Prioritise hgv drivers for the vaccine petition

Jayjay350z:
I wouldn’t get out of bed for that 34k in all my hgv years I’ve never taken home any were near that low

But how many hours would you need to do to take home the same as I do for 36.5hrs? And there’s the rub. I’m only doing 36.5hrs over 4 days for that so I’ve got plenty of working and driving time l can use to earn more whereas you’ll be pretty much near the limit of what you can work in a week.

2 days Saturday and Sunday pays me your 4days

My rates are all different as I get time and half
Double time
Triple time
Unsociable rate
Basic rate is £18

He spammed the forum yesterday with multiple threads (fortunately admin deleted most of them).
He’s started the threads about COVID but you’ve all bitten and made it about ■■■■ waving and how much you earn…
Any driver (or any other employee in any other industry)that feels the need to publicly brag about how much they earn are surely not playing with a full deck and you lot are falling for this trolls bullshine!

One forum member even went to the ridiculous extreme of posting a photo of his payslip earlier, he’s not that bright though he’s even posted his address on other forums when he’s offered to break the nose of forum members ( google will soon bring his details up won’t they Mr Turton?).
Ignore him, he’s a troll.

It appears the new boy is a goods inwards clerk for one of the multinationals.

Sorry but according to you you must be lying if you’re claiming you earn that driving lorries given what you said:

Jayjay350z:
All you truck drivers sit here saying you earn a lot of money for Monday to Friday there is no such job that pays good money in truck driving for Monday to Friday.

So clearly if you posted that then you can’t be on the rate you’re claiming you’re on given that even for a nornal 37-40hr week it would put you at over a third higher than the national average wage or you’re not a lorry driver in which case your opinions count for nothing on a truck driving forum.

I don’t work Monday to Friday
I take my rest days in the week
I work week ends and I work the maximum hours
If it wasn’t for pension payments not counted towards tax I’d be in 40% tax

You get out what you put in and I put the maximum in and get the maximum out

I wouldn’t be happy only earning 34k
And taking home only 24 to 25k

For all you guys who sit and troll about me moaning about truckers and poor pay
It seems like now your the ones moaning about the pay what have you got to say about that then
Explain your selfs LOL

Monkey241:
Maybe he quoted it as he sees it as GOOD money for what he does?

I’d tend to agree… its not a fortune but its a perfectly acceptable rate that he’s happy with.
In a discussion touching on whether there’s ‘good money’ in driving I’d say its entirely pertinent for him to point this out.
His hourly rate is a couple of quid more than mine which means my take hone is better…but I’d happily swap from my 48 hour average to his 40 hour.
I’d rather have the extra hours for family than a couple of grand extra TVM

I’ve been like that for a long time, I know of too many lorry drivers who’ve ended up being divorced because they were never at home including my best friend.

I literally do nothing more complicated or hard than drag a trailer full of kitchens from A to B, pick up another trailer and drive from B to A and go home. And the money I’m on for the area I live in puts me well above the average. For the level of skill that lorry driving is with the low entry requirements the point I was making is there are are jobs with companies where driving lorries will pay you well and pay you even more than graduate positions and that’s the point that was being made. Certainly I can find you no end of teachers, nurses and even doctors, all with degrees, who would love to earn £34k a year for an actual 40hr week instead of the 50+ including work they do on weekends they end up doing. Hell even a doctor who is a Speciality Registrar making actual real life and death decisions doesn’t earn more for a 40hrs week until they’re on pay scale grade 2 and they’ve had to spend several years training plus at least 3 years post qualification to reach that. And all I need to do my job is a pulse, a driving licence and to sit in a classroom 7hrs once a year staring at a whiteboard trying to keep my eyes open.

I’m not moaning about my pay. I wouldn’t even need to increase my hours by more than 50% to put me well into the 40% bracket and I’d not need to work weekends to do it but I’d rather be someone who works to live than lives to work and what I get is more than enough to pay for the lifestyle I’m wanting to live.

Going on what you said about your £18 hourly rate and time and a half and double time pay structure and maxing out hours taking your days off during the week you must be on over £80k a year (although I doubt we’ll ever see any proof). Fill your boots, you’re welcome to it. I’d rather be at home doing what I want than sitting in an 8ft x 6ft cab miles away from home, friends and family all the waking hours of the day.

I think he’s only piped up again because he’s upset about the fact he’s actually the lowest paid here
Maybe he’s not even a trucker and just a C1 driver on grand dad licence intiltments
Grumpy because he’s the smallest here and on the lowest pay
Oh didums

Now that is poor quality trolling: perhaps Grumpy was right?

Still, if nothing else, this forum shows that trucking at least allows the barely literate, most socially inadequate to attain an above average wage.

It seems if you put enough hours in, you can indeed polish a turd.

Good for you, Albatross!

To be fair, it’s not close to every forum.

[emoji1787]

As for pretending to be a trucker?
Simply absurd - I’m content with being a trucker, but it’s certainly nothing to Walt about [emoji1787]

You may have noticed (though given your lack of logical thought processes, probably not) that I also had a bit of a dig at Grumpy.

Is there anything else you’d like to add, or shall we just leave it as the rantings of an inadequate who believes the world is against him? (Nothing to do with a complete lack of social skills, eh?

Nope. Not at all)

As for underpaid, I think we may have different definitions here. What I earn is entirely adequate.

Would I be so content without my monthly pension top up? Probably not, but I’m doing something that I usually enjoy… without the need to flog myself every weekend.

Nobody who drives a lorry is lazy in the grand scheme of things.

And I’m not just a trunker, I switch between days and nights. Currently I’m chilling out on nights doing trunking. When I’m on days I’m doing store deliveries and supplier collections.

I don’t sit on bays all day. I’ve not sat on a loading bay for years. At most I have an hour to an hour a half a day including my 45 minute break where I’m sat waiting if the person I’m trailer swapping with has been delayed. However if you’re maxing out your hours as you claim you must have at least one day a week where you’re spending 6hrs not driving and most days spending at least 4 sat there.

No point earning loads of money for your family to have a better life if you’re missing it all because you’re always at work, especially if you’ve school age kids and you work weekends meaning you’ll get to see them for a whole 6-10hrs a week on the two week days you’re at home between them getting home from school and going to bed. Those of us who prefer to do minimal hours mostly do because we’ve experienced first hand the downsides and impact to health and family life that being a “hero” banging in all the hours comes with and learned the lessons.

Incidentally 18 quid an hour would put you about 37 grand for a 40 hour week.
Factor in overtime and weekend rates and yet you still claim you’re not on 40% tax?

Without forensically examining the maths that doesn’t smell right [emoji1787]

Thanks but again your wrong I work 5 shifts
I have 2 off
Zero nights out
I do it on bays alot
I leave it on other work alot
I do get alot of time at home WTD
I don’t need to use P.O.A this will only send me in to 40% tax
I have been known to do 15 hour shift on only 45mins worth of break

Not that I’ve done 14hours work I’ve just not used P.O.A or left it on break
I don’t need to get my work time down as WTD allows me to have a ridiculous amount of days at home per year plus holidays plus rest days

And now Jayjays story starts to unravel as if we expected anything less. That’s what happens why you lie Jayjay…you end up tying yourself up in knots.

You told us you worked max hours but now apparently you don’t because you don’t use PoA or break so therefore it’s not legally possible to do the maximum hours. And if you don’t use POA because that’d apparently send you into the 40% tax bracket which is about £50k, given all the guff you gave it about being on £18/hr, time and a half overtime, double time on Sundays and taking time off during the week because you work weekends etc you won’t be working many more hours than I am if you claim you’re keeping below the 40% tax bracket.

You’re full of crap. You’ve told so many lies and contradictions and made so many wild claims that none of the above actually makes any sense at all. The maths simply doesn’t stack up in any way, shape or form. If you’re maxing the hours as you claimed with the pay structure and bonuses you reckon you get you’d be on well over £80k a year. If you were putting money into your pension to avoid being in the 40% bracket you’d have to put pretty much putting in the maximum permissable annual contribution of £40,000 a year. But you can’t be maxing out the hours because you’ve just said you don’t use POA and you only take 45 minutes of breaks in a 15hr shift so the maximum you’d be doing a week on average over a year excluding breaks is just a mere 10-11/hrs more than I do, with a maximum of just 22-23hrs a week more otherwise you’re in breach of the WTD. If you’re claiming that because of the hours you do you spend ridiculous amounts of time at home to keep within the WTD then you’re not going to be on the mega money you’re claiming because you don’t get paid to sit at home not working.

Jayjay Jackanory, tell us another story.

If you’re going to lie you need to at least keep it consistent.
