People come to UK on visitor visa or student visas, or work visas , then over stay or claim asylum. Coming from some countries they can’t get a visa so they come illegally . And a quite a few want to claim asylum because they may have family or friends here and speak English.
I agree too many coming here. But there needs to be a safe route for them and a genuine reason for claiming.

Leaving the ECHR would cause many problems for the UK regards the Good Friday agreement. You coud kiss the UK tourist industry goodbye. Other countries would trust us, and be queuing up to make deals with us as readily as they do with North Korea…..
