Hi everyone, I recently move in around lester area , currently searching around for hauliers with Nice Scanias for class 1 work, family run business maybe ? I’m just fed up of the big company’s full of bla bla bla and random units every day …
I have few years of experience and I like a fast paced environment, own a ADR licence too !
Any help or advice where I should be looking ?
Company names ?
Many thanks !
Swing past you local Scania dealership and have a look at who’s motors are sitting there waiting for service/inspection. Then approach those companies.

That’s a good point there ! I know my topic may sound a bit odd and perhaps stupid , but even tho I’m 35 ,I’m a petrol head sort of speak , love to drive something that looks unique or sound good , just trying to look for some pleasure in a job type that gets worst by the day in many aspects :-/ sometimes I feel like quitting HGV stuff but I love driving :-/

So primarily you’re looking for a unit to drive that also comes with a job?
I am always amused by those set their job expectations on how classy the truck is and not the pay and conditions
Years ago as I was travelling up the A1M in Yorkshire I listened to two guys talking on the CB about their trucks and pay and one said …
“The boss asked me if I wanted a pay rise or a new Scania ? I said I’ll take the Scania please” The conversation went on and the subject of how much they actually got paid, I drove an old but clean Volvo F10 for Swifts but we earned a guaranteed 10% over and above all other transport companies back then, this was when it was still owned by Rick Swift. I overtook the two guys when I got a bit farther up the road and one said “Bring it in Swift, with your wreck”
I said “It may be a wreck as you put it but it pays me more than you earn obviously”

What happened to starting on the oldest motor and working your way up??.
regards dave.
I drive a Scania and I think the ride is terrible, it spends all day kicking me in the back. I had a rental MAN for a week when I started and I’d honestly prefer to be driving that.
I was in a 66 plate Scania towing walking floor trailers around .I will compare it to driving a simular 66 plate actros .Stiff as a board and back ache for a week after.
I prefer wallowy old m.a.n or dafs to any of the Scanias .
Volvo are a much better comfotable drive imo .

Yes I agree , I been Driving 16 plate Scanias lately and they not as comfortable as Volvos FH/FM , similar ride like Actros , believe it or not my back somehow don’t match with DAFs , the seat position ain’t great for me , drove a few XFs and not impressed, the manuals were alright but new 16plate Auto are totally rubbish … the Reason I prefer Scanias the most it’s the Dash layout including the fact that it’s lower on passenger side for visibility, seating position and the Unique V8 sound !

Totally see your point ! New truck full of lights usually means low pay , BUT now a days we get low pay everywhere more or less , may as well at least look for something that we like to drive ! [emoji16]
Saying this , I would totally be happy with and old manual model with a good exhaust Note [emoji41][emoji12]. Love a good classic !
I’ve overcome the “Scania Back” seating issue, piece of memory foam seat pad on the buttock part an similar up the back rest, then a nice padded seat cover over that, armrests down an I’m happy, like sitting on an old armchair with the windscreen showing some bad driving habits likes of which you see on ch5.
An it’s a 66 plate auto, seats and bed not the comfiest, but my motto is adapt and overcome!!
