I’m on more than that (my hourly rate is less though)…but for an average 48 hour week and I’d happily reduce to less than 40.

I started driving hgv because I thought it paid well when i got into it I soon found out that my wages wasnt any diffrent to the job my last job on a fork lift
Its only more in a hgv because I was doing more hours and working week ends
If i would have done more hours on a fork lift truck and worked week ends my money would be exactly the same
And i believe a class 1 driver should be on more than a forklift driver but there not
The guy who sent is pay slip 40 hours take home 475
I was taking home 500 on a reach truck in a warehouse for 40 hours back 10 years ago

I dont even know why he sent his wages across on here maybe he wanted to brag and he may of achieved it as we are all on diffrent wages
I earn alot more than him but i do alot more hours
I work week ends and take my rest days in the week and that suits me fine i do get time an half for Saturday’s an double time on Sundays and my work days all fall on bank holidays witch is paid at triple time
I work long hours and crap days like week ends and bank hoildays but in paid more for it
And that suits me
I do have alot if days off and i do get a few WTD days off witch suits me fine aslo all that matters is what suits you an your life style an thats what counts i will always think the driving should pay more but it looks as like it never will if it did would i still work week ends bank holidays an long hours yes i would because you always want a bit more REGADLESS what you earn

The only drivers I know who say (or think) they are on good money,.are those who knock the arse out of the job maxing out,.and then add their night out subsistence on to it to convince themselves.

I’d tend to agree… its not a fortune but its a perfectly acceptable rate that he’s happy with.
In a discussion touching on whether there’s ‘good money’ in driving I’d say its entirely pertinent for him to point this out.
His hourly rate is a couple of quid more than mine which means my take hone is better…but I’d happily swap from my 48 hour average to his 40 hour.
I’d rather have the extra hours for family than a couple of grand extra TVM
