Prison for this foreign driver

eadt.co.uk/news/lorry_driver … _1_4177132

I wonder whoms picking up the expense for the bell…end whilst he’s in prison…of course us the British tax payer…send the vermin home…he didn’t no what a load ov bollarks. …ban from driving eh…he.ll able to drive in europe as soon as he comes out…

I live down the road from where this happened.

Caused absolute chaos for hours.

But, granted, his load wasn’t secure and it went over, that’s his fault and when carrying hazardous chemicals you shouldn’t be so stupid.

Friend of mine who works in Needham Market as a retained firemen gave me the whole story. There was maybe a litre of whatever the chemical was actually spilt, but the fire brigade went totally overboard with it all because they’re struggling to justify their budget. Not a lot happens in suffolk, if anything they’re just in stand by in case there’s a fire or leak at the big paint factory. They went to town in everything and spent a ridiculous amount of money on a spill that could’ve been cleared up with a bag of sand, but instead they closed a fairly major/busy bit of road and made a huge fuss about it just so they’d get their budget for next year.

Absolute joke.

Another one has successfully got through the tunnel, for a free stay in Britain at British taxpayer’s expense. :unamused:

Probably asked on here whether or not he needed to strap his load down.
He should have told the judge he was old school and it should have been alright.

reading the above i think the fire brigade got it just right . this idiot had no ADR licence or training no ppe or equipment to deal with this spill no markings to say he was carrying hazardous goods suspect the paperwork was of little use so they went with the most cautious approach possible easy with hindsight to say they went ott .if you dont know what you are dealing with you dont ■■■■ about

Question!

OK the driver was carrying dangerous goods, but how did he get assigned this load?

Is there a transport manager involved in this? Or was this some shady backdoor deal he arranged himself?

Yeah, I bet he’s over the moon with the fact. If he’d have slipped off scot free you’d probably be moaning then too. Trucknet gets worse and worse. ‘At tax payers expense’ is becoming the new ‘so called professional driver’

I’m no bleeding heart socialist. But it sounds like he should have been given the benefit of the doubt and sent home to his stated ill wife and to look after his kids. Then ban him from driving here and impound the truck and flog it at auction. :bulb:

Yep theres a lot of old school idiots who get away with this daily, trouble is this day and age driving a truck is akin to an arse covering exercise of epic proportions.

Diesel Dave may correct me but what we have here is a class 6 toxic substance spillage, overkill by the firebrigade is a given and driver is up ■■■■ street.

Well over the top sentence, a fine would have been enough, but prison and banned from driving probably ruined the rest of that blokes life.Just think when you heroes are slagging blokes like this off it could be me or you one day, just saying.

I see he used the “poorly wife” and “children in education” excuses. So what?

Driving without due care and attention
Insecure load
No ADR training
No plates showing what he was carrying

Which bit do you think is acceptable

Prison may be “a bit much” but if it goes anyway to getting people like him off the road then fair enough.

Would like to know which company he was driving for and whether they were investigated.

That is what we call “Threw the book at him”

He will be out in 5 months, he could also be out in 2.5 months on tag but I doubt it as he hasn’t got a UK address to be curfewed to.

Sentence was a bit harsh IMO but in perspective, if he was driving like a ■■■■ and had hazardous goods without ADR, markings and the required kit then it is justifiable.

Lets see everyone have the same standards when its a British driver who does similar! not a hope in hell all the excuses come out

I didn’t give a second thought to his nationality…

He’s a danger to others and himself, get him off the roads no matter what language he may or may not speak.

totally agree…he must av known what he was carrying…i always ask when i load any where cmrs ect …but here again im ENGLISH …heres always an excuse …same as the t…ts in calais im fleeing a war zone other words i want to sponge >>>>>>>>>>…

When I was on pallets, sometimes I used to collect IBCs from chemical plants, you know the ones, where you have to hand in the firms phone, your phone yer satnav and wear full PPE and get escorted. Oh and lighters and matches, e cigs blah blah.

Used to drive back to the yard hands a tremble  , a cubic yard of that ■■■■ could be well disastrous if spilt.

On another note, unless I showed my ADR card I wouldn’t get loaded, simple as that, whether it was at the plant or, say, Harris Transport.

Photocopies of it taken and stapled to the paperwork.

Which is only right and proper.
