Pollocks Scotrans

With regard to it being almost impossible to book holidays, if you are stopped from taking your full holiday allowance, do they pay you for the unused holidays or do you lose them?

It’s illegal to pay for unused holiday now! You can transfer upto 5.6 days from one year to the next though!

So it’s use them or lose them. Thanks for that.

So far we know that Pollocks are on a lower wage, they want to bring tramping to Gilbraiths (with Pollocks units), and that the Gilbraith drivers will stay as they are for around 12 months before any major changes.

No, but I was Based at a depot in the north of England.
The job was easy, never pushed and the kit was decent. I was only with them about 4 months as it was just a fill in til something better turned up.
Another little trick they have is if you have a bump and you can’t prove it’s not your fault they will deduct it from your wages! Again, it’s true cause I’ve seen it on lads payslips!
You won’t be surprised to know they had a high turnover at the depot I was at.

Depot or TRUCKSTOP? :sunglasses: or the land of SHEEP! BELLEND ROAD IS FULL OF SHEEP! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: LEEDS?

If they can’t prove it wasn’t your fault and there is no proof it was the drivers either how the hell can they take money on no evidence?? If it’s the drivers fault then so be it (still disagree with deductions) but if the driver just can’t prove it cos of circumstances then that’s just ■■■■.

Not disputing you at all (I believe it 100% in fact) but that’s utter crap from the firm.

Watch out for 90 days notice to change contract!

nearly there:
I heard all fur coat and no knickers

all GASH  no FLASH! :sunglasses: ok  all flash :open_mouth: no cash! for THEIR drivers! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

They will give you dates that are available! Like it or lump it…

Speaking to a Pollock driver earlier on and he tells me they have bought Grampian McLennans now too.

Blimey, thems going for it then if it’s true. All that folding knocking about, you never know the Pollock boys might be next in line for some of it. I doubt they pay any worse than most general haulage tramp firms.

I just showed that to a grampian maclennans driver just now and he said there was a rumour that they were up for sale as the owner had lost his son but didnt know who was interested

Looks like a tidy firm that Grampian Maclennans, the fellow was in one of the mags a while back with his v8.

Shame about his son, gotta be the worst knock loosing your bairn.

You might be thinking about Grampian Continental with the tidy V8. Grampian McLennan is a total different company.

Trucker’s Girl:
But is it going to be good for the Gilbraith drivers?

Not at all, a few of our drivers are ex Gilbraiths, and Gilbraiths come to our place twice a day with boards, apparently at the moment it is £7.90 plus time and a Half and double time Sundays plus they tend to give you what you want, if you want five nights out you get it, three nights out you get that, plus it was a family firm that cared, supposed to be a good job but all that will change.

in that case why are they needing so many agency drivers? we supply loads to them

Changed days then because , a year ago at Christmas he was farming out his drivers to an agency on royal mail contracts because things were quiet.

So they apparently have no qualms paying over the odds to line the pockets of an agency, why not pay a DECENT rate direct to employees?

You’re right Sir, I thank you for the correction.

I’m only saying that in the last 6 months they have lost at least 7 drivers that I know of including me, I’ve already been told to watch what I say on this matter by admin, they can’t keep drivers coz they treat them like ■■■■■ and pay a ■■■■ poor rate for the privilege.

I see a Pollocks driver always takes his break on the pumps at Golden Fleece services through the night. He’s a tall well built old bloke around 70 years old.I always wonder if he’s lonely cos he is always chatting to the female cashiers, almost to the point that he is stalking them.

PS…His unit is brand new and all blinged up.
