Was given a job to pick up a trailer from Skelmesdale. 
Now I dont get to go far normally, I just plod around Essex. 
Was all set to go sat morn at about 4am. When I was advised by some of our other drivers that I would be pushing my luck to do it in a day, a couple of other drivers said it could be done.
After some discussion I am now not goin 
So Chaps and Chapess’s,I know this is the real place to ask,so what is your opinion, is it doable 
you would be tight on a 9hr drive but fairly comfortable in 10hrs 
routeplanner says just under 4 hours…so as annitram says…giving traffic…doable in 9/10 hour day.

736 km round trip + traffic + roadworks…possible on a good day 
but i wouldnt bet on you getting back in 1 day

Knowing my luck I would hit enough traffic to balls up my hours, so perhaps it is a little tight

ive gone from northfleet to liverpool many times, but its all down to traffic if you leave at 4 you will make it to birmingham just as the traffic gets busy, i would defo ask for toll money the m6 is just as bad as m25,
were about in skem you picking up from ? maybe able tohelp with directions if ya need them

did you find it ok ? i picked up a skel from there a few weeks back easy place to find second left on the estate i think right down the bottom end
You’d be OK on a Saturday, be a nice run that. Should’ve gone for it, you’d have done it in ten hours driving. Satday money too I bet. Worse case, you’d have to night out in the truck or take a 24 and charge them for Sunday too!

Didn’t go,I couldn’t spend sunday parked up for 24 hrs,family commitments,visiting mother in law

Hello again, I’m now goin to skelmsdale friday afternoon.
I will be avin a nightout then pick trailer up sat morn then nice leisurely run back 
Can i park up at west pimbo ind est or is there restrictions,thats if I get that far. If not any suggestions as to where I could park.
We have paid parkin for the moto msa’s but will be able to claim back any charges,not that I want to fork out if I can help it.

the estate is a 1 way system there wil be plenty of lay-by’s on there just leave the back doors open u should be fine !
you can park in the side roads of the est no probs,nothing there tho .when you come off the m58 for skem,go all way round island,back under mway follow road and it will take you to an asda,5mins from where you want to be.or stop at lymm truckstop,25 mins from skem
if you are empty park in front of our depot (p&g) there is normally a green trailer there and a few lorrys parked up , plus we are always on the cameras looking across the road there to check if any of our loads have parked up,
I’m running up bobtail, so no curtain slashers to worry about

I personally wouldnt park at Skem, I would go to next junction up and park in Ormskirk town centre, especially asits a friday night!! then go to skem in the morning!!or if didnt get that far I would park at that ind est where asda is at wigan junct25 m6, good pub near there!!

this is what id do mate there is a taybarns around the corner all you can eat buffet
