The UK provides aid to Afghanistan through humanitarian and development programs, with a focus on vulnerable populations like women and girls
No mention of earthquakes here , just women & kids , you’d never know we have them in this country who are struggling , a few years ago we took the young girl from up the road down town & got her some shoes with soles , school clothes & a couple of day outfits , as I say charity starts at home , look after your own first

I’m intrigued by Rachael saying she was going to close the loophole where people who had lived in this country for 2 yrs could pay £3 I assume per week and get again I assume the goverment pension , she said she was going to put it up from 2 yrs to 10 yrs

This seems to be what she was on about Chancellor Rachel Reeves, in her November 2025 Budget, announced an
increase in the number of years someone must live in the UK to claim the state pension, as well as stopping the ability for Britons living abroad to purchase cheap access to the full UK State Pension. However, reports do not specify a minimum of only two years of residency.
Key Changes Announced in the 2025 Budget:
- Increased Residency Requirement: The government will require individuals to have lived in the UK for more years to be eligible for a UK state pension. The exact new minimum number of years has not been widely publicised in the initial reports, but it is a change from existing rules which generally require at least 10 qualifying years of National Insurance (NI) contributions (which can be built up while living abroad in some cases).

The expat abroad, example he worked in uk for first 10 years of his life and then he went to usa or Australia or anywhere except UK
He then could from abroad pay his national insurance contributions and even backdated them and all for a few quid a year
So when he reached an certain age he could claim a full pension from uk just as if he was working in uk all his life, which he wasn’t or never contributed
If that the case ledwidge why did she say she’s closing the loophole ( assuming you mean it’s legal ) would ni be £3 per week ? Again that’s what she said

Shortly after the president’s remarks, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said it was halting the processing of immigration requests for Afghan nationals.
I wonder if we will now be doing the same as the states and vetting all these Afghans ( and boat invaders ) turning up in our country !! Doubt it
Two National Guard soldiers are critically injured after being gunned down in Washington DC, less than two blocks from the White House, in what the city’s mayor called a “targeted shooting”.
Police said a lone suspect opened fire on two National Guard members from West Virginia on Wednesday afternoon, before being subdued by other National Guard nearby who had heard the gunfire.
US President Donald Trump, who was in Florida at the time, said the alleged gunman was an Afghan national who entered the US in September 2021.
He vowed that his administration would ensure the suspect “pays the steepest possible price” for “an act of evil, an act of hatred and an act of terror”.

The Department of Homeland Security named the suspect in a press release as Rahmanullah Lakamal, “a criminal alien from Afghanistan”. His immigration status is unclear.
Tens of thousands of Afghans entered the US under special immigration protections following the chaotic US withdrawal from that country in 2021 under former President Joe Biden.
“We must now re-examine every alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under Biden,” said Trump in a live address on Wednesday night.
US Citizenship and Immigration Services said it had halted processing of all Afghan immigration requests pending a review of vetting protocols.
