I am not going to condemn the driver, I would just like to say “there but for the grace of God” … it could happen to any of us if we had a lapse of concentration.
I am, sorry it’s the one thing I can’t excuse.

i know some firms will employ anyone, but prestons of potto don’t generally employ fools. so i’ll put that down to just one of those days.
they do mate, i worked there a good few years and there was some idiots there, some top class blokes who knew there stuff but a few planks as well
unlucky drive, hope you got out ok
fortunately you work for a good firm…had you worked for a less popular outfit, this thread would be 4 pages long by now.
I used to clip the height warning sign on a petrol station with my double decker bus.It was only the sign which stuck down about 2 feet in the way.

are you sure
think they pay them £6.80 per hour

I think they should all have to have the height in feet as well as metres. Not that it would stop you being any higher I just don’t like having to convert it.
I often think its asking for trouble having it in metric, all the road signs have to be in imperial so chances are most drivers will only work with imperial measurements. It’s not as if it would cost the petrol station any extra andit might save the odd hit or two.

To be fair they do run a lot of flats. Having said that, that forecourt is low.

maybe so but they look totaly different, would have thought he would have noticed the difference before demolishing the forecourt
Not as bad as this guy:
Don’t have any pictures of the accident as I wasn’t there. All I know is that the driver was based in Potto and if I remember correctly I think he got the sack couldn’t be sure of it though. But I think that happened sometime last year a couple months before my article got published. Couldn’t say anymore on it though as I’ve had a sleep or two since then
Cheers

No excuse I’m afraid. Copied from the last page of a Philips Navigator and lives in my wallet…
Maybe he was empty with the midlift up and it was that extra height which got him?
Anyone who thinks they’d never do it is a bigger fool than someone who has, and no, I’ve never done it.
If it was that close, don’t do it anyway. Know your height, err on the side of caution if you’re not sure.

That’s a real pain on Scumia’s, why can’t they just lift the axle properly like all other trucks

I’m inclined to endorse that one. I remember a few years ago I was in conversation with a Prestons driver, and the impression I got was that they’ve a loyal workforce, and they’re loyal to their workforce.
[zb] as they say, does happen, and I for one would never crow over someone elses misfortune, I’m just not that good…

Have you seen the other videos on their channel? There’s some proper classics!

i doubt it, as the lift axle is down on the picture.
but i can’t understand why some drivers do that with scanias. they can be reset quite easily.
it’s usually the same class of driver that dosn’t drop the air on the unit when dropping a trailer.
