Then you should understand my generic use of the word “law”?

Has it really reverted to cheap points scoring? :unamused:

Nah. But your use of this “Generic” word is deceitful.

Deceitful in a court of law, yes. Not on an Internet forum.

Hi again RoadsRat.
Let’s clear something up. With respect I don’t wish to enter into a full-blown argument with you, and will not from this point on.

I digress and apologise to other forum users, but.

What I can’t agree with, is policemen quoting phrases to members of the public which are specifically designed to intimidate as in the use of generic words and other tactics. It’s not right.
To give an example, your footnote:
“You didn’t think we give pretty women tickets? You’re right, we don’t… Sign here.”
Now then. Do you inform the recipient that they are not obliged to sign anything?
More importantly, that they are not obliged to answer your questions? NO. Because if you did then the intimidation tactic is of no use to you.
Something for you, and those reading, to think about. Cheers.

Re my footnote, it’s a bit of humour and not part of the official guidelines. Maybe I need to add a disclaimer?

As we haven’t met, I’m not going to get into an argument with you over my procedures.

That’ll be the old bill who spend all day talking on their radios then?

you posted that knowing that it would get a reaction!

gezt:
it does puzzle ma alot (most things do actually) but you see a well blinged up truck with all the fancy kit and the driver cannot seem to afford a £10 Bluetooth piece, you would have thought that was the in :unamused: gadget to have whilst driving. (makes you look important i hear especially when having your dinner in the cafe)

I think that when i see someone driving a £50,000 car and there on there mobile with it to there ear. :unamused:

Harry Monk:
To be honest, I just can’t work out what you are doing here. There are numerous Police forums on the internet, I wouldn’t join one of them just to point out that they are simply trying to get revenge for being unpopular and bullied at school.

Why don’t you just post to a Police forum where you might be treated as an equal by your fellow inadequates?

Sorry Harry but i recall you saying this to me but with the added word Troll being mentioned.

It’s a free world and i think this has been discussed in this topic

Using a phone, sat nav or other device when driving - GOV.UK

Penalties for using your phone while driving

If you’re caught using a hand-held phone while driving or riding, you can get an automatic fixed penalty notice. You’ll get 3 penalty points on your licence and a fine of £60.

Your case could also go to court and you could be disqualified from driving or riding and get a maximum fine of £1,000. Drivers of buses or goods vehicles could get a maximum fine of £2,500.

:open_mouth:

Ive been told if you get caught in scotland aswell as the points and fine, your license is suspended for 2 weeks by the commissioner.

No sympathy for anyone caught using their phones while driving, but I don’t agree with this. Seems like you are being punished twice for the same crime!

I agree with you. You get fined and points and then you get sorted out by some jumped up sod and get banned for 2 weeks when car drivers just get the fine and points.

I joined to clear up the many “misunderstandings” involving the law.

Unfortunately it’s turned into a slagging match, personal attacks and false aspersions being thrown around by a small minority.

Somehow I’m in the wrong. :unamused:

Given the punctuation I can only agree with the last sentence. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Which punctuation might that be?

Punctuation looks ok to me.
Capitals, full stops, a comma to separate items in a short list, spelling’s ok too.

On top of that, as this is a truck drivers forum rather than a office desk drivers forum, the standard of written English has never been allowed to detract from the validity of someones argument. Provided their argument was clear enough to understand of course.
Bringing up the question of the standard of someones written English has, conversely, always been considered as being done by a complete plonker.

Yes, I’m of the same thinking!

I’m sure Wiretwister won’t be shy and will provide an explanation.

Your statement, admission, confession that “Somehow I’m in the wrong” I was agreeing with. The puhctuation reference was as a result of your comment on page 7 of this thread

Given the professed superiority you would have known that a rhetorical question would have ended with a question mark.

Your contribution to this forum has been robotic and confrontational and, aided by your former colleague Mickeyblue, been a depressing display of the worse kind of police arrogance and bovine excrement. Planet Plod may well be black and white but on planet Earth there are many more shades and nuances that impact on our daily lives. Good day sir I will not be responding to any more of your trolling diatribes.

Just to correct you, i am not aiding Roadsrat at all. If you look at Roadsrat’s first ten post’s you will see that he was sort of dishing the dirt towards me and belittling me. Yes, he is a copper and i “WAS” one, but it doesn’t mean that i will be siding with him with every anti police post. Now if you could prove that i am aiding him then please do, if not, leave me out of it.

I am also NO troll!

No disrespect to you Roadsrat

I think i said this before to you and you got upset and got very rude about it. Police have nothing to do with safe parking etc. It’s down to the driver to know where it is safe, or not, and my advice is, If you know that the area your parked in is a fuel hot spot area then don’t park there at all. If you do park in that area then your to blame, no one else. (Apart from the herberts who steal the fuel)

That is quite an insight into the thinking process of the police don’t you think? The person who has been offended against is to blame. Maybe the little old lady who has her handbag pinched is to blame for being petite of build, of advancing years, and of the female gender?

Or what about the householder who is beaten by a burglar is it his fault for having the audacity to have a roof over his head?

Of course that is just the small stuff maybe Jamie Bulger was to blame for his miss-fortune in being accosted by those vile people Thomson and Venables?

That was a disgraceful statement to make and shows, to me, that there are areas that are no go for police operations but not surprising as they would be labour intensive and the manhour to conviction ratio must be maintained mustn’t it.

Just as an aside have a listen to Jeremy Vine on the play again, I think it was Wednesday, right at the start of the program a feature on the theft of pushbikes in the capital, the victim of a theft having to do her own detective work to get a very distinctive bicycle returned. Also in the feature a list of known markets where stolen property is sold on.

What should matter is where, when, and road conditions.
it dosn’t matter if someone is holding a phone, on hands free, getting nagged, or listening to screaming kids. It’s a distraction. and if that distraction occurs at the wrong time, it can result in an accident.
I can’t see why they fine people for using a phone on a deserted motorway at 3am to the same degree as they do with someone driving past a school at 0830.
one is pretty safe, the other is plain stupid.

i can use my cb as and when i want to, but i don’t. it’s as and when it’s safe. the same with the phone.
i can make these decissions because i’m professional. being professional means being a yes man to some, but not to me.

Good post!

His user name- RoadsRat- his location- hiding on the slip road- and his two signatures, everything about him screams “troll”.

Presuming he is genuinely a traffic officer then he is probably still harbouring the hurt he felt being being picked on and pointed at in school by his peers in his formative years, probably while getting changed for swimming lessons as his classmates cocked their little fingers over in imitation of his ■■■■■ and laughed at him. I’m sure we all knew someone like him at school.

You clearly haven’t got over being bullied at school Harry. After all of these years, the hatred is still there.

But it’s ok now, you can play the Internet hard man from behind your computer screen. I almost pity you.

I do so much wish you would ■■■■ off and go and harass a couple of old ladies or something equally easy for you …

How can you reply to the internet on the internet without being behind a computer screen? It seems an impossability to me. Thats like saying you come on here as a copper but don’t give us your name and number ?
Give us your name and number then we can go beyond the computer screen

He’s like something unpleasant stuck on our shoes. Probably a metaphor for the whole UK police force as in the eyes of the public.

I see RoadsRat is up to his old tricks again… and now with his little sidekick Mickyblue who appears to have also adopted the multiple posts in a row technique.
