they phone me twice a day last 3 days chasing me for night trunking. was tempted to go but went for interview before and thought the driver trainer kevin was patronising and rude
sayersy:
No personal experience, but the their reputation is terrible. I freely admit this is rumour, but several people have told me the tale of a driver that was refused permission to attend his father’s funeral as he had no holidays left. He naturally went anyway, and was dismissed. Anyone know if there’s any truth in it?
A good friend of mine has just left them, I’m not putting anything in public as it could be considered slander, but any bad news people give you about them, times it by ten.
Awaiting Mr Pollock himself to give us a telling off now
Spoke to my M8 last night, he got a phone call out the blue from Pollock Scottrans to see if was interested in class 1 work, he’s never applied, has no idea how they got his number, he’s in a full time position. He declined the offer.
Handed in my notice (2 weeks notice required ) as last week was at a pick up & waited 3 hours to get to the front of the queue. As I was reversing onto the loading point I was asked to go to the transport office. My pick up had been changed to a one 1 mile away! I was fuming as Im a day driver & so dont get paid by the hour, only a flat rate for the week. (Was at the same place the previous week for 6 hours!!) When I got to the warehouse 1 mile away the forky said he`d been quiet all day. Plan is to do some agency work & wait for an opportunity to arise. When I contacted the planners was told it was a “blip!” Not for me Im afraid! Cant be doing with ineptitude.
Do Pollock Scotrans have a Depot in Leeds? If so, where? Thanks in advance

Yes they do,I think it is somewhere on geldard road behind the m.a.n dealer.
Their drivers wages are ■■■■■
They run out of the M A N yard. Was speaking to a tramper a few days ago from there, 3 wagons based there.
If you have no experience and want a start then go for it. It used to be 2 years experience now1 year. If you are unemployed and can’t find anything else go for it.
There are plenty of vacancies up here at the moment but £8ph for Class1 is not the best. There are better pay rates out there if you have the time to look. One thing I know for sure, it’s always easier to find another job when you are working.
There drivers deliver to us and all they do is moan about the money but nothing new there. But driving a class 1 and only taking home £375 is not well paid.
They have a lot of new trucks so at least you will get decent vehicle to drive.
Daymen, like myself (1st class 1 job & here for the experience) take home £365pw, Trampers take home £500+ per week. Also day job is job & knock.
Always a hoot to hear drivers complaining about money, it’s like they didn’t attend the interview & the first they knew was when they got they’re first pay, thus preventing them from leaving. Top tip No1, if you don’t fancy working for the pay offered, don’t take the job, it’s really that simple. Top tip No2, if you want a job without the odd “blip” don’t stay in the transport sector.
I put in a few shifts for them through Agencies as Ltd Co driver, various shifts out of Blyth and Birtley. Easy jobs and got on well with the planners.
Working as a salaried driver is a big no no for any firm these days, at the hourly rate your offered. IMO
I was well happy with the hourly premium rate for weekends and could make more in two days than trampers working a full 5 shift, less the night out money because I don’t do nights out. I believe the pre taxable rate for nights out is set at £28 aprox, and I was only offered £23 through the Agency. £30-£35 wanted before agreeing nights out, as there’s some cabs in the past weren’t fit for sleeping in. But I’ve caried the job out anyway when nothing else was available.
I found if you go in to any office with an attitude you will get the same back. Nobody goes to work every day to be spoke to like ■■■■■■
As for firms bidding for work and undercutting others. It’s doable if you have slaves, mugs and yes men running around. (There not all these things as there putting food on the table for there family at the end of the day) I don’t see a problem with any firm that tries to keep its drivers in work all year round. It costs firms more money to have drivers employed on there book than to move in self employed and Agency.
But as I said above I got on well with office staff. Not one problem, job done no speeding or cutting out regular safety checks no taking the pish dragging the job out. Paid by the hour and giving back 100% for the opportunity of a days/weeks work.
Try going self employed ltd Co, use various Agencys But stay clear of Zero hour contracts.
Anyone know what the wages are like to date ?
Anyone ?
I believe they are.
£8 ph for 50 hours, £10 ot and £23 nights out.
.
Sounds like just another appalling employer within the transport industry, surprise surprise …
Got 1st place in this months Trucking magazine for best dressed liverie.
Must get the drivers that way instead of a good wage.
They’ve got the contract for International Timber in Grangemouth, apparently, if you lose your number plate, you pay for a replacement!
