Pulling the pin when parked

bald bloke:
I’m always checking mine when it’s left unattended it takes all of about 1 second to do just before you jump back in the cab .

This was drummed into me when I passed always check even when fuelled up

Prick of a thing to do for any reason. Like I had little sympathy for the idiot that went in his ute to get fuel, keys in ignition while he went to pay and some scrote had it away. You have to have your wits about you all the time now, wherever you are.

Winseer:
I’ve been known to “keep checking mine” driving along the New Cross road, each and every time I come to a stop, especially if masked by another large vehicle including buses in front of me.
Modus Operandi is some non-white youth will pull your red button out, and when you jump out and reset it, another bod unclips your dog clip, and pulls the handle.
So, you go back around that side, and check your 5th wheel before getting back into the cab.

My beef with all this is that these louts always seem to stay just out of reach (you don’t get confronted, even by multiple youths) but sooner or later there is going to be some kind of serious altercation between a driver+possible mate and a small group of these guys who seem to think they are the gang that owns the district.
Even when stationary for a good 5-10 minutes, no police appear from anywhere. Odd that.

As to what I’ve experienced or seen up close - the vehicle in front of me has been done both trucks and buses, and I look on with dismay at the poor EE agency driver running around his combination trying to put things right before moving off again. :frowning:

I wish we truckers were allowed in law to club together to protect ourselves like as happens in this old chestnut video…

It’s been around a while but I still love watching it.

I check mine after fuelling or going for a ■■■■ in services or anytime the truck is left unguarded.

I wonder about folk that do this. I would have no problem leathering the absolute crap out of anyone i caught in the act doing this…unless he was bigger than me of course and looked hungry.
