Random rant…why do so many professional drivers insist on driving whilst on their mobiles and steering with their elbows.
We have all seen our fair share of accidents; how many of them caused by drivers distracted by the vital phone call.
I think more drivers should be pulled by the old bill, maybe then attitudes might change.
same reason car drivers use mobiles whilst driving with their dicks .
You are right though ,count how many cars/trucks you pass tomorrow and see how many drivers are on the phone and i bet it’s somewhere near 1 in 5 and you can count those drivers having a good old rant to the office on the hands free because you can bet while they are having a meeting at 80mph on the m1 they ain’t watching the road

All we need, another thread where Roadsrat can join in and tell us how pants we are at our job. No offence to you madmackem but this will just be hi jacked by our regular gobby copper
it does puzzle ma alot (most things do actually) but you see a well blinged up truck with all the fancy kit and the driver cannot seem to afford a £10 Bluetooth piece, you would have thought that was the in gadget to have whilst driving. (makes you look important i hear especially when having your dinner in the cafe)
What should matter is where, when, and road conditions.
it dosn’t matter if someone is holding a phone, on hands free, getting nagged, or listening to screaming kids. It’s a distraction. and if that distraction occurs at the wrong time, it can result in an accident.
I can’t see why they fine people for using a phone on a deserted motorway at 3am to the same degree as they do with someone driving past a school at 0830.
one is pretty safe, the other is plain stupid.
i can use my cb as and when i want to, but i don’t. it’s as and when it’s safe. the same with the phone.
i can make these decissions because i’m professional. being professional means being a yes man to some, but not to me.
Harry Monk:
That’ll be the old bill who spend all day talking on their radios then?
90% of the time handsfree? The other 10% will be handheld as allowed by the regs?
No different to truck drivers with CB’s?
Yes, it’s true that a truck driver can legally use a CB while the vehicle is in motion.
So what makes a mobile phone more dangerous than a CB? The lack of a curly wire?
You are just showcasing your Police mentality, you do what you do because you were summonsed to a meeting and told to do it. You don’t use your own judgment because that has been battered out of you.
As Upton Sinclair said, “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it”

Break any law and you deserve what comes your way.
Sorry the world doesn’t run the way you want it to.

I didn’t set the laws. Perhaps your MP can help you understand the reasoning about the mobile law set by government?
You can use your CB while driving and police officers can operate their radios while driving. What’s the problem?

It’s a stupid and an unneeded law .Why target mobile phones ? why not cb’s or stupid bints and makup or messing with the radio ? all are equally as distracting in the wrong conditions .There already were laws in place to cover inappropriate use of phones ,the same law that allow a person to be prosecuted for eating an apple whilst driving ,it’s called driving without due care and attention
In this day an age I would have thought new cars would come with some sort of EMP thingy that knocks your phone out as soon as you get in a car or truck.
Might pitch it on the next series of dragons den.

LOL well sorry to disappoint you roadsrat but spent an hour with you fine colleagues today in carlisle and given a clean bill of health so I do follow the law. In all the times i have been pulled have never met a VOSA who also thought he was comedian or smart ■■■ sadly can’t say the same for the police
