my nose as I was relatively new to the game and saw them as another driver. I didn’t hate them, but then I didn’t consider them the elite either.

I still hold that opinion really.

I say thank you with my indicators, I flash them in when I’m happy enough they are clear, just another lorry and driver to me.

Robroy has a point, the ā€œTV starsā€ haven`t done the rest of the drivers who are trying to make a wage any favours

Seldom do I comment on a Stobart thread, I do read some of them though.
I don`t understand others opinions of them, opinions in the main which are childish and can be quite hostile. A driver is a driver, no matter who they work for, to treat some differently, because they drive for stobarts is just weird and suggests lack of emotional development from the person making negative comments.

However, I will say…IN the main, most lorry drivers lack emotional development, besides other things and I try and avoid them at all costs.

Lorry drivers…You do not have a lot going for you, you would have thought, that if nothing else, you would stick together and relish the camaraderie that is to be found on the road.

+1, just another brother or sister doing the same job.

when i tramped for them never had anything said in op the only think i found was when in rdc trying to kick of a convo with another driver was like pulling teeth no idea if it was to do with wearing a green shirt

How much of what you see on there is down to them, and how much down to editing to show them in whatever light the producers want? In any reality TV show / boy band / team etc, there is always a few certain types of character which must be shown:

The ā€˜Jack the lad’ type
The attractive girl
The know-it-all
The mouthy one
The quiet one

No doubt if there was a reality show made about TN, they could take any person off here and make them fit whatever character they wanted thanks to editing - ignoring gender constraints! I’d rather save judgement on any of them until I met them, rather than forming my opinions based on what some producer wants me to think.

Trouble is, probably less than 5% of what you see on TV these days has any real truth, as a country we have got so used to being lied to by people in positions of trust, that we no longer challenge it, just accept it. Combine that with the fact that so many people are desperate to be on TV, and TV executives are laughing all the way to the bank.

i bet you didnt speaksi the lingoski , that was what wrong
trzeba mówiÄ— jÄ™zykiem ojczystym w Tesco RSD i nie wszystkie nas facetów w zielonych koszulkach to idioci

I wiry with the Jenkinsons drivers, who on the whole are a decent bunch. But I have also been called such things as a stobart ā€œc u next Tuesdayā€ to my face. Told I am not allowed to use their shower for the above reason, not allowed to use the pressure washer for same reason…etc etc. water of a ducks back.

Mind you some of the folk I work with bring it in them selves, and their i’m better than you attitude!

never had anyone say anything to me or do anything when i worked there, most hostile comments i got where about the yellow and black uniform they had us wearing then…
as for being flashed in, my last job if was quite common not to be flashed in when overtaking only reason i can think of is the truck was on german plates…

Agree with every word, if we can’t look after each other we’re buggered, but thats a 2 way street.

Back to the OP, unfortunately some Stobart drivers bring derision on themselves.

About 2 weeks ago i went into Strensham Southbound services at 6am, made a quick cuppa and left 15 minutes later.

Those that know the services will recall there is only one way out for lorries, the single track to the left of the lorry fuel pumps.

Well not one but two Stobart lorries had stopped on that single track the first one of them presumably gone into the fuel station to get something, parked there for approximately 7 minutes, i watched this unfold with amazement.

Lorries queued up right round the lorry park trying to get out some managed to squeeze out the gap for cars via the right of the fuel station, it was chaos for a few minutes whilst i supped tea and all so unecessary given a moments thought and use of common sense by the offender.

Its thoughtless selfish actions like this that get lorry drivers as a whole a justifiably bad name, Stobart lorries tend to stand out so easily recognised, when they act the twerp its obvious to all.
